thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. After all the excitement and hoopla of the wedding planning and celebrations, my husband and I decided we needed our own little post wedding honeymoon.

A parents’ honeymoon weekly run down
Sunday-farewell brunch
What an amazing and beautiful weekend filled with friends and family and a happy newly wed couple. After a farewell brunch hosted by the grandparents on both sides, it was time to go home exhausted and happy. Many months ago, my husband proposed that we go on our own honeymoon right after the celebration. I, at first, thought this sounded crazy but now, I’m all in! Before we get to that, here are a few pics shared by guests (we won’t have the formal ones for a while).
from the farewell brunch-

Monday-and we’re off!
My husband planned us a fabulous parents’ honeymoon! We are flying off this morning to Tokyo! Stay tuned for all the photos and details to come.
Tuesday-arrive in Tokyo
After a 14 hour flight, we arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon. We pushed through the jet lag and made ourselves go out to dinner and explore around the Ginza neighborhood. My first thought was that this area looked a lot like Madison Avenue in New York albeit much quieter. I never heard a horn honk and many of the cars are electric. This photo is from the “New York Bar” at the top of the Park Hyatt hotel that is famous for the movie “Lost in Translation”
Wednesday-chopsticks making class + exploring Tokyo
Ooh jet lag is tough with pretty much being turned upside down time wise. We had a fun chopsticks making class and toured around the city. We of course had sushi for lunch! Later, we boarded a cruise ship where we will visiting all around Japan and South Korea for the next 10 days.
We had them engraved with our names in English and Japanese. For the full look on how we made these check my IG here.
Thursday-Full body strength + pilates
After a pretty good sleep, I think I am finally adjusting to the 13 time difference. It felt good to hit the gym here and lift some weights. We are sailing between Tokyo and Osaka today so that gave us another day to adjust before hitting the touring again tomorrow.
Friday-touring Osaka and Kobe
Oof jet lag! We spent a super fun day seeing the city of Osaka by foot. We had a great guide who took us through a few of the city’s top spots and also all the foodie stops. We sampled miso and sesame pastes, okonomiyaki and takoyaki. I was not as adventurous as my husband but I did step out of my comfort zone.
Later that night, we visited Kobe (famous for its beef yes) and also home to the larges Chinatown area outside of China. it’s also known as for its chocolate shops. Who knew?!
Saturday-Peloton upper body + core + Pilates reformer
We are at sea today sailing from Osaka to Hiroshima. As such, I took advantage of the down time to get into the great gym here. I also took a Pilates reformer class which I loved! As you read this on Sunday morning, we should be touring around Hiroshima.
We just got back some sneak peek photos from the photographer and they are amazing. If you’d like to take a peek here.
It’s been quite the amazing, whirlwind fantastic week! Sorry if I missed reading your posts last week. I’m definitely back on it today!

I love all these wedding photos!! You and your daughter look stunning!
also, love the idea of a parent honeymoon. I can’t wait to see more Japan photos!
Thanks so much! It is nice to be away
Great idea to get away. Wedding planning is stressful.
But it looked perfect. Congrats!
It sure was stressful! Glad to be away
What a wonderful whirlwind of a week for you! The wedding photos I have seen so far are just gorgeous–I love your daughter’s dress! Everyone looks beautiful. The trip to Japan looks so fun! You’re going to need a spa trip after all this to recover!
Her dress was gorgeous! It has been a whirlwind for sure
The wedding pictures are beautiful – can’t wait to see the official photographer’s pictures, too! Enjoy your time in Japan! My head is spinning at your short turnaround time between the wedding at leaving for the trip, but you’re a pro and I’m sure it was seamless for you.
Ha it was a rough turn around and crazy few days!
Looks like a fabulous time you’re having, and kudos to the hubby for making it happen 🙂 Again, what a great celebration you orchestrated for your daughter and new SIL. Gorgeous pics!
Thanks it was a beautiful wedding!
Omg!!! I love the wedding photos! Your daughter is beautiful! I love your dress! It all looks amazing.
GREAT idea to get away on a “parents honeymoon.” You worked hard and deserve a treat. The trip sounds great, other than the jetlag- I guess there’s no way to avoid it with that big of a time difference. Can’t wait to hear more about it!
Jet lag comes along with the fantastic destinations sometimes!
It does sound like a crazy idea to me, but if you didn’t have to do all the planning — or could do it before the wedding craziness — I would be all in for the fun!
The wedding photos are stunning. Your daughter looks gorgeous — her dress is amazing. I also love the red — so passionate!
Enjoy your trip!
Thanks she sure was a gorgeous bride! I did not have to do any of the trip planning so it’s been a great post wedding vacation
