Thanks for stopping in for the May 2026 Ultimate Coffee Date. Wow I cannot believe it’s May already! It’s been kind of a whirlwind around here lately. I’m not sure what time zone I am in today but I’m always up for a coffee date. Grab your mugs and hop in!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Planning a large wedding is complicated and stressful! We were thrilled with how all the decor came together exactly how my daughter envisioned it would. We can’t wait to get the official photos back from the photographer but the sneak peak he gave us is amazing. We lucked out with the weather all weekend allowing us to do our rehearsal dinners on an outdoor rooftop overlooking some of the DC monuments. It was a perfect weekend all around.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

When my husband first suggested going away right after the festivities, I thought he was nuts. It was overwhelming to think about planning. Now that we are here, I am so glad that we did this. We are having a fantastic time exploring Japan with a quick stop in South Korea.

I would also share that the 13 hour time change is rough to adapt to. I’m thinking it will be easier on the way home? Overall, we have been amazed by how nice everyone is and how clean the cities are. When we are not with our guide, we are relying on Google Translate which is super helpful. Japanese is not a language you can fudge your way through!

Famous 7-11 strawberry sandwich

I would also share that 7-11 stores are uniquely Japanese with high end food and state of the are technology. People flock to them for the egg salad sandwiches and fruit sandwiches. Seriously, yes and they are pretty good! They also have this automated smoothie machine that is quite interesting. We are foodies (as you have probably figured out) so we like to check out as much local food as we can.

We have another few days in Tokyo at the end of our trip and we look forward to exploring and sharing more. Stay tuned for more adventures.

April was definitely a whirlwind for me too. I’m so glad to hear the the decor turned out just as your daughter wanted it to be! :] The photos are gorgeous!

When I accidentally ended up in Japan, 7-11 was definitely my jam (I couldn’t withdraw money for a few days since ATM’s kept declining my card so I couldn’t afford to eat elsewhere, haha). I absolutely love their other food too but 7-11’s in Asia are just extra awesome!

Fruit sandwiches?! Who knew that that’s a thing? What other fruit do they use apart from strawberries?

13 hours of time difference is rough – but it’s worth the sacrifice! Enjoy!!

I have only seen them with strawberries and they kind of taste like a strawberry shortcake. They are quite popular here!

I’m so glad to hear the wedding went off perfectly. The pics I’ve seen are absolutely stunning. I agree the Japanese are some of the nicest, kindest people I’ve met in my travels and Japan is SO clean. When I went we took an evening flight and got there in the evening as well. By the time we got checked into our hotel it was bedtime, so I slept and woke up refreshed. No jet lag at all. Go figure.

I think the trip was a great idea. After looking forward to the wedding for so long, I can imagine there would be a little letdown when it’s all over. A trip is just the thing to get you over that lull. Sounds like you’re having an amazing time- I can’t wait to hear more about it!

Glad you are enjoying your time in Japan. I remember again the problems for the jet lag when I went to China for work.

Glad all worked out on the wedding planning front! The photos you’ve shared on social were beautiful!

I used to travel for work to Singapore way back when and remember that jet lag was no joke! It’s much easier coming back. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Oh, I meant to add that I had an easier time adjusting to the time difference in Australia than coming home—I had to drag myself out of bed at 11 am the first few days!
