Thanks for popping in to take a peek at my May 2026 Runfessions and Confessions. I’ve got a few big things I’d love to get off of my chest. Thanks to Marcia for hosting. Let’s jump right in!

May 2026 Runfessions and Confessions
I Runfess and Confess…
I’ve pretty much lost interest in Instagram, Yup, I said it. After years of pouring my literal heart and sole (and soul) into my page, I’m tired of it. It takes so much time and effort to really grow and interact with other accounts. When I was on the Brooks Running Team for 4 years, I was more motivated to share my content and connect with the brand and other team members. But what did all of that time and effort really do for me?

For a few years, especially during COVID times, it was fun to make a little side hustle with sponsored posts. Over time, I’ve become much more selective about brands I’d like to work with. I’ve also become very turned off by creators who will post anything just to get paid.
At least 4 or 5 days a week, I get emails from supplement companies asking me to post about their products. Most are things I’ve never even heard of! I personally do take a number of supplements daily. These are things that my Doctor has suggested to me based on my blood work and health goals. Every body is different and what is appropriate for me, may or may not be for you. So, don’t do what I do. Do what’s best for you and your body.
I guess I have just become so disillusioned with Instagram and simply not as interested in pouring my energies into it. I do love seeing recipes, home decor, travel and fashion inspiration. Maybe I should just be a travel blogger!?
Whew! That were big runfessions and confessions! I’ll have to think of something else to talk about next week at the Ultimate Coffee Date. Tell me how you feel about IG these days? Thanks for reading!

Well, you’ve got nearly 8’000 followers so clearly you were doing a great job! What’s the difference between followers and friends?
I’m not on social media except my blog and Strava. I’m quite happy with that – all the other stuff would suck too much time out of my day.
Good for you for reducing your time on the IG app!! 👏
It sure does suck up a ton of time and I have just lost interest
I’m right there with you on Instagram. I just don’t care anymore. I think I posted maybe once this month. Not worth my time and I pretty much pass on the sponsored offers I get.
Exactly! It’s changed a lot and not for the better
All of the product promotions can be quite time-consuming for sure! Currently I enjoy being a part of the Shokz team, in part because the posting ask is very low; otherwise I just enjoy IG to stay in touch with other runners.
there are definitely lots of options for staying connected. I wish I saw your posts more-another issue I have is that I don’t see posts from people I want to see anymore
I hear ya on the Instagram thing! I still post daily, but I don’t have time to be constantly commenting on others’ posts. I at least do my fair share of “liking,” but I know that’s kind of lame, LOL.
Whatever works for you! I’m just not interested in expending so much time and energy into it anymore
I still post five or so times a week, but a year or more ago I got away from just posting about running and fitness, and now I post pictures of what makes me happy during the day – flowers, scenery, and Pablo if he’s visiting! I’ve never made a reel because I see how much time it takes my husband to make one on the rare occasion he posts. It seems like sponsors want reels (I could be wrong) so I no longer respond to any requests for partnership – the last thing I want at this point in my life is to be is thought of as an influencer. LOL
I am all for posting pics of what makes you happy! I will continue to do that as well but I don’t feel the obligation of having to post if I am not feeling it
It is so very ok to shift from things that no longer serve us. And it’s ok to take a break. Or change passions. There are zero rules.
Exactly!
