August 2026 Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Watching the Odyssey movie last week I was reminded of some funny memories from when my kids were in high school. Both of them had the very long classic assigned to them junior year. To say both of them struggled to read it would be an understatement. So, being the amazingly supportive mom that I am, I somehow agreed to read it to them aloud and then discuss and analyze. They both may have also fallen asleep a few times during my oral readings. To this day, it’s one of our funny family jokes. Fun fact, if you are a jeopardy fan, questions about the book often come up. Guess who knows the answers?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

In addition to being an avid wordle fan and having very heated games with my husband, we also play Crossplay. If you are not familiar, it is like the old words with friends. Sometimes, I also practice by playing against the computer. I was very pleased with myself when I got an 102 point word the other day.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I’m obsessed with my new lunch recipe. While I often rotate my proteins between tuna salad and egg salad, this week I did something epic. I combined them and it was so delicious. If you are looking for a high protein option to add to your salad or sandwich, this is it. I combined 4 hard boiled egg whites, a 5.5 oz can of tuna, chopped pickles, diced celery and mustard. You can add either mayo, Greek yogurt or ranch dressing. This makes 2 servings. Mix it all up and yum!

That’s about all I’ve got today! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

I’m always on the lookout for new protein mixes, so this one sounds like a great find! I’ll have to give it a try.

That’s so funny about you reading The Odyssey to your kids. I hope they go and see the movie too. I’m sure it’ll bring back memories of those reading sessions with you! 😊

So you’re an Odyssey expert! I can picture you shouting answers at the TV during Jeopardy. I’ve never read it and don’t really want to, so I can see how your kids resisted it in high school!

Growing up tuna salad sandwiches on Saturdays was often on the menu. My mom always added eggs with her home canned sweet pickles (she used mayo and vinegar). It’s now a Friday lunch staple for us during Lent when we can’t eat meat!

You’re a good mom! I never read The Odyssey in high school or to my kids.

That was quite the undertaking reading that book! I just saw the movie this week, courtesy of an invite from my son. I did read all the Harry Potter books, and the last four were quite lengthy (but I was totally captivated). I have not tackled the Odyssey …

It’s a long one indeed! The movie was good but I thought it could have been 30 m shorter

I love Wordle, but I forget about it from time to time. Crossplay sounds good. I have to suggest it to my mom: she’s a scrabble goddess.

I just bought The Odyssey to re-read. A didn’t read it in school, but I’m giving it to him when I’m finished. I remember most of it, but I just want to read the words again.
