Run Gear I’m loving this week-Fitletic hydration belt
I recently purchased a new hydration belt, the Fitletic 16 oz, so when I saw that Erika, Patty & April were talking favorite running gear this week for their Tuesdays on The Run link up I thought it was the perfect time to review it. The previous belt I had used a velcro closure at the waist and after a few months of wear the velcro started to be less reliable. A few weeks ago during a race it just fell off of my waist and I had to go double back through a throng of runners to … [Read more...]
Smokey & Spicy Butternut Squash Soup w Chipotle drizzle
Happy Meatless Monday! One thing I love about fall is a nice big bowl of soup on a chilly night. I've taken the traditional Butternut Squash soup and kicked it up a notch with the addition of chipotle peppers to give it a smokey, spicy goodness. Even better, I've added silky tofu to bump up the protein. Makes a great one dish meal with plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Please join Tina Muir and I & check out all of the great recipes in our link up below. Smokey Butternut Squash … [Read more...]
5 Reasons to love a Relay Race
I participated in 2 Relay Race events recently, The DC Ragnar race and a Sprint Triathlon Relay. I loved them both for many of the same reasons. Here are my top 5 1. Get a taste of a Tri-If you are thinking about doing a Tri race and not sure about how all of the logistics work, "tri"ing one as part of a relay team is a great way to see how it all works. You have the opportunity to watch the swimmers and bikers come in and get an idea of how everything flows. Bonus: you only have to train for … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Kale Lasagna
Meatless Monday! Link up with me and Tina Muir to share your Vegetarian recipe with us. Add your link below. People do seem to be going a little "Pumpkin Crazy" these days however most of the recipes and pictures I see are for pies, breads and lattes. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pumpkin bread too but let's not forget that pumpkin is a vegetable in the squash family with a ton of health benefits. I've kicked up the health benefits even more by combining Kale & Pumpkin into a … [Read more...]

Skechers Go Walk-Taking Steps towards Breast Cancer Awareness
This past summer, I ran my first Race for the Cure and was so moved by all of the strong, courageous people I met that day. When I was asked by Skecher's to review a pair of their GoWalk Flash 2 shoes as part of their effort raise awareness for Breast Cancer Research, I jumped at the chance to do my part to raise awareness and funds. (Disclosure: This post was sponsored by Skecher's however all opinions are my own). I didn't have any shoes specifically designed for walking so I … [Read more...]
