Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week was still a bit stressful with my parents but ended on a better note. Good bye June!

Good Bye June Weekly Run Down

Sunday-floor Pilates

As my dad is still in the hospital, our Father’s Day celebration was not exactly what we had originally planned. However, we wanted to still celebrate my husband and my sister’s husband so we had a lower key BBQ lunch. Today was another fit it in Pilates class. Hope to get back to my regular schedule tomorrow.

Monday-core + upper body strength + lower body strength + tread hike

I really needed this 90 min workout today! Also really appreciated the squat jumps at the end. Later, I went to visit my dad who seems to be doing better past 2 days. He even took a little stroll around his floor with me and the walker. I have not seen him do that in a while. I’m more hopeful he might come from this at some point.

Tuesday-reformer Pilates class + tread walk

Today was my weekly Pilates reformer class and we did some new things that definitely a core challenge. It was pouring rain all day so my afternoon walk took place on the tread. But I got it done!

Wednesday-upper body strength

I had a bunch of stuff going on today so a 30 min upper body class was all I got in. Short but good! Later it was Mahjong day where I luckily won one game.

Thursday-standing core + full body strength + tread hike

I made up for yesterday’s short workout with a longer, more challenging stack today. The standing core class had some great balance exercises. My full body class had lots of step ups on the bench and drop sets of bicep curls. I finished off with a 30 min tread hike for some sweaty steps.

In good news-my dad was released from the hospital today and is resting comfortably at home. My sister and I were able to arrange some good home care help for him. He really wanted a male nurse (those are hard to come by!) but we think we have them set up. Thankfully, we all feel good about this set up-fingers crossed!

Friday-travel to Philadelphia

Now that my dad is home and we have them all set up, I kept my plans for a quick trip to Philly to visit one of my besties. She planned massages for us in the afternoon and boy did I appreciate that today! Somehow we walked about 24,000 steps!

Saturday-walking around Philly + stretch class

The weather was less than optimal with all day rain. We did not let that stop us from getting in another 25K steps again. The second part of girls weekend included a fabulous facial and afternoon shopping.

This was just the chill weekend with a friend that I needed. Good Bye June!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

It’s good to hear that your dad was released from the hospital and things seem to be falling into place with his home health care. Sending prayers for him to continue to feel better.

Your weekend away with one of your besties sounds like the best medicine for you! I remember meeting her in Portland, Maine that time we met-up with Darlene briefly!

Hope this coming week is less stressful.

Yes, you definitely needed a chill friend weekend this week! Very glad your dad is doing better.
What is up with all this rain? It seems like it’s raining everywhere but Florida, and this is supposed to be our rainy season! Anyway, nice job getting your workouts in (as you usually do).

    Good news about your dad!
You always get so much good strength work done. That 90 minute workout must have felt good!
Sounds fantastic with a girls weekend, and massage too! That’s something we all should get now and then when we train a lot.

A Father’s Day that didn’t go as planned sounds heavy, but I really admire how you still carved out moments of normal life in between everything. So good that your dad is back home and you found a male nurse!

How is your mum dealing with all this?
