How Strong Am I Today? Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week was a growth week for my Peloton HiLIt+ program. I found myself asking myself, “how strong am I today?”. Let’s find out. Here’s a peek into my week.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday-foam rolling + power walk + reformer Pilates

I treated my sore muscles to a foam rolling class before meeting a friend for a long power walk. Later, I finished the day with a late afternoon reformer Pilates class. Then, I made myself a delicious roasted salmon and salad.

Monday-planned rest day Yom Kippur

In observance of Yom Kippur, I planned to take this day as a rest day. We attended services at our synagogue and then break fast dinner at my sister’s house.

Tuesday-low impact cardio + lower body & core strength

Yesterday’s strength class got moved to today. I upped my weights by adding my c2.5 lbs clips for these “B stance dead lifts”. A great balance and strength exercise. I was feeling pretty strong after this workout.

Wednesday-jump training + upper body strength

when I heard my instructor, Rebecca, ask herself how strong she was today while contemplating which weights to pick up, I did the same. Why not try a heavier weight? Turns out, I was pretty strong too. I upped my weights for both chest presses and skull crushers. You never know until you try!

Later, it was time for Mahjong. We only had a few of us today and were able to get in a bunch of fast fun games.

Thursday-power walk + reformer Pilates

It was a gorgeous morning and I took advantage with a long, outdoor walk. Later, I popped into a reformer Pilates class.

Friday-lower body strength + low impact cardio

It was another how strong am I today day? I pushed my weights on these off set front squats as well as my 5 sets of push ups. You never know until you try and I figured I could always drop down for my second set if needed.

Saturday-full body strength + power walk

I was feeling pretty good this morning and opted for a bonus strength class and headed out for a walk before the rain rolled in.

I finished this week feeling really strong and accomplished. Ever ask yourself “how strong am I today?”

You never know until you try!! That’s a good one to remember!
Well done for adding those extra pounds – I am sure you will stick with the heavier weights going forward, too!

I love this! I need to try upping my weights- what are those 2.5 lb clip things? do they work on all weights? sometimes going up 5 is too much!

I love that question and will dig deep with it as our powerlifting rotation is coming up in 1 week! My favorite! But squats…

    Nice work!

Sometimes all we need is that little push from ourselves to see what we’ve got!

That’s a great self-check, and you’re right, you can always drop down — but you might surprise yourself!

Glad you had a good week.

Very nice, Deborah! We are much stronger than we think. I increased my chest press dumbbell weight from 25s to 30s this week during my HiLit class – first time in years! I started to text you during the week to ask about the HiLit versus HiLit+ because you’ve mentioned a couple of times that it’s very different. I ended up going with Rebecca’s suggestion to repeat weeks three and four and then I’ll move to HiLit+. What are the biggest differences between the two?

i love this! I’m going to ask myself that question AND tell myself “you never know until you try.” I definitely don’t push myself enough. A couple weeks ago I realized I was doing sets of 15 reps on my shoulder presses- WHY? I obviously needed to increase the weight, but sometimes I’m afraid to do it.
    You definitely look very strong!

You never know until you try! That’s a great attitude. In most cases we’re stronger than we think! Good work this week.
