Finishing HiLit* Feeling Strong 💪 Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week I finish up my 6 week HiLit+ (high intensity low impact training) with Peloton. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness and life.

Finishing HiLit+ Feeling strong 💪Weekly Run Down

Sunday-power walk

After a nice sleep in, I got in a long power walk before it got too hot out there. I spent the afternoon reading in the pool. We finally had a day without rain! This book had me hooked and I read the whole thing this weekend. If you like twisty mystery books, Alice Feeney does it again.

Monday-lower body strength + core + low impact cardio

Monday was off to a strong start! I felt really good with today’s lower body strength. I’m getting used to the low  impact cardio but it’s not my favorite.

Tuesday-power walk + reformer pilates

After last night’s storm, You could cut the humidity with a knife. I took advantage of the clouds and got in a longer power walk. Later, I tried another group reformer pilates class. I am still figuring out which type of class I like. Today’s was a ton of core and balance and that was just what I was looking for.

Wednesday-upper body strength + core

After a nice high 95 sleep score, I was ready to push it on my workout today. I was feeling strong with these bent over rows and heavy chest presses. (I know it’s  bad form to lift your head like this-just did it for the photo :))

Later, I met my son for lunch and then met the girls for Mahjong. I heard on the news that the PowerBall lottery was up to a billion dollars, so I took an after dinner walk to the 7-11 and bought a few tickets. You can’t win if you don’t play!

Well, I did not win the billions but I did win $104 so my net profit was a whopping $4. LOL

Thursday-power walk + stretch

I took advantage of a not too hot morning and got in a nice long power walk. I was kind of sore today from this week’s strong finish.

Friday-reformer Pilates and stretch class

Today’s reformer class had some serious core and balance work. I love finding new ways to challenge myself!

Saturday-lower body strength + core + power walk

Today I finished the 6 week HiLit+ program! I can honestly say I loved it more than I thought I would. I’m ending these 6 weeks feeling a lot stronger and using heavier weights. I have 1 week until our vacation and I’m not sure if I will repeat the last week again or do something else this coming week. I can say, I plan to do another round in September after our travels.

I saw this in one of the Peloton groups and it really resonated with me. Maybe it will you as well…

Well done on completing the 6 weeks of HiLit! It really seems to work so well for you!

Your Pilates setup looks so sophisticated and professional! I went to a Pilates class at my gym this week but it was very disappointing. It was because of the teacher – I don’t know what her plan was. I’m pretty sure a proper Pilates class involves more than stretching and a few downward dogs! 😅

Pilates is very different than yoga we don’t do down dogs. I would say it’s mostly core and lower back work which I really enjoy.

Another strong week for you! Curious–what was the low impact cardio you did that you didn’t like? So many people are doing Pilates now- I think I may have to try it!

I like that quote–I have a similar one on the sidebar of my blog!

The low impact cardio for this program is kind of like old school aerobics. It was okay and kind of grew on me during the 6 weeks. I think the Pilates is so helpful for the core. It forces me to slow down and really enjoy those muscles in a different way. I think you would like it

I agree with Wendy. I should try Pilates.

Guess what book I’m reading. You can see it in a pic on my post.

Yes, no harm in trying it! If you are not going to do traditional strength training it is a great option.

Reading the sane book. Yes hard to put down.

I wonder if there’s a Pilates class near me?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/16/2026 at 8:48 am

      Yes there defintiely is!!

It’s good to hear that you enjoyed the HiLit program. I just might start that while we’re at the beach house in two weeks. I keep dumbbell sets up to 20 pounds down there (and need to buy some 25’s to keep there).

I’ve never done Pilates with a reformer. I should try it sometime! Sounds like the studio you’re going to has a lot of different types of classes from which to choose.

Curious to see where your next travels take you!

I really think you would like the program!!

That’s a powerful statement about building from where you are, I love it!!
Way to go with this 6 week program and it’s a big win to finish a program stronger and using heavier weights! Great that you have opportunities to try different Pilates classes. Core and balance work is always important whatever form it may come in! I need to get more balance into my routine as well. Generally I’ll do a big overhaul of my non-gym routine for the autumn.

There are lots of mat Pilates classes available on line too! Hope you give it a try

Ooh- I love that quote! Wishing for our old bodies back is silly, and futile. Besides, I don’t want my old body- I need to be stronger (although I would take my old stomach back, just saying…)
It sounds like the program you just finished was great! Strong is a nice feeling. Glad you were able to get out for some power walks amidst the chaotic weather.
You have more travel coming up- can’t wait to see where you’re going next.

When i find myself thinking things like that about my younger body, I remind myself that my abdomen was the place that created my children. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the program and I will likely do it again next month after we return from our travels

Congrats on finishing HiLit!! Wow, has 6 weeks gone by already? I remember when you started it! And LOOOVE that quote. Wow, it’s a powerful reminder for me in this part of my life … it’s been 5 years since that third baby and I’m still trying to get back to where I was before my first one!

It is a powerful reminder and the point is not to try to get back to where we were at some other time in our lives. Instead, to build our future self

Nice job finishing the HiLIt+ program! Sounds like it was a huge success for you 😉 I think all of us had some damp weather to deal with last week. It’s been SO rainy here, and we have standing water everywhere. Yesterday’s bike ride saw a lot of water alongside the trail.

I was super excited for your $104 win, and then I saw how many tickets you bought. LOL I was going to get some tickets too, and forgot about it.
I am really digging the vibe of the pilates room. The colors look relaxing and energizing at the same time!
The countdown is on to vacation, yay!

Ha yes ended up only really winning $4 but that’s ok! 🙂
