Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week was really just about coasting through. Nothing too exciting to report. We all need weeks like that! Here’s a peek in to my week of fitness.

Coasting through the Weekly Run Down

Sunday- rest day core + stretch

I was surprised to sleep in past 9 am today. Seemed like the perfect way to start off my rest day. I lounged by the pool reading most of the afternoon. Don’t worry, I did my daily core and stretch.

Monday-core + full body strength + stretch + power walk

It was kind of cool this morning (for June!) so I headed out for a walk before my strength workout. I spent the afternoon visiting with my parents. I’m lucky to have them just 15 min away so I can pop over when they need me.

Tuesday- Pilates reformer class + afternoon walk + foam roll

Tuesdays are now my Pilates reformer days. I think I’m getting the feel for it after 3 sessions. It feels like a good addition to my strength workouts. We are not supposed to take pics in there but I did sneak one in! Later, I headed out for a nice walk and foam roll stretch.

Wednesday-full body strength + core + stretch

I good strong upper body class was just what I needed today. This one had some sneaky core work too. Then, it was mahjong day-I was lucky enough to win a game too.

Thursday-morning power walk + core + upper body strength + stretch

Well that extreme heat rolled into our area today. My friend and I got out for a morning power walk before it was too hot. I was super sweaty for my upper body class afterwards.

Friday-full body strength + lower body Pilates

I finished out the week with a full body strength class and some lower body Pilates. We went to the movies in the theatre for the first time in ages! Disclosure Day was really good! While I do love sitting in my pj’s and hitting play on a movie, the new theatres where you can order dinner at your seats are very nice and civilized.

Saturday-rest day core Pilates

I had a chill day of relaxing by the pool but made sure to get in my daily core Pilates. We went out to a nice dinner at one of favorite restaurants in Georgetown.

It was kind of a chill, not too exciting week around here. I’m okay with that!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I like how you’re steadily building Pilates reformer into your week. That reformer looks like an instrument of torture, haha!

I can’t wrap my head around the idea of eating dinner in a movie theatre! 😂
Am I understanding this correctly: you’re actually having a full meal in your seat while watching the film, in the dark? Do the waiters come in and out to serve you? And is everyone else having dinner, too?

They are the much bigger reclining type seats almost like a business class airline seat. You order from a waiter yes and they bring your food and or cocktails to your seat. It’s like salads sandwiches pizza etc and popcorn of course but much more civilized than a traditional theater smaller more upscale. Does that make sense?

I had been to a real theatre in ages but went to one where they served dinner. What fun?

I feel like I need to try Pilates.

Glad to hear you had a calm week.

I think Pilates is a great addition to strength and running as it elongates the muscles after using them and great for posture

I love that you snuck a picture of your reformer class! I’ve always been tempted to go to one, I’ve heard they are so good for you. I’m just not a typical group exercise person. but you tempt me!

Pilates just feels like torture to me and the reformer makes it look like torture too! But, I know it can have huge benefits!

Disclosure Day looks good. I haven’t been on a movie date in ages — maybe we should try that dinner theater.

Love that place in G’town — you husband’s shoes are on point!

what a great week Deborah. Nice perfect mix of relaxing and moving. I did Pilates (not reformer) for 1.5 years and just could not get into it. I tried so hard. there’s a new reformer class in town I’ve been meaning to try but haven’t taken the plunge yet.

We don’t have any theaters near us that serve meals, unless you count a big tub of popcorn as a meal (well, sometime’s it’s my lunch when I got to the movies haha). That does sound fun!
    Congrats on the mahjong win!
