Wow this week really seemed to fly by for me! I thought it would feel odd not to have something to be training for but it’s actually kind of liberating. I’m joining in with Hoho, Tricia and guest host Heather for Weekly Wrap hello August.
Weekly Wrap Hello August
The great thing about posting workout photos to Instagram everyday is that I don’t forget what I do. I am feeling back on track this week and a lot less tired. Let’s take a look at how my week went down.
Sunday-We had a huge group run today and made our trek into DC to end up at the bakery we like. We run the 5.5 miles, get coffee and then Uber back. How silly is that?
Monday-10 min TM run +20 m elliptical, 60 min strength training
My trainer has me running for 10 min on the TM before our strength training sessions. We are working on form again and it’s easier for me to focus on that with a short TM run.
We had our Ragnar Napa team meeting and I will have some yummy eats to share with you soon.
Tuesday-~4 mile track workout
Cheated on my MRTT friends and did some form drills with my trainer at the HS track. Didn’t know it was the first day of HS football tryouts. It was quite the scene over there. I was wiped after out workout and actually grabbed a quick nap in the afternoon.
Wednesday-10 min TM run + 90 min kickboxing and strength training
We are doing lots more balancing and core work and I am loving the new challenges.
Thursday-4 mile run with the girls followed by a stop for iced tea
Friday-20 mile bike ride + 1 hour swim class
It felt great to get back out on my bike after about a 2 week break. We were rewarded with a beautiful day. One of the highlights of the week for sure.
Saturday-active rest day 1 hour hot yoga
One of my goals for August is to make it to yoga at lease once a week. Got it in! Feeling a lot less stressed this week and had a pretty good week all around. Thanks for reading the Weekly Wrap Hello August. Hope to see you tomorrow for Meatless Monday where I am sharing my Coffee Date Zucchini Bread recipe.
Tell me what was the highlight of your workout week?
Kim says
Great week of training! I love that your focusing on form and balance – those are two things I need to incorporate into my workout routine as well!
Deborah Brooks says
I am really enjoying it and I find it’s so important.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Great week for you! And yay for getting back to yoga – I’ve made that a goal for August too!
Deborah Brooks says
I love how good yoga makes me feel
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s always nice to run for fun, but it doesn’t really sound like you’re doing that!
Probably the highlight of my fitness this week was that the runs were faster than usual — for me. I’ll take it!
Deborah Brooks says
That sounds like a highlight to me! I am running for fun now with no race on my schedule to train for at the moment
Lesley says
Ahh, memories of high school pre-season. I have noticed more students are back on campus as they prepare for pre-season. I don’t know exactly when pre-seasons start, but student move-in is in a couple weeks.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I am taking my daughter back to school next week always a hectic time for sure
Sara says
Great week of workouts! I agree with you that sometimes when you don’t have anything to train for it actually makes training feel better. I love that you ran to the coffee shop and then ubered home.
This coming week I am also going to be focusing on changing my form to help me increase my speed (and use my hamstrings….which I currently don’t to lol).
Deborah Brooks says
Working on form is not easy at all!
Coco says
You had a great week! I’ve dusted off my Quick Strength for Runners program to keep working my core (etc.) after slacking this summer. I’ve given yoga my Friday morning slot. I love the instructor and it’s a good way to end the week before the Conte’s ride that has taken over my Saturday morning slot!
Deborah Brooks says
I am loving the yoga right now and wish I could go more. You have been a cycling queen lately
Fairytales and Fitness says
Look at you doing hot yoga and still calling it a rest day! I am always impressed with all you do even when you are not training for anything particular. -M
Deborah Brooks says
Ah thanks! I do need to do something active everyday or I get too antsy. I am liking not having an actual plan to train for
Clarinda says
My workout highlight was running a 40 this morning. 7 miles in the shape of 40. 🙂 And, of course, the arrival of my new Garmin.
Deborah Brooks says
I saw your running shaped 40! How fun is that. Enjoy your new watch
Marcia says
I kind of wish I could erase this past week workout-wise. I so do not need an injury at this point in marathon training. You guys are funny with your Uber!
Deborah Brooks says
You do not need an injury ever! I really hope it’s not too serious take care of yourself this week
Kimberly Hatting says
You are constantly on the move 😉 I love the idea of running to the bakery…and UBERing back LOL I love that pic of you on the Bosu…looking so #badazz 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Kim! We do like have fun with our running outings. Have a great week
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Impressed with all your core and balance workouts! That is something I need to do more of!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am hoping all of that will help with my running and my aging 🙂
HoHo Runs says
I like the Uber plan! I’ve enjoyed not having a race to train for (yet) this summer. That mural makes a wonderful backdrop for the cycling pic. Is there a story behind it? Are there more in the area?
Deborah Brooks says
I love that mural as well. I don’t know of any others in town but I am going to find out! It is a pic of a well known restaurant but I’ve never been to it
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I love all of the workouts that you do! Just you on that Bosu ball…I couldn’t barely stand on it with both feet, haha! Working with your training looks like it’s going well!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes my strength training is going well and I am really enjoying it right now. Thanks!
Heather says
Sounds like a great week to start off August! I have horrible balance so just the photo of you on the Bosu ball has me feeling wobbly – I’m slowly working on my balance (all of those little stabilizer muscles!) and hope to be where you are one day! Thanks for linking up!
Deborah Brooks says
Ah thanks! I admittedly fell a few times before making it up there
Sharon says
Love that you Uber back after running to the bakery! Sounds like a great week for you! Your Bosu pic reminds me that I should use mine more! 🙂 My long run was the highlight of my week!
Deborah Brooks says
I love how much I can do with the Bosu
Teresa says
I do love following along with your workouts …you and your friends always look like you’re have so much fun! Yay for getting back out on the bike! I’ve been working on balance as well lately and I’m seeing improvement already …I’ve always shied away from it because …well, I’ve always sucked at it. Just goes to show that persistence pays off.
Have a great week Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
Thank Teresa yes I am very lucky to have such an amazing group of workout buddies. So glad that you are feeling good about your workouts this week too
Karen Bayne says
I need more balance and core work in my life 🙂
A nap is good recovery!
Deborah Brooks says
I think we can all use more balance in our lives!

Looks like your are not lacking this week! Great job on your workouts and yoga! I have got to get back into the habit of motivating myself before I try to motivate others. This summer while it’s been a break in the blogging dept it hasn’t in the Life department. I’m slowly figuring out a routine. Thankfully I have not quit my workouts or running, I am afraid what would happen if I did! Thanks Deborah for your support!
Deborah Brooks says
This summer was hard for me as well. I can really put a lot of pressure on myself and then get down on things. Hope with the start of fall we both feel back to ourselves
