About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Those smoothies by Daily Harvest look delicious! I’m with your daughter, I’d pick the Acai Cheery, too.
My favourite lately is Chai Tea with frothed milk. I bought a milk frother last Monday and I’m obsessed with it.

Would you believe that I have never had chai tea!?

I make a mean Acai Cherry smoothie….but I’m intrigued by some of the other offerings you shared! I need to up my smoothie game. I’m kind of in a rut.

I am impressed by the unique flavor combos they offer in just the right serving sizes. Check it out!

I’m one (of a tiny handful of the human race) who has never gotten into the smoothie thing (I know, my bad)…but those look like a game-changer. Also, that nail kit got my attention LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/15/2020 at 8:17 am

The nail kits are very nice and you can mix and match with some of them. Tying to get better at doing my own mani

    Not a smoothie fan either.

Loving my morning coffee. I can an extra hour working from home.

Loving all the flowers and new places to visit.

Not loving my nails. Old ANC.

Not loving my hair. Had to cut my own bangs. And yes a color stick on my roots.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/15/2020 at 8:21 am

Not loving my nails either. Even with my best efforts they keep breaking. I am just going to hold out on the hair and hope I can get in there sometime in June.

I’ve never heard of Proper Good, thank you for sharing the brand! I will need to check those out, it seems like a great option to have on hand in case you forget to pack a lunch for work. Who am I kidding though, we aren’t going back to the office any time soon…

Lately I’ve been loving my pumice stone. It helps keep my feet free of dry skin since I can’t get a pedicure now.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/15/2020 at 8:44 am

And you just reminded me that I need to get another pumice stone the feet area not looking good at the moment

  6. Laetitia says

    05/15/2020 at 9:10 am

I’m pretty good at doing my own nails (at least for my hands… I really regret not getting a pedicure before everything shut down… )

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/15/2020 at 3:47 pm

My feet are just awful right now so I am kind of glad that no one is seeing them!

  7. Marcia says

I love the creative combos in those smoothies! I wish I could get my kids to drink them. My daughter had a dip mani that was so grown out she really had to work to get the polish off. Haha!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/15/2020 at 3:48 pm

I had a really hard time getting mine off as well! My feet are an embarrassment so good thing no one can see them

I absolutely love hearing what other people are finding – I have never heard of any of these! I am super intrigued by the Daily Harvest smoothies! I may have to try the Proper Good Squash and Carrot soup too – it sounds delicious with coconut and turmeric. Thanks for the great recommendations!

      They sure are creative

  17. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    05/19/2020 at 7:20 pm

I like smoothies, but they don’t really stick to my ribs and I’m hungry shortly after having one. With that being said, I now want one! I’m loving having time to make decent breakfasts and lunches since I’m not always rushing out the door or downstairs to see clients. I’m not loving my huge cut in salary since I’m only seeing about 35% of my clients.

I’m loving that my hair is long enough to easily go into a ponytail without so many clips, but I’m not loving how it looks when it’s down.

I’m not loving how my nails look either, but I haven’t done anything other than trim them since my last gel mani on March 11. I still have a little brown polish left on my thumbs. LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/20/2020 at 8:24 am

My last mani was right around that time. All of my nails broke when I tried to get off the polish. They are slowly growing back
