If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am loving being outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. There is nothing quite like flying downhill fast on my bike with the wind in my hair -aah summer. Spin class has nothing on outdoor biking.

Ultimate Coffee Date July

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

My next Tri race is in 2 weeks and I am feeling pretty good about my runs off the bike. I have had a couple of good brick workouts and I am just hoping that will translate into a faster run time on race day. A bunch of my friends are signed up for this one too so should be a blast.

After seeing so many other bloggers doing the plank challenges, I was inspired to jump in. I am back planking daily and I forgot how great it feels (afterwards). I have to keep them up! Need some tips on perfecting your plank? Check here

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Even though it’s crazy hot out, I still enjoy drinking my coffee hot vs iced. For some reason, iced coffee doesn’t taste the same to me.

You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Good luck on your tri in 2 weeks ! I don’t like iced coffee, give me a big cup of hot any day !
I am still planking, it is doing wonders for my core.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 8:22 am

Yes to the coffee! I plan to keep up with the planks too

I prefer hot coffee, even when it’s hot out, but once in a while I’ll have an iced coffee. I agree, it doesn’t really taste the same. Good luck with your tri in two weeks! It’s an awesome feeling when runs off the bike start to feel good. 🙂 I’ve been planking and doing hip stability work on the regular for the last month and I definitely notice a difference, especially in the pool!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 8:23 am

I really do think the planks make a difference too. I have to keep them going 🙂

    07/02/2016 at 5:15 am

LOL! I don’t trust those iced coffee drinkers! That is not real coffee 🙂 I am up to 2, one minute planks! Now we are adding squats! It is making the summer zip write by! Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 8:23 am

Lol on the coffee 🙂 I am really feeling a difference with the planks too

  4. Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says

Yay for the planks! And yes, those people who don’t drink coffee? I don’t understand them. I look forward to my morning coffee.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 8:25 am

Morning coffee is what gets me up :). I am feeling a difference with the planks as well I need to keep them up

  5. Coco says

    07/02/2016 at 8:31 am

Definitely hot coffee, although I prefer my lattes iced! We’ve got such great weather this weekend – Perfect for playing outside.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:45 am

It was gorgeous this morning I was kicking myself for going to CPY instead of running. Great class though

  6. Shandy Jo says

    07/02/2016 at 8:56 am

I like hot coffee in the mornings, and on occasion a nice iced coffee is good too. Good luck on the Tri.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:45 am

Thanks so much! Enjoy your coffee 🙂

  7. HoHo Runs says

    07/02/2016 at 9:33 am

Good luck with your next Tri. Being with friends will make it even more fun. I still haven’t gotten the hang of running after riding. If I decide to do another, it’s also in two weeks. I can drink coffee both ways but prefer hot in the mornings. Thanks for the linkup!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:50 am

Running after riding is always harder than I think it will be. I have just had a few better runs lately. I think you have to accept that you cannot run your regular pace after a bike. I hope you do your race as well! We can crush it together virtually

  8. Karen says

    07/02/2016 at 9:38 am

I hope that Tri goes well for you 🙂
Summer biking is nice! I just love the breeze you can generate.
I was inspired to jump in and do more push ups las month 🙂 That good part of peer pressure lol

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:51 am

Yes peer pressure can also be good sometimes 🙂

  9. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

    07/02/2016 at 9:52 am

I do love my iced coffee in the summer, though most of the time I’m still drinking hot coffee regardless of the weather. Great to hear that your brick workouts are going so well! I try to plank daily and now I’ve joined Marcia’s squats challenge :0

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:52 am

The planks are great and I hope to keep them up! Now there is a squat challenge too?

  10. Jess @hellotofit says

    07/02/2016 at 10:19 am

I have to plank daily because of some instability in my back – I can definitely tell when I haven’t been keeping up with it!
    Happy weekend, friend 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:53 am

I am definitely feeling the difference of adding them back in. I have to keep it up. Have a great weekend

  11. TriGirl says

    07/02/2016 at 11:48 am

Yes! Hot coffee for me too! I do side planks in my core workouts, but I have a lousy tendon in my elbow that doesn’t like long planks so I have to skip the challenges.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:57 am

Hot coffee for sure! Side planks work too. Have a great weekend!

  12. Darlene says

    07/02/2016 at 11:56 am

Iced coffee is great but it’s definitely not the same.

I need motivation to plank. I skipped the pushups – can’t do them.

This months is squats…I don’t know about that.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 11:57 am

I know why does it taste different when it is iced? LOL You can do the challenge just start slow

  13. Lauren @ Lauren Runs says

    07/02/2016 at 12:27 pm

I have been putting ice cubes in my coffee lately! You caught me! I have been avoiding Starbucks, so not too much on the fancy iced coffee side of things. I’ve been trying to plank more, but no official challenges for me. Basic training is enough! 🙂 Thanks for organizing this link-up!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 9:24 pm

I just think it tastes different with the ice cubes in it! Funny huh? I just realized I have not done my plank yet today 🙂

  14. Marsha says

    07/02/2016 at 12:51 pm

Coffee any way for me! lol! Hot every morning but at Starbucks on our bike rides, sometimes it’s hot, sometimes, iced, recently it’s been a coffee light frapp! I planked in June and continuing with a 2 minute plank every day. I’ve been biking a lot due to a recent knee injury. Thankful that it’s summer time and cycling season!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 9:29 pm

I too love cycling season and it’s way cooler than logging in long runs. I am at around the 2 min plank as well and I love them

  15. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    07/02/2016 at 2:17 pm

Well, I don’t drink coffee but I feel the same way about tea — I don’t do iced tea, and I still drink my green tea hot in the mornings. Luckily it’s not crazy hot here & when it is, we have a strong AC.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 9:31 pm

Even when it’s crazy hot I need my hot coffee in the morning.

  16. Emily @ Out and About says

    07/02/2016 at 4:25 pm

Good luck at your tri in two weeks! I am really glad you are feeling strong and had some solid brick workouts. You are going to tear it up! You are right on the spinning vs outdoor cycling – there’s something about the fresh air blowing in your face that a spin bike just cannot compete with, for sure. Great planking form and I love the beautiful outfit you are wearing in the photo!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 9:32 pm

Aw thanks I am really excited about my next race just hope it’s not too hot

  17. Akaleistar says

    07/02/2016 at 8:36 pm

Oh, planks! I need to get back to doing those…

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/02/2016 at 9:35 pm

I just realized I have not done mine yet today!

  18. Farrah says

    07/02/2016 at 11:17 pm

This year is flying by so quickly!! I love being outdoors and enjoying the sunshine too! <3

I should probably start planking again too–I need to work on my core! 😛

    Good luck on your tri!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/03/2016 at 2:24 pm

      Thanks! Love the planking!

  19. Laura @ Laura : Fat 2 Fit says

    07/03/2016 at 8:15 am

Good Luck with the Tri! I’m sure it will be a blast, especially as you have friends doing the same race!

Up until recently, I was not much of a coffee fan and was more of a tea drinker. I think it just took the right coffee.. now I have to have one every morning, haha!

I definitely prefer a hot coffee in the morning.. though that might be because it tends to be freezing with the AC in my office and it keeps me warm! 😉 I love a good iced Latte in the summer though!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/03/2016 at 2:24 pm

Funny up until about 5 years ago I never drank coffee. I don’t think I could live without it now!

  20. Michelle @ Movin' it with Michelle says

    07/03/2016 at 8:29 am

I never drank coffee before…until my husband deployed 4 months ago and my sleep became obsolete LOL. I drink it hot, and it has to have some sort of flavor to it. I started a planking challenge on my page/blog May 1st, and have been going strong every day! 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/03/2016 at 2:26 pm

Yay for the planking! It really feels good doesn’t it!?

  21. Erica @ Erica Finds says

    07/03/2016 at 9:29 am

I drink my coffee hot year round, too! Even after running. My friends think it is strange. Have a happy 4th!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/03/2016 at 2:29 pm

Ha ha I don’t think it’s strange at all!

  22. Kristy from Southern In Law says

    07/03/2016 at 3:46 pm

I am totally with you on the hot coffee! I’ll still drink coffee and tea hot in the summertime because that’s just what I prefer!

Mind you, there’s times where I’ll make my decision based on whether a cafe is air conditioned though if I’m running around at meetings, haha!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/03/2016 at 5:48 pm

I agree! Thanks for stopping in today have a great 4th

  23. Laurie says

    07/05/2016 at 9:25 am

LOL I just got the Coffee joke! That is so true! Warm coffee for sure!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/05/2016 at 12:09 pm

      Yes definitely!

  24. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says

    07/05/2016 at 1:09 pm

Haha, I’m actually team Iced Coffee…it’s the only way I can drink it! I am joining in on the planks too, I really lost my form so I’m pretty much starting from scratch!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/06/2016 at 10:28 am

starting from scratch is good sometimes!
