thanks for joining me and Kim the weekly run down. This week we continued to tour the fascinating country of Japan and were lucky enough to have a few days in South Korea as well. Bucket list items ✅. Here is a peek into my week of travel and fitness.

Japan and South Korea Weekly Run Down

Sunday-stretch class + tour Hiroshima

We spent the morning touring Hiroshima. It was really fascinating to see, hear about and read about what happened here in 1945 when the atomic bomb was detonated on the city. We toured the peace park and the memorial museum. It’s so interesting to witness the vibrant, blooming city of today contrasted to what happened here 80 years ago.best to view my IG for all the photos.

Monday-touring Beppu island

We enjoyed a full day of exploring the island of Beppu, Japan. It’s the home of the one 50 most active volcanoes in Japan and numerous geothermal hot springs. You can see the steam coming out of pipes all over the city-it’s pretty cool. We took a tram to the top of the mountain and then hiked around to see the 7 “lucky gods” and views of the city. Later, we saw some of the hot springs called “hells” that were just breathtaking. Fun day! I did get in a Pilates class at the end of the day and clocked in over 12K steps.

Tuesday-touring Busan, South Korea + full body strength + peloton hike

Today we woke up in Busan, South Korea! It’s the 2nd largest city in S Korea and is primarily famous for its fishing markets. We had a tour of them this morning and then walked around the bustling city for a few hours. It is really modern with sky scrapers but also very Asian at the same time. They are very into K pop and Korean beauty products. I snagged a few of course because why not!?

My videos are much better than my photos. Later, I finally got in another proper workout hitting the gym and 12K plus steps.

Wednesday-upper body strength + core + spa day

We opted to stay on the boat today as we are in Jeju, South Korea. Vacationing is tiring! We hit up the gym this morning and then the spa in the afternoon for a great hot stone massage. We will be back at it touring tomorrow.

Thursday-visiting Huis Ten Bosch and Sasebo, Japan

This town was literally like walking into a Dutch city in the middle of Japan. Full of windmills, canals and European looking architecture. A fun diversion in the middle of an Asian adventure. I got in 2 Pilates floor classes in the afternoon.

Friday-lower body strength + power walking

This was a day at sea which allowed me time to get in a proper gym workout and nice power walking around the ship’s upper deck. The sun was shining and we relaxed and read in the afternoon. Heading back into Tokyo, we can spot a snow covered Mt. Fuji off in the distance.

Saturday-reformer Pilates class and sailing back to Tokyo

Our last day on the ship sailing back to Tokyo. I took another Pilates reformer class which I am really liking. I’ll be searching for a place at home to do this. We have a few more days in Tokyo this week so look out for more photos from our adventures.

Sunset over Tokyo as our ship docked was pretty spectacular!

It sounds like you’re having a fabulous time! That picture with Mount Fuji in the distance is very cool – so artistic! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Have you taken Pilates reformer classes prior to these you’re taking while on your trip? I have not, but one of my clients from years ago quit her big corporate job and became a Pilates reformer teacher. She loves it! I keep meaning to reach out to her and take a class.

I have taken a reformer class a few times while traveling other places. I really liked it but don’t’ have the patience to go to a group class so I may see if I can find a private class. Yes Mt Fuji is pretty majestic!

That photo of Mt. Fuji is very cool. And love the sunset too.
It seems like Pilates is a perfect balance to all the sight-seeing you are doing. A reformer class sounds horrible to me — so NOT my jam!

How is the food? Are you eating a lot of fish?

I did like the reformer class a lot! I have eaten a lot of sushi but completely off of my normal diet and that is sometimes hard for me

This trip looks AMAZING!!! Love the photos. The pilates class sounds pretty brutal (I’m laughing at Coco’s comment above.) Most people go on a cruise and gain weight, complaining that the food was too abundant- but not you! There you are in the gym working out, and getting in 12K steps. Sounds like you’re hitting the perfect balance of working out, but still enjoying your vacation.

Oh I have definitely eaten way too much! I have been walking a ton but not getting my normal workouts in-I will worry about that nest week 🙂

You seem to have good opportunities to get some workouts in and with proper equipment too while away! So interesting to read about your trip and those spots in Japan. That photo with Mount Fuji on the other side is really cool. Is it taken with a phone or a camera? There’s some cool painting-like effect in the water!

A great trip: tourism, architectures, adventures, nature, activities to stay fit and much more.
    Great pictures of wonderful places.
About fish: what a pity I don’t like sea food despite I was born and I live on the sea and I was a sailor.
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
