Things Are Getting Real! Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. Things are definitely getting real! With the wedding now less than a week away, it’s a daily sprint to get last minute things done. Don’t worry, I still got in some super solid workouts this week.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday-Pilates + upper body + stretch

We woke up to a rainy day which was perfect for an active rest day. I had only planned in the Pilates and stretch class but opted to add a short 10 minute arms and shoulders class with light weights. I also started organizing and planning for our post wedding vacation. My husband decided we needed our own little honeymoon and I need to start packing for that already because I won’t have time next week. Good problems to have!

Monday-Pilates + full body strength + power walk

I really enjoyed this full body class that used the bench for some split squats, incline pushups and rows. Later, I met a friend for a nice, hilly 3 mile walk. Not the most attractive photo but here it is.

Tuesday-Pilates + chest & back strength + power walking

I was super productive today! After running a bunch of errands, I got in a great 30 min Pilates ball class coupled with a spicy upper body strength on the bench. I love to use the bench for things like chest presses because it offers such a deeper range of motion making them much more challenging.

Later I participated in a research study at the large local hospital here. Yes, there are still research and drug studies happening. This is a drug company hoping to get FDA approval for their early cancer detection blood test. There are other brands on the market that already do this. I had a blood draw that will be used to detect any early cancer evidence. Fingers crossed on that and will find out in 6 weeks. I then met up with a friend for a late afternoon 3 mile walk.

Wednesday-core + arms & shoulders strength + power walk

Today I hit the arms and shoulders and a longer core class before popping out for a walk. Later, it was Mahjong with the girls day. I rushed home to change and meet my husband for a fun restaurant opening in DC. Busy and productive day!

Thursday-core + Pilates + full body workout

It was a busy day of wedding errands but not until after I got in my workout. I also for some reason decided today was the day that I should start cleaning my patio for the season. It was way more involved than expected with the massive pollen pile up. Well, it’s a start!

This full body class had 10 sets of pushups! I’ve really learned to love them and they make me feel super strong. We must have done 50-60 during class. I do still hate burpees and don’t love mountain climbers.

Friday-mobility + core + full body strength

Today’s full body class using the bench was super spicy! Think weighted step ups, triceps dips, chest press and split squats. Darn those Copenhagen planks! Yep, going to feel that tomorrow. I also liked this quad and hip flexor stretch with the back foot on the bench.

Saturday-core + Pilates + arms and shoulders

Does running around like a crazy person count as exercise?! One week until the big day! Someone also thought it was a good idea to have my mom’s 80th birthday celebration Sunday evening. Oh yea, that was me. It’s all good things just busy! Wedding week is here!

    One week to go!
I love how you’re still keeping your workouts consistent through all the wedding prep. 50 – 60 push-ups in one class is intense!
That’s an interesting medical study to participate in – early cancer detection will help a lot of people.

All the best for the wedding!

WOW! The big day is almost here! How exciting! I’m sure you’ll keep up your fitness routine to help you stay grounded. I’m looking forward to hearing all the details.

My nephew’s girlfriend works for a physician who does Alzheimer’s research. He does a genetic test and my nephew tested positive, meaning it’s in our family–but not that he’ll necessarily develop it. I would want to know if I was prone to cancer, but I’m not sure about dementia–unless they develop a way to treat it or prevent it. Interesing to think about…

    Have a great week!

You are in the home stretch! I love that you are going on your own honeymoon after all this! <3

I had to park my car outside overnight b/c of work on our roof and it was full on yellow by morning!

I have let my push-up strength wane and really need to build it up again.

Wedding week!!!! I’m so excited for you! Great idea to plan a post-wedding trip, because I imagine there would be a bit of a letdown after the big day is over. i absolutely cannot wait to hear all about it!!!
Those strength workouts sound super spicy! I’m imagining how sore you must be… oh wait, I don’t have to imagine it. I’ve been sore all week after my return to strength training.
Have a great week! Good luck with everything!

Exciting times for you! But oh how busy with the wedding, AND your mom’s 80th birthday, and travelling on top of that. Although a holiday for you and your husband sounds like a nice idea after the wedding.
It seems like you had a really good workout week with lots of good strength work. 50 pushups sound very spicy indeed! And I totally agree on the chest press, I’ve only tried it on the floor once and I really didn’t like it. If I want to do chest work and don’t have a bench I prefer doing pushups or Renegade rows instead.
    Enjoy the wedding!!

    It’s happening!

Happy 80th birthday to your mom! That’s a huge one and needed to be recognized! And now it’s full steam ahead for the wedding! It’s going to be great!
