Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. This week, I was determined to make the most of what I can do right now and not dwell on what I cannot. I had walks and talks and lunches with my friends near and far. I’m getting by with a little help from my friends.
Weekly Run Down
Sunday- 3 mile walk + core + barre
Summer finally made an appearance and brought it’s heat and humidity. I got out for an early walk then spent the afternoon lounging by the pool with a friend. I also had a phone chat with Coco.
Monday- 2.5 mile walk + Upper & lower body strength + core + stretch
Summer made a fierce appearance today with hazy, hot and humid weather and big storms. I got out early for a walk with my friend Jenny. Headed home to do some Peloton strength with Jess and Marty and Emma. I pulled myself out of my IG slump and posted again,
I had a nice “marathon” session phone chat with Wendy and then cohost Kim which definitely helped. Thanks you 2.
Tuesday- Peloton cycle 45 min + core + stretch
Nothing like singing out loud to a few Madonna classes to get me out into a better mood. I felt like I had a pretty decent workout. Then it was off for a new hair cut and color. I told my hair guy he could have free reign and I needed something fun for the summer. It’s very red!
Wednesday- 3.5 m walk + Upper + lower body strength + core + 3 mile walk
I kept pretty busy and active today. Started with a morning walk with a friend and then headed home for some Peloton strength. Later, I met up with a few more friends for an afternoon walk and then dinner with another one of my besties. I also squeezed in a phone chat with Cari. It was a busy and better day for me.
Thursday-5 mile run/walk + stretch
This was much more a walk than a run however, I am so happy to be back out there with some of my friends. I am currently allowed to exercise if I keep my HR around 140 which is not so easy in the summer heat. Going to keep dong what I can.
Friday-Peloton walk + upper & lower body strength + core + stretch
I am enjoying the Peloton tread walks as a warm up to strength work. Feeling a lot better today. I also had a nice lunch with a friend and a massage.
I reshared one of my favorite Pasta salads on IG. Apparently pasta salads are all the rage this summer. This one with grilled pineapple, peppers and tofu is so good and it’s vegan.
Saturday-45 min Peloton cycle + stretch
This was one of the best workouts I had all week. It’s much easier for me to get a longer cardio sustained workout on the bike right now. Even better, I hit my 9K minutes on Peloton.
I am feeling a lot better this week and so grateful for all the support from my friends near and far.

You know I am always here for you. I am so glad that you are taking control of your health. You are such an inspiration! That you don’t take anything you’re told at face value is a strength that will serve you well on this journey. I’m glad that you can start moving more. You got this!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks Wendy and as you know, knowledge is power and it helps to feel like you have some control over your own body. Thanks again for the chat!
Marcia says
I’m so sorry the heath issues have you sidelined from running. Looks like I missed something while I was away. I hope all is well and good for you for doing what you can. The heat and humidity was ridiculous this week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I am still trying to figure out some things regarding the exercise but I will get there. Perhaps not as fast as I’d like to
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I know it’s been a struggle, but glad to hear it was a better week this week! I actually enjoy the variety in my workouts (when I’m not feeding Bandit, LOL, which is much of my day!).
It won’t stay hot and humid forever — you’ll be running again!
Glad you had such nice talks with everyone.
Deborah Brooks says
I also love the variety but like it when it’s on my own terms 🙂

Friends are the best. ESP. Running friends near and far.
Call or text me anytime.
It’s hard not to run but at least you have other activities that keep you fit.
Chin up. Hopefully you’ll be back soon.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I hope so too 🙂
Coco says
I’m glad you are feeling the love. We are here for you, wherever here is. 😉
It’s good that you’ve got some guidelines you are figuring out — it’s great that you can do longer rides. Let me know if you want to go on the W &OD.
I love your hair!
Deborah Brooks says
I will be gone most of July traveling but I’d love to when I return. It’s time to get my bike out again
Debbie says
I’m so happy to hear that it’s been a better week, both physically and mentally. Friends are the best and we’ve got a wonderful group here in this linkup! Sending hugs for continued healing!

We do and thanks so much Deb

I’m so sorry to hear you’re still not better. But glad you’re at least feeling a little up this week. thinking of you!
Deborah Brooks says
Things did go a little better this week thanks
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m so glad things felt better for you as the week wore on 😉 Your attitude is on-point, and you’re taking charge in getting answers. And, you’re not sitting idle. Your hair looks great! You got my number…call anytime!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Kim appreciate it. I am trying to do what I can
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Glad you had friends to keep you busy and listen. Great support system! I swear I am falling apart this year. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. 55 has not been my best year so far. But we’ll hang in there, right? Your hair color looks great! Mine is very blond this year. I do like it, but hate when the roots come back.
Deborah Brooks says
getting old is not easy is it!?
Liz Dexter says
Glad you’ve had all that support, that’s lovely! And the new red hair looks fab! I have a haircut on Wednesday and am going to ask to go shorter for the summer – Martyn is never convinced I can keep it up so I am going to book in my next appt there and then!
Deborah Brooks says
That’s what I do with my hair appointments so I always have them on the books.
Jenny says
First of all, I love your hair!!! Ever since my daughter dyed her hair, we’re big on red hair around here.
You could have titled this post “It’s a Wonderful Life.” That’s what I kept thinking while i was reading it. “Remember, no man is a failure who has friends.” (If you haven’t seen the movie of course you have no idea what I’m talking about.) I’m glad you have so many friends to boost you up! It looks like you kept very active this week- you can never go wrong with lots of strength training. And it sounds like you have more traveling coming up? I hope you have an amazing time!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Jenny I do feel very lucky to have so many friends near and far. You included! I am resilient and I will figure out how to move forward from this as soon as I get all the meds straightened out. We do have a fabulous trip coming up and I look forward to forgetting about everything and just having an amazing time.
San says
I love that you have so many local friends to work out with. When do you usually work out (in the mornings? And where did you meet all the awesome workout friends?
Your red hair looks rad! Love it!

I am very lucky to have so many friends to workout with. I met most of them when I started our Moms run this town group 10 years ago.

I’m so glad you’re feeling a little better. I know this has to all be so incredibly frustrating.
Your hair is gorgeous. Red can be so empowering!
