February 2020 Ultimate Coffee Date Runfessions

If we were having coffee, I would Runfess …

You may recall my mentioning about a year ago that I signed up for an adult Bat Mitzvah program. Well that year has sure flown by because it’s tonight! There are 12 of us in my group tonight, all of us becoming adult Bat Mitzvahs. I would Runfess that I am a little nervous about reading from the torah (in Hebrew) in front of so many people. Admittedly, I did not know how to read Hebrew at all before this class. I did not want a big “to do” but I am having a small celebration tonight with my besties. Stay tuned for some pics on Sunday for the Weekly Run Down.

If we were having coffee, I would Runfess…

I can’t believe that Rock N Roll New Orleans is next weekend. Wow this month flew by! I am excited that my husband is coming along this time and we have a few fun tours on our agenda. He is a big foodie, so there will be lots of good eats. I may not be able to walk afterwards but I am excited about the half.

Just call me the blog linkup queen! I am joining Debbie, Rachel, Lisa, Jen and Smitha for the new Wednesday “Runners’ Roundup”. What’s one more linkup? I actually love them and find I have really been able to connect with so many more bloggers and readers. We hope to encourage a much broader range of posts relating to running and wellness. With this “six pack” of runners you can expect lots of great content. Look forward to seeing you there.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Mazel Tov! You’ll do great, I know (now imagine doing it at 13!). Although I did go to Hebrew School — and sang in the Junior Choir. I was a bit nervous about speaking at my Dad’s service, and wasn’t quite sure I’d actually do it although I’d written something. Seriously, I know you’ll be fine.

We definitely ate our way through New Orleans, and we did a couple of tours, too. I’m already looking for a food tour of Portland when we’ll be there this Summer . . .

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/31/2020 at 7:49 am

Thanks Judy I just have to not look up during the torah reading lol. My kids keep telling me they did it at 13 so I have nothing to be nervous about

  8. Erica @ Erica Finds says

    01/31/2020 at 7:42 am

Mazel Tov on the Bat Mitzvah! My stepmom did that in her 50s. It was really cool. I imagine it’s more meaningful as an adult when you have more life experiences!

I’ll check out the new link up!

    Good luck in NOLA!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/31/2020 at 7:50 am

You know I would have to agree with that to some degree I guess it is! Thanks and yes hope to see you over on the Wednesday linkup as well

Congratulations on the Bat Mitzvah!! So exciting! Enjoy the celebration.

If we were having coffee, or tea for me :), I’d runfess that I’m a little nervous with how my knee will hold up now that I’m routinely adding mileage on in order to train for my half marathon in March. I’m doing what I can in terms of strength exercises but you just never know I guess.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/31/2020 at 10:16 am

Know you really never do know. I am working on adding mileage back too. Just listen to your body and take rest when you need it
