It feels like it’s been so so long since we sat down for a cup of coffee and just caught up on our lives. It’s the first Saturday of the month, so it’s time to link up with my friends Jill, Lynda and Nikki to share what’s been going on.
If we were having coffee… I’d give you a great big hug and tell you it’s been way too long since we’ve hung out. Love your new haircut! Yep mine is getting long-I’m getting it cut this week. Why yes this is a new bag-Mother’s Day present. My husband is not a flower person really but he does enjoy getting me new bags. Nice!
If we were having coffee…I‘d tell you that I never thought I’d quote Oprah, but I just love these new coffee sleeves at Starbucks! I especially like, “You are not here to shrink down to less, but to blossom into more of who you really are” and “Follow your passion. It will lead you to your purpose”. Makes you think huh?
If we were having coffee…my treat this time-what would you like?” I am going to have a skim latte. When it gets a little hotter I love the iced unsweetened Passion Tea. It just tastes better when someone else makes it. I think I will add learning how to make ice tea better to my summer list. What can I get you?
If we were having coffee…I’d tell you it’s been a crazy, busy past month since we last met. We finished up our Girls on The Run season with our 5k. I ran with one of our girls and it was such a great experience. You can read all about it here. I can’t wait to coach again this fall and I hope to bring in the Girls on Track program for the older girls to our school.
If we were having coffee...I’d tell you that I can’t believe my baby just turned 14. He’s taller than everyone in the family at 5’10” already. His lacrosse team made the finals and we are off to the semis today. Fingers crossed we make it to the finals tomorrow. He loves playing goalie although it scares me a bit.
If we were having coffee…I’d tell you that my daughter is on her way to Spain in a few weeks to live with a family and immerse herself in the Spanish culture. She usually goes off to summer camp about an hour from our house so it will be strange to put her on a plane to another country for 4 weeks. She will be with a group of about 40 other teens so I know she’s safe but I will most certainly worry about her. I think it will be a great experience for her and give her lots of needed independence.
If we were having coffee...I’d tell you how excited I am that I am finally back to racing after a long rehab on my shin. I just did the Zooma Annapolis 10k a few days ago. It felt so amazing to be in the racing atmosphere again. I missed it so much. I am so thankful to be out there again. I’m trying to take care of myself so I don’t get hurt again. Love the post race foam roller. Of course, I am already scoping out which races to do this summer. It’s so addictive-isn’t it?
If we were having coffee…I’d tell you how much fun I had hosting a Nat’l Running Day fun run for Rock n Roll. As the “Ambassador of Rock” for the DC race, I get to throw “rockin” parties to promote the race. It was a great night with a huge turnout. All the details here. I really enjoy watching how excited everyone gets and how enthusiastic they are when talking about their races.
If we were having coffee…I’d tell you that I am so excited to be going up to Vermont in a few weeks to be spending the weekend with my old college roomie. We haven’t really had alone girl time together since college. She has all kinds of hikes and runs planned for us. It looks so beautiful and peaceful up there I’m really looking forward to our girls’ weekend. We got into all kinds of trouble in college but that was before husbands and kids and it was 20 years ago!!! Wow!
Well enough about me, If we were having coffee what would you tell me?

Awesome awesome awesome! Spain – I am so jealous. I hope she enjoys it. It is great when our children get to immerse themselves in other cultures. Muy beneficial. My son started playing lacrosse this year at age 7 and I hated when he played goalie. I would jump every time the ball flew into his face mask or leg. LOL. I just couldn’t watch it. I prefer when he plays middie or whatever you call it. As you can see I am just now learning the sport along with my husband. LOL!!!
Great job w/ the GOTR 5K. I hear it is a great program. LOVE the bag btw perhaps I can talk my husband into getting me one – he loves to shop for me. BTW what are you getting your husband for Father’s Day? It’s a week away and I have no idea what to get mine.
Great having coffee with you – until we talk again take care. *hugs*

It is scary when the lax balls are flying right at them. They come in a lot faster at 15. I’m just learning all the rules of the game too. The bag is cute-hubby did a nice job on it. I am getting my husband a smoker for the grill for Father’s Day. Just what a vegetarian needs right! Great seeing you for coffee see you soon.

Thanks I am so happy that I am feeling better too! I just need to take it easy and not re injure myself. Easier said than done huh? Hope you have an amazing trip this summer.

Wow, you have a lot going on! Good luck to your son’s team. I sort of miss the days when our weekends were taken up by lacrosse tournaments, although not when it was 100 degrees! It sounds like your daughter is in for a great experience. I’m not a huge fan of iced tea, but I like the shaken iced tea lemonade.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks 1 game won and 1 to go tomorrow in the finals. Yes I’m excited for my daughter and kind of jealous! I like the ice tea lemonade too. Have a great weekend!

I love that bag! What a clever idea for a Mother’s Day gift, I’ll have to pass that little hint along next year. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Hints definitely don’t hurt at this house! Have a nice weekend!

Just stopping by your blog & was fully entertained. When I was 16 I went off to Spain for 4 weeks as well! It was an amazing experience and though I freak out at the thought of my daughter doing this, I know when she’s old enough, I can’t deny her the opportunity. You are wise the send her. Looking forward to hearing about it!
Deborah Brooks says
So glad that you stopped by! I know she will have a great time and of course I will worry. I am sure you will hear all about it on our runs. See you soon I hope!

How exciting, your daughter heading off to Spain! Oh my gosh, what an amazing time for her. Our 13 {almost 14} year old is also 5’10” and size 12 shoe. Looks like this mom will be the short one of the family. Congrats on the Ambassador for Rock and your Zooma race. Mine is in two weeks and I am feeling the butterflies in my stomach. Thanks for having coffee Deborah 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I love having coffee with you all! Can’t wait to see you next month. Your son sounds just like mine-they grow so quickly at that age. You are going to have a blast at Zooma looking forward to reading all about it. Have fun!
