The day I did all the Pinterest workouts I pinned

So if you are anything like me, you’ve been “pinning” away all kinds of great looking workout routines onto your Pinterest boards. You may have spent countless hours wasting time searching through your home feed for months to find the perfect routines. You’ve got “rock hard abs”, “amazing legs” “cardio killer” etc cued up and ready to go. Have you ever actually done any of the workouts you’ve pinned?? Ha! Me either! Until today when I was motivated by my Thanksgiving over indulgence to do as many as I could. Sometimes you are just in the mood to do something new and I figured the day after Thanksgiving was a good day to give it a go. Here’s what I did:

The Warm Up-I love this routine designed by my friend Tina. It’s great before a run or any workout. She has some great advice and demonstrates proper form on her youtube channel as well.

Active warm up
found on TinaMuir.com

Time to “Hitt” the elliptical. I had to modify this a tad because my elliptical doesn’t incline. I did the first 45 min of this one. Seriously, was a much harder routine than I expected. I was sweating buckets after this one. Found on HeandSheEatclean

I seriously could have stopped here but I was determined!
Up next:
Medicine Ball Core Workout from Pumpsandiron
Medicine ball workout}|core
found on PumpsandIron

I loved this routine! I was challenged in a good way and really felt my abs working. I will be doing some of these moves again. The only one I had trouble with was the plank roll out with the medicine ball. Need to work on that.

Next up: “14 Moves for the perfect Bubble Butt” (A girl’s gotta dream right??) found on Skinnymom.com

found on Skinnymom.com
found on Skinnymom.com

The wall sits were a lot harder than I remember. I felt my hamstrings and abs a lot too perhaps because I had already done the previous routines. This site has great instruction on the exercises and helpful photos. I will be doing this one again. It is staying pinned on my board.

The day I did all the @Pinterest workouts I pinned- feeling pretty #badass

And finally, just to burn the arms out I did the “20 Epic Battle Ropes” exercises. I’ve been a fan of battle ropes for about a year (read my post here) and love the way they burn my arms out at the end of a workout. It’s like doing sprint training for your arms. They are easy to add into a home or gym routine and have I find have a big return. I learned a few new ways to use them with this routine from Greatist.

Battle ropes|workout|arms|exercises

All of this took me well over 2 hours to complete. I was completely exhausted/feeling pretty bad ass! I am pretty sure that these were not meant to be done back to back like this but I’m crazy like that so you don’t have to be! I feeling very accomplished and pretty sure that I am on my way to six pack abs and “bubble butt” what ever that is. So I will be keeping these routines on my boards just in case I am feeling ambitious.

So tell me, do you do any of the exercises you pin on Pinterest or is it a colossal waste of time? Inquiring minds want to know?

I have kind of a set routine, so I have never pinned workouts. However, I am super impressed that you actually did 2 hours of hardcore workouts. Nice job!

Wow, that’s awesome that you did all of these in a row! I’m definitely guilty of pinning things that I forget to go back and use. Though they’re often tips on form or things like that which I try to keep in mind when doing my regular workouts.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 12:44 pm

oh I pin those as well! It’s addictive on there 🙂

How fun! I did a bunch of new-to-me workouts over the Thanksgiving break, as well. I did one of my Mom’s old 80s workout dvds (ha!), a tabata workout, and a workout I like to put together using a deck of cards. It was fun to do some new stuff 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 3:04 pm

It is fun to do something new once in a while and use different muscles. I remember those old videos!

I have to say I have not pinned any workouts. I’m so bad about just running, except in summer when I slalom waterski. It would probably help me to do something else! 2 hours…girl YOU ROCK.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 3:08 pm

ooh waterskiing! haven’t done that in like 20 years. I used to love it as a kid.

  12. Sharon says

    12/03/2014 at 2:47 pm

Nice!! Great job on doing all those workouts from Pinterest! I have done a few yoga poses after running that I have Pinned on Pinterest so it’s not a total waste of time. 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 3:09 pm

Ha ha I can get very lost on there sometimes for hours

  13. Mary says

    12/03/2014 at 3:08 pm

I am guilty. I have never tried those workouts but have thought about it many times. Maybe this post will start a revolution of woman everywhere! I love the moves in the medicine ball workout. I do some of those on my own and love it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 3:17 pm

Ha I think many of us are. The medicine ball workout was great and I will be doing that one again

  14. RFC says

    12/03/2014 at 3:32 pm

I love that you did all of them 🙂 I usually try out the workouts I pin or at least use them for ideas to come up with my own workout. What I NEVER do is actually COOK the food/recipe pins I save. That should be my next challenge…cook all of the pins 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 3:54 pm

ha ha yes! Cooking all the pins could be very dangerous but I’ve found I do use a lot of the recipes and it is a great way to keep them organized.

Way to kick some serious butt! I love that you did them all back to back. Way to get it! I usually do my personal workouts (when I’m not teaching) at home, so I really do use a lot of the ideas I get from Pinterest. I will totally admit that I pin more than I do, but I have found some of my favorite workouts on there.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 10:24 pm

I think I’ve found some of my favorites too! It’s always fun to do something new and challenging too

  23. MCM Mama says

    12/03/2014 at 8:02 pm

I love pinterest for quick workouts. If I just have 15-20 minutes, pinterest rocks. I can’t imagine doing more than one, but in all honesty, if I have more than a half hour for a workout, I’m going to run.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 10:27 pm

I needed something to do on a non running day. I love to cross train as well. It’s fun to do something new and I love a challenge

  24. Debbie @ Live from La Quinta says

    12/03/2014 at 8:14 pm

Nice job on the workouts! Honestly, I’ve NEVER done a single workout that I’ve pinned (except mine 🙂 ). Maybe I ought to do something about that.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/03/2014 at 10:28 pm

LOL I think most of us are guilty of that!

  25. Coco says

    12/03/2014 at 9:56 pm
