You know that annoying feeling when you press play at the gym or on a run and that same song you just heard in car comes on? I was getting very bored of my playlist and so my daughter finally took pity on me and made me this fantastic new playlist on Spotify I was excited to find some of my old favorites from years ago that I had completely forgotten about. We can all use a little music revamp right? Today I offer you a few new (old) songs to spice up your workout mix.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Isn’t it fun to revisit songs from the past? I’m more of a rock and roll kind of gal, and my playlist has some old chestnuts from Aerosmith, The Allman Bros, and Boston right now…

      12/30/2016 at 8:56 am

I do love old Boston and Aerosmith too great motivation

Ooh, I better check out your list too! I’m definitely more rock & roll!

I don’t listen to music much, except in the car, anymore (which is kind of sad). You’ve definitely got some good ones on your list (and some ones I don’t know).

In a tribute to George Michael (man, this week was sad) — “Wake Me Up Before You GoGo”

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/30/2016 at 8:57 am

Yes I now need to add that one for sure!

Admittedly I usually listen to a good book, but sometimes I need to feel like I’m dancing down the road. Now I’d better join Spotify!

Haha!! I have hungry like the wolf on mine…. I also have Britney Spears Oops I Did It Again…. and a lot of Shakira! I need to add Take On Me!

    • Deborah Brooks says

I have Try Everything by Shakira from Zootopia. I knew immediately that I needed that song, and bought it when I got home after seeing the movie. I do have staples and songs I love, but I rotate them out and back in so I don’t get tired of them.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/30/2016 at 11:46 am

Love me some Shakira too I will add that one thanks!

I’m still mad at my phone for losing my playlists. I know I should be mad at myself for not backing them up. I need to suck it up and make new ones.

  8. Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says

    12/30/2016 at 11:22 am

Ha, I only know 2 of those songs. I’d say I need an update as well but i’m not good downloading things to my ipod so it takes me longer than it probably should!

I mix up my music pretty frequently. Most recently, my yoga instructor did this amazing track of violin covers, and it was so emotional that I found the selection on spotify and ran to that. I use the Hamilton soundtrack frequently, and I have a good blend of old and new stuff in my iTunes.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/31/2016 at 8:29 am

Wow that sounds really interesting I may check it out as well!

  23. Anna @ Piper's Run says

    12/30/2016 at 9:41 pm

I love Gwen Stefani’s old stuff (Hollaback girl), it brings back good memories. I haven’t had much time to put play lists together but might have to start making this a priority again soon.

      It’s a great workout song

  25. Karen - Fit in France says

Your sweat mix looks just like mine ! 🙂 If you throw Titanium (Sia & David Guetta) in there on every other song then we would be best song friends.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/31/2016 at 9:42 am

Yes love that song it was kind of my motto last year. Need to add it back in
