Thanks for joining me and Kim for the Weekly Run down. I am ISO my running Mojo this week. Have you seen it? Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

ISO My Running Mojo

Sunday- 45 min barre + core + 3 mile weighted vest walk

I took on the 45 min barre class to finish out week 2. I must admit that 45 minutes of barre is above my interest level but I am committed to finishing the challenge. An afternoon walk with my weighted vest and a friend was perfect.

Monday- upper body strength pull + core + 2 walks

Never miss a Monday! It’s week 3 of Rebecca’s split strength program and day 1 is upper body pull. Biceps on fire! Later, I met my mom for a walk and coffee and then headed out for my own solo walk to get a few more steps in.

Tuesday-3.5 mile run + core + stretch

I awoke to a 10 degree temp drop accompanied by a humidity drop-yes I’ll take it. It is still summer for sure but this break gave me a little peak into finding my running mojo.

Brooks Running

Wednesday-Peloton hike + lower body strength + core + afternoon walk

Wednesday workout on point with a Peloton walk warm up followed by lower body strength and core. Later, it was too nice out not to take another walk with my weighted vest. I shared all the benefits of walking with them in my post here.

I made a quick and easy cucumber edamame salad with a spicy peanut dressing you must try! 5 minute prep no cook.

Thursday -4 mile run/walk + 3 mile walk + core + stretch

Well, that running mojo was not present today. I woke up not really wanting to run. These are the days where discipline is so important because motivation is not always there. You have to tighten up that ponytail and get it done.

Running mojo

Later, I had a 3 mile walk with my vest while chatting with Cari.

Friday – 3 mile walk with vest + Peloton upper body strength + core + barre

I headed out for another weighted walk before finishing off week 3 of my strength program with Rebecca. Today was upper body push (one of my faves), core and the start of week 3 of raise the barre. Later, we met some friends for dinner.

Friday Fashion OOD

Saturday -rest day

I did my morning stretch and core but otherwise rest day. We took advantage of a pool day at home together. One of my new fave Summersalt suits. Too old to wear a bikini but still want to look cute. PS they are having a gigantic sale.

Weekly run down

Still ISO my running mojo. Looks like we might have some cooler mornings this week and I hope that will help.

Dare I say that I hear on the radio that we might have “fall like temps” this coming week? While I love the lower humidity, I don’t enjoy the cooler mornings when I’m on my bike.

I am looking forward to this week’s advertised cooler weather. Definitely different on a bike. I am having trouble commenting on your blog again so not sure if they went through

It’s been cooler here and it does help with the running mojo, although the water was cold for yesterday’s ski! Can’t have it all, I guess. That suit is really cute! I’m struggling to find suits that I like but don’t look frumpy.

Oh check out Summersalt they have really flattering suits and a big sale. Hoping we get some of the cooler weather being advertised this week

Never too old to wear a bikin but your suit looks really cute!

I definitely enjoy running more when the weather is nicer. We had a few great mornings last week.

The humidity is still so high but hoping this week is better!

We are supposed to have a cool down. Yesterday’s humidity was awful.

Love that suit. And you rocked it.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/18/2024 at 8:37 am

yes the humidity is just awful and really slows me down. This week does look better

  5. Marcia says

That’s a very cute suit! Yes running mojo often fades with the heat and humidity but we get it done, one way or another. Sounds like a fun week!

I am hoping this week’s temps will give me a little boost

My mojo is strong, but I’ve had to be cautious with my recent recovery (and healing body). I have the IMT Des Moines 13.1 in October, so I need to keep things in perspective. Hopefully, you get more consistent cooler weather soon!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/18/2024 at 12:30 pm

      yes always a good idea!

  7. Jenny says

I think you could pull off a bikini if you wanted to- but the suit you have is very cute!
I think it would take a lot of mental fortitude to get through a 45 minute barre class.
Somehow I missed your ost about the weighted vest, but I’m going to read it now!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/18/2024 at 12:32 pm

I have been obsessed with the vest I really love it. Yes to the 45 m min barre but I am determined to finish

  8. Cari says

    08/18/2024 at 9:55 am

You are not too old to wear a bikini!
Yay pool days. I love your skirt from Monday’s weighted walk!
    Always love our catch ups

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/18/2024 at 12:34 pm

      Always love our catchups!

  9. Catrina says

    08/18/2024 at 12:32 pm

I love how your swimsuit matches the pool!
By the way, I tried out a tip today that you gave me a long time ago: it was raining, and before I left, I put conditioner into my hair to avoid knots. It worked a treat!! Thank you so much for that tip!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/18/2024 at 12:36 pm

Oh so great to hear that it worked for you!

Some of my friends are doing the Barre program and I bailed because of my other priorities right now, but I hear you on the “non-interest” of 45 min Barre classes LOL

I am glad you got some cooler temps and humidity – at least for a little while – and totally agree on the discipline > motivation. It really helps to not argue with yourself if you want to workout or not, you just do it!

That bathing suit is super-cute. Great choice!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/20/2024 at 6:47 am

You do just have to do it whatever it is. I am hoping to get that running mojo back soon

  11. Jenn says

    08/19/2024 at 2:37 pm

So glad someone got a temperature drop. It’s so gross here.
That cucumber salad looks so good. A was just asking if we could make one for us. K can’t have soy sauce so we have to team up for our favorite Asian-inspired foods.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/20/2024 at 6:48 am

Cucumber salad is always a great idea! Hope you have better weather this week too

  12. Jessie says

    08/20/2024 at 8:42 am

Great job sticking with the barre! I can do 45 minutes in a studio, but not at home. You’re committed, well done!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/21/2024 at 8:25 am

I am committed to finish the program but 45 min is definitely long

  13. Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says

    08/22/2024 at 9:04 pm

Well done getting that 45 mins of barre done. I did a Pure Barre class once. It was tough! I needed the teachers to stay focused.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/24/2024 at 3:19 pm

It was a little too long for me honestly!
