HiLit Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining the weekly run down with me and Kim. This week, I jumped into one of Peloton’s new programs-HiLit+ with one of my favorite instructors. It’s a 6 week program combining high intensity strength workouts with low impact cardio. Perfect timing for me as we are not traveling again until mid August. Let’s see how it went this week.

HiLit+ Weekly Run Down

Sunday- power walk + core

With morning temps slightly cooler, I headed out for a nice power walk before heading over to my parents’ house to celebrate my dad’s 88th birthday. He is doing a lot better, feeling stronger and looking lots better. We were so grateful to celebrate with him. None of the grandkids were in town but they all FaceTimed in which was nice.

Monday-lower body strength + low impact cardio + stretch + afternoon walk

Today was the much anticipated, very hyped new Peloton HiLit+ program start. After the quick warm up, it was 30 min of lower body strength. After the strength class, there is a 10 min low impact cardio class. Normally, I would blow this off but I’m giving it a go this time around. Surprisingly, I really thought it was fun to do some old school aerobics for a change. Later, it was still gross out but not 100 degrees so I was able to get out for an after lunch walk before the thunder storms.

Tuesday-reformer Pilates + outdoor walk

Today’s HiLit class was a 45 min outdoor walk which paired perfectly with my Pilates reformer class. It was about 85% humidity which was kind of gross but I always prefer to walk outside when I can. We had another round of giant thunderstorms last night and lost some big branches.

Wednesday-core + upper body strength + low impact cardio + outdoor walk

I enjoyed the combination of upper body strength and low impact cardio. The cardio had some fun boxing moves and even some grapevines. I enjoyed more than expected. Later, it was Mahjong Wednesday. My friend had this really cute candy themed set.

Thursday-Pilates + outdoor walk + stretch

Today’s HiLit plan called for Pilates and an outdoor walk. I was able to get that in before today’s round of thunder storms.

Friday-power walk + lower body strength

I met a friend for a very humid, weighted vest power walk in the morning followed by a lower body strength class. we had lunch with my son and then met some friends for dinner. I completely forgot to take a photo-maybe we were having too much fun.

Saturday-low impact cardio + upper body strength

I finished off my first week of HiLIt+ with a low impact cardio class and an upper body strength class. We met another group of friends for dinner tonight in Georgetown.

I enjoyed my first week of the new Peloton program and plan to stick with it for 6 weeks. My thought of the week is: more is not always better. Sometimes going the “extra mile” doesn’t always serve you long term. Thoughts?

Agree! More is not always better. It reminds me a bit of running: garbage miles don’t help, it’s better to do a shorter run, but with intent.
Nice that the new HiLit+ program is a success! Do you feel any changes of the additional low impact cardio?

Wait, is that your dad sitting down in the top picture? He looks super fit and like he’s in his 70s at most! Good to hear he’s getting stronger and his energy back.
That’s a lot of thunderstorms. Here we’re having some hot weather but a bit cooler now with more wind.
To me whether or not going that extra mile is good or not all depends on the how – if it’s in the fitness context it’s if you get the recovery you need, get properly fuelled for it, and so on.

So glad you were able to celebrate with your Dad — he is looking good!

We did have a lot of storms this week — ‘tis the season I guess.

Glad you are enjoying HiLit. I decided it’s not to time for me to be pushing with weights.

    Love your yellow dress!

The HiLit class sounds like a great program! I struggle with keeping my cardio workouts short, but think I did pretty well last week with my Power Zone classes.

It’s great to hear that your dad is feeling better and was home to celebrate his birthday!

You look gorgeous but your husband’s shoe game is unreal. I need to see his lineup to show my husband, who struggles so badly with footwear.

It’s funny… Peloton was everywhere and now it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth. I wonder if this new program will be a big boost for them.

Great week! It’s always 95+% humidity here so I relate. Just how it is.

Your dad really does look great! Happy Birthday to him- so glad he’s feeling better.
You and your husband look amazing. That dress- his shoes!!! People must really notice you guys (in a good way) when you’re out like that.
The new program sounds good- it’s fun to mix things up like that.
More is not always better! Especially when it comes to lunges. Just saying.
