How To Create A Pinterest Worthy Cheese Board

Start out with a great canvas. I like to use a marble board like this one or this round one  however any large platter will do.

cheese board

Add 4-6 types of cheese with varying textures (hard and soft) and tastes (mild and sharp). I always like to include a Brie because everyone loves Brie. Cheeses flavored with seasonal items like cranberries juxtaposed with a spicy flavored cheese wins over everyone.

Cheese Board

Pile on all the crackers. I like to mix in some breadsticks for visual effect and a combo of square and round crackers. A blend of rice crackers and wheat crackers works well for those with any gluten free requirements.

Cheese Board

Sweet and salty is a fabulous combination and all great cheese boards also have some sweet fruits such as grapes, apples or pears.

Cheese Board

Now it’s time for a little crunch and texture. Mixed nuts, olives and snack mix are tasty additions that everyone loves to snack on. If you want to get a little daring, add some chocolate covered almonds or cashews as I did here. Really anything goes that you have in your pantry.

  18. Sarah says

    11/06/2017 at 12:08 pm

    Beautiful!!
I’m not a big cheese person (which is good since my tummy doesn’t like it) except when it came to cheese platters and wine! The last few years since testing dairy in Ireland it’s the one time of year I give in and test my tummy with cheese platters and sometimes it goes better then others but is all has to do with the cheeses.
This year should be interesting with S’s new lactose and tummy issues and her love of cheese. I know there are many without lactose and ones aged longer are easier on the tummy but still not sure what we’ll do.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/06/2017 at 1:54 pm

Cheese is the reason I am not a vegan-I am not sure I could survive without it

A good selection of cheese is definitely one of the easiest and most impressive appetizers you can set out. It’s a go-to for us. We have a wonderful local co-op, Puget Community Co-op, that has a great cheese selection. Some of our favorites: Dinah’s Cheese (local for us), Humboldt Fog, Cranberry Wensleydale. And you are right, gotta have the grapes!

I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year – I do every year as well as a post-race brunch on Thanksgiving morning.

Your cheese board is lovely and I’ve pinned it for later use. I make a large antipasto platter for our Thanksgiving appetizer. In addition to a couple of cheeses, I add Italian meats, deviled eggs, olives, roasted red peppers, marinated mushrooms, artichoke hearts, crackers, etc. It gets inhaled!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/05/2018 at 7:06 pm
