Ever heard of Hello Fresh? I hadn’t either until I was contacted by them to do a review. You all know I love to cook and so do my kids so we were happy to oblige. Here’s how it works:

2. We go shopping for you

Sit back and relax while we do all the work. We source only the highest-quality and freshest produce. We’ll also introduce you to ingredients that you won’t find in your local supermarket.

3. We deliver to you for free

4. You cook amazing meals in your own home

We take easy cooking to a new level. Recipes typically take only 30 minutes and don’t require fancy equipment. Our mission is to help people make nutritious and delicious meals in their own homes.

The first meal we tested was Lemony Shrimp Linguine. As you can see, we received wonderful-looking peppers and lemons with a generous amount of seasonings. I prepared the recipe in less than half an hour. Because I am a vegetarian, I took half out and put it into a second pan without the shrimp for me. I added in some tofu that I had and Voila! I had 2 meals ready to go. My kids loved their shrimp and asked if we could make it again. Hello Fresh|Lemony Shrimp Linguine|Meal delivery|

Hello fresh|Lemony Shrimp LinguineThere was plenty left over for someone to have the next day for a snack. We did supplement the meal with fruit.

Next, we created the Steak & Brussels Sprouts Stir Fry. We had to leave the sprouts on the side because my kids would never eat those! I was again impressed by the quality of the steaks, the freshness of the veggies, and the generous amount of spices.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

This sounds really cool but also a bit pricey! I love that these options are out there. I am trying to do better with making healthy meals on my own…but this looks like a good shortcut for once in awhile! #wowlinkup

I tried Hello Fresh a few times- just so so for me. Some of the ingredients were a little lackluster in the freshness factor. I do like the concept and may try one of the other companies out there 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/17/2014 at 12:27 pm

Really?! I thought the ingredients were so fresh especially the spices. I didn’t eat the meat myself but the kids said it was good.

      12/17/2014 at 4:11 pm

I like the fact that they are all fresh ingredients and not frozen. My kids really liked helping out with the cooking. For some reason it was much more exciting.

Cool! We have one here that I use once meal a week. They give you the recipe – often from a local “celebrity” chef – and put all the (locally-sourced) ingredients in a bag for you to pick up. I love it!
