Time to join in for another weekly wrap with my favorite hostesses Tricia and Hoho. This week has been a little bit of a roller coaster which has led to a bit of a change of plans. You may have remembered my excitement about participating in the Ragnar Napa Valley in November. Well…

Change of Plans

With the devastating and apparently unrelenting fires in the Napa area, our race is cancelled. I am so heartbroken for the people out there who are literally losing everything in a matter of minutes. It is just incredible how quickly these fires spread and how they leave such a vicious wake in their path. I’d be lying if I did not admit I was really disappointed.

Anyway, our team members are now trying to get refunds for airline tickets and hotels and van rentals. It’s kind of a mess but we are all safe and sound and that is the important part.

Here’s my quick run down of how my week went:

Monday- 1 mile treadmill run + 60 min strength training

Tuesday- 4.25 mile run

It was summer like again and really challenging but happy to see that my overall pace is improving the last few weeks. Posted my slightly odd but highly effective partner hamstring stretch.

Wednesday- 1 mile treadmill run + 90 min of kickboxing & strength training

Always my hardest workout of the week and my sweatiest. I was reminded how hard these Renegade Rows are!

Thursday- 5 mile run

What a difference a few days make! The fall weather was back and we soaked it in.

Friday- pseudo rest day 45 min easy elliptical

Saturday- 1 hour hot yoga class

Sunday- 6 miles on the plan

In true me fashion, once I realized I would not be running Ragnar, I started signing up for all kinds of races for November and December. Hopefully, I can keep myself from over doing it. It’s so hard not to sign up for things isn’t it?!

    That is so disappointing that your race is cancelled. It’s just awful how bad things are out there. Hopefully you can find some other fun races to make up for it!

    Sorry to hear about the race cancellation. I feel so bad for all the people losing their homes. The fire spreads so quickly.
    I would do the same….signing up for other races!

    Renegade rows are seriously so hard! I’ve tried without weights just for practice on the move and it works up a sweat.

    So sorry to hear about the race but understand the reason to cancel the race. Watching the news about the fires has been devastating – I feel so bad for everyone that lives there and hope the fires can be put out soon.

    I think it’s good that you registered for a few November/December races!

    Reading the stories of escape out of CA is so horrifying. Ragnar made the right decision – I hope you can get refunds. Any chance the Wilson Bridge Half made your last-minute list? I just signed up this week.

      It is pretty scary out there! I did not feel like a half was a good idea. I signed up for the Veteran’s Day 10K on the 12 downtown and I am thinking of maybe the 15K jingle all the way. Interested in joining?

    I’m not at all surprised that your race was canceled. I am surprised that RnR LV wasn’t! We received an email last week that the start line and course route is changing. The logistics for this have to be a nightmare.

    What races are you going to do instead of Ragnar?

      I can understand your fears and jitteryness (that’s prob not a word) about Vegas. I do think that guy was a lone wolf and like Boston it will be just fine. I signed up for another 10K and I am thinking about a 15K in December. I am trying not to do too much too fast so my PF comes back. It’s a struggle as you know

    So sorry to hear about the Ragnar getting canceled. But you are right, glad that everyone is safe. Hopefully the fires are controlled soon. Great job with your workouts this week! What races are you eyeing up? My problem is with the spring….I might do 6 half marathons. Whoops!

    I’m so sorry to hear about the cancellation of Ragnar Napa! Although it is a horrible situation, it is understandable if you and your team are disappointed It is something you’ve been looking forward to for months. Signing up for something else sounds like the perfect antidote. Thanks for linking!

    It’s OK to feel disappointed – I would’ve been if Vegas had been cancelled. I’ve been following the news in Napa since I was there two years ago, and I feel so bad for everyone out there.

    I’m so sorry your race is cancelled, but hopefully you’ll find another great race, and the fires in the valley also die down. Your week of running and other training looks great! My schedule changed fairly drastically this week, as I decided not to run a marathon I’d been preparing for, after hearing that only 300 people run it, and there are no supporters and the route itself isnt closed to traffic. Basically, bad. So now I’m stuck in a bit of a loop because I’m still training, but now I don’t have the race at the end to look forward to…

      That must be really frustrating too! Races that are not closed to traffic can be quite dangerous so sounds like you made the right choice

    What a bummer about Napa Valley Ragnar! Well looks like you will have plenty time for other races. It is hard not to sign up for them. This is the perfect time of year when all the great races take place.

    The destruction in Cali is devastating! It only makes sense to cancel Ragnar,but that just adds another challenge to the mix. Good luck with getting all the refund details worked out…and have fun finding “replacement” races 😉

    I have been thinking of you & wondering what would happen. Of course it’s devastating for the people and businesses there, but it had to be hard for you guys, too.

    This time of year is my favorite time to race! Although I tend to wait to see what the weather’s doing first. 🙂

    Oh, Deborah, I’m so sorry to hear this. It awful what that area has been hit with. I do hope companies will be sympathetic and yall will get your full refunds!
    Ahhh seeing the picture of the Renegade Rows, (I had no idea what they were called) reminds me my trainer hasn’t had me do these in some time, I sure hope she doesn’t see this either!
    You do sound like me signing up and then hoping it’s not too much! Lol, it is a sickness isn’t it! Have a great week lady!

    I integrated a one-mile treadmill run on my cross training days as well, but recently I haven’t been spending as much time in the gym – well, I think I’ll have to change that after reading your post!

    I am so sorry that you won’t be able to run Ragnar Napa Valley. I’ve been thinking about as I watched the devastating fires on the news. Any chance you signed up for the Run With Santa 5K in Reston in early December?

    Sorry to hear that Ragnar was cancelled but I totally understand why. It is so sad about the fires. We had a couple of customers that visited our Fleet Feet store and they lost everything. It’s really devastating to see and hear their stories.

    On a happier note, looks like you had a great week of workouts! Great to hear you have been signing up for all the races in Nov. & Dec.! 🙂

    Oh, I will have to try that awkward but effective hamstring stretch with the hubs after our next progression run. My hammies stay so dang tight!

    I actually thought about you the other day while watching the news coverage of the Napa fires and wondered if the race would be canceled. That is a bummer but like you said …the locals are the real victims. So very sad and devastating.
