Thanks for joining Coco and me for the August Ultimate Coffee Date linkup today. These are some of my favorite posts to write and to read. If only we could all have coffee together in real life. I’ve got lots to tell you today so let’s get right to it.
August Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I made an actual Coffee & Date Zucchini Bread to eat while I am having the Ultimate Coffee Date with you. I was so proud of myself for coming up with the idea and knew it was the perfect way to use the homegrown zucchini my friend, Gail, gave me. Funny thing-when I was taking it out of the oven somehow I dropped it right on my kitchen floor. Huge mess!
Fortunately, I had enough ingredients to completely start over. My Coffee Date Zucchini bread came out even better the second time around. I can’t wait to share the recipe with you tomorrow for Meatless Monday. Sneak peak in the photo at the top of the post.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
My clumsiness did not end there. Oh no! I somehow forgot to put my coffee mug under the Keurig when I brewed it and well, you can imagine the mess. I feel like there should be some sort of sensor that does not dispense the coffee if there is no mug there. Don’t you agree? I have no idea why I have been such a klutz this week.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I am ready to move on with August. We have a busy month ahead before school starts. We are working on getting everything organized to take our daughter back to school in Indiana in 2 weeks. My son will be coming back from overnight camp next weekend after 7 weeks. We have a few days of us all together.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
We did not really have time for a vacation this summer but we are sneaking in a quick one to Nantucket in a few weeks. I have been stalking the temps and I could not be more excited to run in the cooler temps. I hope that is just what I need to get my running mojo back and log some longer runs.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? Thanks for joining us for the August Ultimate Coffee Date. See you tomorrow for Meatless Monday.

Nantucket sounds beautiful! Enjoy the end of summer! I agree with the Keurig comment there should be a sensor!

I know! I have been so ditzy lately not sure what is up but this girl needs her caffeine to think straight.
Coco says
Oh, man, I’m not sure which I’d hate more, having to clean up the coffee or having to start over with the baking! At least you knew the bread wasn’t going to stick to the pan …..
Deborah Brooks says
Well yes there was that!

I feel like some days are just clumsy days! That bread though! I will definitely tune in on Monday! Yum! I love Nantucket- what a great vacation! Have you ever been? We go to Block Island off RI mostly and have done MV, but Nantucket has its own island-personality- so fun!
Deborah Brooks says
I have been to Nantucket but not for a few years. I am so looking forward it! Thanks for linking up today

If we were having coffee, I’d proclaim,”Klutzes Unite!!!” And I’d attempt to “clink” our mugs together (rather gently). I’d also share with you that last fall, we were having a potluck at work.I brought meatballs in my crock pot. As I was getting in my car to drive to work, the thought crossed my mind to place the crock pot in a box (to prevent it from possibly tipping)…but, nah…the pot was full (and heavy)…there was no way it would tip. Well, you can probably guess how this story ends…just as I pulled into the parking lot, there it went. Thankfully, I was able to salvage most of the meatballs that were “on top” of the spilled mess, but my car smelled like rotten meat for several weeks.

om my I am laughing my butt off! That’s way worse than my little mishap
Janice @ Salads4Lunch says
Ha ha ha – you are as coordinated as I am ๐ I love the honesty. I’ve definitely made coffee with my Keurig without a mug before too – usually at 5:30 am when I’m in desperate need for a coffee before my morning run. It sounds like you have a busy month planned, enjoy the time with your kids!
Deborah Brooks says
I have been super klutzy lately! Thanks yes August should be great.
Cyndi says
Yum looking forward to the bread recipe! Clumsy days happen. Recently I roasted some vegetables. I turned the oven off but left them in the oven…..didn’t find them until the next day! The weather in Nantucket looks perfect!
Deborah Brooks says
that is so something I would do!
Marcia says
I love the idea of Coffee Date Bread but yikes, not on the floor! Hate when that happens. I agree with you the Keurig should have some sort of sensor. What a mess. Cannot believe how quickly summer is winding down now.
Deborah Brooks says
It sure is flying by! I am ready to get back into a normal routine
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I have definitely had my share of kitchen mishaps. I’m not sure I would’ve started all over again! Sounds yummy. Will it debut Monday?
I only went to Nantucket once, but loved it. Running there would be hard, I think. Good luck!
Deborah Brooks says
yes I am posting my coffee date zucchini bread this Monday ๐
Teresa says
Oh my those cooler temps of Nantucket do sound wonderful! Can’t wait to follow along on that trip through IG!
Your zucchini bread look delicious and I’ll second the Keurig sensor idea ….don’t feel bad as I’ve done the same thing. Thank you menopause brain! ๐

Yes I imagine that must be my problem as well! I am really excited about Nantucket

Oh no! That sucks about the bread on the floor. ๐ I bet you’re super excited to have everyone together for a few days before your daughter heads back off to school.
Deborah Brooks says
I really am! It’s so much harder as they get older to find time to all be together
Farrah says
That zucchini bread sounds amazing! I think I’m gonna start baking again when it’s fall/winter, haha. Way too hot to turn on my oven right now!

I’m guilty of brewing a whole pot of coffee…without the pot. Several times. Thankfully this was done at my office and not at home. Although I did still have to clean it up. ๐ The weather in Nantucket is looking nice! Thanks for the coffee date!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes definitely better in the office! ๐
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
When I start dropping things, etc, I have to remind myself to be more mindful! It usually means I’m feeling overwhelmed…
Deborah Brooks says
That’s probably exactly what happened!
