Whew, I do need a cup of coffee! It’s been a super busy few months and it doesn’t look like things are slowing down. It’s all good though! It’s time for the October 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date with me and Coco. Grab your mug and favorite drink and let’s catch up!
October 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
No one was more surprised than we were when none other than George Clooney and his wife sat down right next to us at dinner in New York last weekend. It was a very small restaurant and they were about 6 inches from us. So technically, we had dinner “with” George Clooney. We could hear a lot of their conversation. Apparently, it was their anniversary.
Of course, we played it cool as we did not want to be those people and whip out our phones. I have to say he is just as handsome in person. He was sitting to the right of our giant make your own ice cream sundae that we shared with our friends.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I’ve never been a fan of running in the summer heat and humidity. In previous years, I sucked it up and pushed through as I often had a fall half marathon to train for. Iv’e eased way back on running this year and took the whole summer off. I have not run since end of June. During these past 3 months, Iv’e ton a ton of strength classes and logged many weighted vest walking miles.
I always thought it was “normal” or acceptable even to always have something aching. You know what I mean, waking up to have a stiff lower back or a tight feeling hamstring. These little niggles never really phased me as they were just part of my life and easy to manage or ignore.
The one thing I’ve really noticed this summer is that nothing hurts. It’s, in fact, not normal to wake up every day and have something achy or sore. I’m not sure when I will start running again but for right now, I’m enjoying how strong and pain free my body is feeling.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
I’d tell you the same, since I’ve stopped running, I no longer wake up in pain. I didn’t wake up in pain from running for many of the years I ran, though, just in the last six years or so of running. But, yes I hear you on waking up with a stiff lower back.
LOL on having dinner with George Clooney and his wife. 🙂
It is amazing to wake up and not feel any aches and pains. I am not sure I am done for good for right now I am not feeling it
6 inches definitely count as having dinner WITH the Clooneys! Cool that you played it cool.
Every morning, I test to see what hurts before I get out of bed… right now it’s an achy hamstring. There’s always something! I think I will need to take a week or two off before the next training cycle.
I got to a point where I just expected something to ache all the time and it feels good not to have that happening at the moment
I’m so glad to hear that no long running hasn’t fazed you–that you’ve found other ways to stay fit! I’m not there yet, but I can say that trail running has also helped me cut back on feeling achy. Except when RA is being a jerk…
How cool that you saw George Clooney! He is yummy.
I don’t know if I am done running forever but it was a nice break for my body this summer. He sure is dreamy!
How fun to dine with George Clooney! 😉
LOL on not waking up with any niggles. With lower mileage I’ve avoided running injuries, but I am always stiff from long hours at my desk.
yes he sure is dreamy in person! I am enjoying not waking up with aches and pains right now
The other day after my run my husband asked if my hamstring felt “normal”. I didn’t really know how to answer that question! I’m not sure what a “normal” hip/hamstring is supposed to feel at this point. Anyway- glad you’re feeling good!
I’m so unobservant, it wouldn’t matter who sat next to me at a restaurant- I wouldn’t notice them. Then later everyone else would be like “OMG can you believe George Cloony was right next to us???” Huh? I was just eating my sundae… lol.
oh he is hard to miss!
It’s definitely interesting what you get “used to” – glad to hear the strength training is working for you.
it is interesting what we get used to!
Dinner with the Clooneys! And, that heavenly sundae for dessert? Wow, quite the experience(s) 😉 That’s amazing how you’re feeling, sans running. I thought of you this morning… I remembered to strap-on the weighted vest for my walk! I need to figure out a way to be more consistent with that routine (I even have it stored by my front door, zLOL).
ha like anything else it just has become part of my routine. I do have it next to the door and shoes
That’s an awesome star sighting! They’re a beautiful couple.
Do you think you’ll pick up running again in fall? You picked a good summer to skip. The humidity has been brutal!
you know, I don’t know at this time
What a fun celebrity sighting!
And I love that nothing hurts. What a wonderful side effect of easing back on the running!
yes, I am not sure what will happen but for now I’m good
Oh how fun to see George and Amal! I’ll bet it was challenging to keep your eyes on your own party. Haha! I only really got achy after long runs for marathon training but I have to say I do love not feeling that way any more. Sounds like the weighted vest walks are a great substitute.
