Thanks for joining me and Kim for the Weekly Run Down. This week, gave me an opportunity to head back to NYC for a few days of fun, pizza, Peloton and a Billy Joel concert. My plan is to see if I can caption or relate all of my posts and pics for the second half of the week to Billy Joel songs. I am definitely in a New York State Of Mind.
I’m In a New York State of Mind
Sunday- 3 mile walk + stretch and core
A low key day with lots of errands and some recipe creation.
Monday-Peloton walk + core + upper & lower body strength + cycle + another outdoor walk
I opted outside for my warm up walk in observance of Earth Day. Returned to my home gym to get my Peloton strength and cycle in. Later, I met up with a friend for an afternoon coffee walk in the beautiful weather. And later, celebrated Passover dinner with my family at my sister’s house. Happy Passover to my friends that celebrate.
Tuesday-4 mile run + stretch
It was a gorgeous sunny spring morning and perfect for a quick run.
Wednesday-Peloton hiking class + Peloton cycle
In preparation for my visit to Peloton studios this weekend, I wanted to cue up my classes to be in a position to get a live shoutout. I got off of the waitlist for a 45 minute hike on Sunday and realized that I have never taken a 45 min hike class. A little intimidated!
If you missed my Mother’s Day gift guide, check it out here.
Thursday-6 miles of walking + travel to NYC
We hopped on an early Amtrak from DC to NYC and had all afternoon to walk around. It was a gorgeous afternoon and perfect for a meet up with my favorite New Yorker, Cari. We walked through Central Park and had a glass of wine before I headed back to my hotel to meet up with my husband for dinner.
Cue the Billy Joel songs: “Uptown Girls”
“Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”
Friday-Peloton in studio day! + 6 miles of walking
I did not sleep well and was up super early but nothing would stop me from getting to my in person Peloton class with Jenn Sherman for a 30 min 80’s rock ride. The class flew by and I had a blast. More on that in my coffee date this week.
”This is my life” (Billy Joel)
After a walk back to hotel and shower, we were off to one of our favorite NYC Pizza places, John’s on Bleeker Street.
And finally, it was time for the big concert! Of all the times I have been in NYC,I’ve never attended an event at Madison Square Garden. We were lucky enough to score tickets to one of Billy Joel’s last concerts here. It was an epic sing along with all of his best songs. He still has it at age 75!
I’m definitely “In a New York State of Mind”
Saturday-So much walking
We slept in and then headed back down to the Village for lunch. One of our favorite restaurants from Rome opened an NYC location, so of course we needed to check it out. It was amazing as expected and will most likely get a whole IG reel at some point.
”only the good die young”
It’s been a whirlwind few days and I am enjoying being in a New York State of mind for a few more adventures. As you are reading this, I am headed back to the Peloton studios to take another class and fan girl over all things Peloton.

I LOVE Billy Joel!!! I’ve never seen him live though- that must have been incredible. Sounds like you’re having an amazing time with all your favorite things (Italian food, Peloton…) I can’t wait to hear more about it!

Kimberly Hatting says
What a great week, especially all the NYC fun! Billy Joel is amazing…I’ve seen him twice (once on his own, and the other was with Elton John). He’s really 75? Wow, hard to believe!
Deborah Brooks says
We saw him with Elton John years ago as well. He is still rocking it
Susanne says
What a fabulous week for you! So you managed to get into two live Peloton classes?
And Italian food too! All big wins!
Amazing that people are still out touring at age 75. Peter Rowan, bluegrass guitar player and singer, visited Ireland recently, sadly we missed the gig. He’s 81!!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes lots of the old time performers are still touring. I did get into 2 live classes! Lucky!
Jenn says
Absolutely amazing! I’ve seen Billy Joel a few times (once with Elton John), but never at MSG. He’s truly one of my favorites.
What a wonderful week you had – thank you for sharing all the food and the sights! You know NYC has my heart.
