Wow first Saturday of the month again?! Time to join up with Jill, Nikki & Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date. These ladies really know how to throw a party so grab a chair, sit down and join us for a cup of coffee or tea.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you...I’m surprised by how much I’ve come to really like coffee. I used to drink it once in a while just to be social but now I NEED it to stay sane in the morning.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m still reveling in our post Ragnar bliss and I am super excited because our team just won a free entry into The Cape Cod Ragnar next May!! Those babies are addictive so “Moms Do It All Night Long” will be back for part 2.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I am so looking forward to seeing “Gone Girl” this weekend. I read the book way back when and loved it. I hope the movie lives up to the book. I like Ben Affleck but didn’t really picture him in this role.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I just started coaching the new season of Girls on The Run this week. This season I am bringing in the middle school program-Girls on Track for the 6th grade girls. They really seem to like being treated as teens and having a more mature curriculum. Looking forward to a fun season with them.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I will be running the Army 10 Miler next weekend for the 2nd time. This will be my longest run since I came back from my stress fracture. I am feeling good and know I can do the distance. I have to keep reminding myself that I can’t expect to do as well as I did last year when I had a lot of longer training runs under my belt. I am honestly so happy to be back where I am. This race is so inspiring for a number of reasons. As you come into the last mile, The Pentagon in front of you, you see the huge American Flag and immediately feel a sense of patriotism. Looking around you see men and women in uniform running with heavy backpacks & American Flags. You see wounded warriors refusing to give up and that always gives me that little push at the end.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I am really obsessed with Honey Crisp apples. They are so good and sweet. Add a little PB and I’m in heaven. You know what they say, “An apple a day…”.
If we were having coffee I’d tell you…As part of my duties as the DC “Ambassador of Rock” I will be throwing their Fall kick off party on October 23. If you live in the DC area, you don’t want to miss this one it’s going to “ROCK”.
If we were having coffee…What would you tell me?

I have a love/hate relationship with Army 10 miler, so I managed to keep myself from signing up this year LOL. I’m hoping to get involved with GOTR again once my kids are a bit older. It’s such a great program!
Deborah Brooks says
It will be my 2nd time doing Army-it is really crowded but I love the atmosphere. I couldn’t coach GOTR until my kids were older but I love it so much. Hope you get to do it again sometime.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Congrats on the Ragnar contest! That is AWESOME, so jealous! I haven’t read that book yet, It’s on my list!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s exciting to have another Ragnar on our schedule. It’s addictive. I hope you do it again next year in DC and have a better time. Doing it with your own peeps makes all the difference.

Apple + PB = one of the greatest snacks on the planet! I love Honeycrisp, and I also enjoy a good Gala or Empire apple, too. Anything but red delicious; those don’t deserve to be called apples 🙂
Best of luck on the Army 10-miler! I’ve heard great things about that race.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha I agree on the red delicious. Remember when we were little and they didn’t have all of these types of apples around all year? I am excited for Army should be lots of fun.
Akaleistar says
“Gone Girl” looks so good! The book was such a ride, and I can’t wait to see how the movie handles all the twists.
Deborah Brooks says
ok I saw the movie=it was really good. I can’t remember know how the book ended and if it was the same. I may have to read it again. Fun movie and the acting was great.
Emily @ Whatever Floats Your Oats says

I share your Honey Crisp obsession and the Starbucks inhaler is awesome!
If feels great to be uping the miles after an injury doesn’t it! You will rock the 10 miler and feel so good doing it!
Deborah Brooks says
The apples are so good-remember when we were little and they only had red delicious apples?! It does feel great to up the miles again-fingers crossed. Love the coffee dates
Mary Beth Jackson says
Good luck with the 10 mile run! That is awesome! I am super jealous about your Cape Cod Ragnar win- that is too cool. Part 2 indeed! How do you like being an ambassador of rock? I have never been to DC is that the race to put on my schedule for 2015? Happy Sunday!
Deborah Brooks says
Being an ambassador has it’s perks for sure! Oh yes if you’ve never been to DC it’s a great race bc you run by all of the monuments and landmarks. it’s a fun one. Nice having coffee!
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
I would tell you to ENJOY next year’s RAGNAR and I love your team name btw. Also I want to see Gone Girl but NONE of my bookclub friends are interested in seeing it. I just may have to go alone.
Deborah Brooks says
ok I saw it-really good! Ben Affleck was better than I thought he would be. All of the acting was superb. You should go see it! I love our team name too 🙂
Lynda@fitnessmomwinecountry says
Deborah, thanks for the coffee today. How cool about the Ragnar team. Why on earth I can’t get connected with a team out here is beyond me. I am so bummed, as I want to Ragnar so badly. I have not see the movie Gone Girl, but hear the reviews are great. My hubby just told me about the Honey Crisp apple the other day, I don’t think I have ever brought one home, {we eat Fuji} but I will look for one next time I am out. Only I am not sure if they are found in certain areas or not.
Have a great weekend 🙂
Christine says
I think everybody watch Gone Girl this weekend. I want to read the book first, so it will take a little while. How awesome to go to Cape Cod to run a relay!!! I’ve been there for vacation and LOVED it.
Deborah Brooks says
The book was so good but the movie was really good too. I know I am so excited for Cape Cod!
Coco says
Congrats on Ragnar! We didn’t get to see Gone Girl this weekend – maybe next weekend?! I am not feeling ready for the ATM at all — last weekend I did the Reston 10 miler, so last week I was recovering from that!
Deborah Brooks says
It was good! I think you are more than ready for the 10miler hope I see you!
Cynthia @ You Signed Up For WHAT?! says
I’ll see you at the Army Ten Miler! I have to check my calendar for the RnR thing – that sounds fun!
Deborah Brooks says
yes I will see you and 30k of our closest friends at the race. I am working at the expo Friday (at RnR booth) if you are there 12-5 come say hi. The RnR event should be fun.
Lauren @ Lauren's Glass Slipper says
I have heard such great things about the Army 10-Miler race…I hope the race goes well for you! I’ve done the Wounded Warrior half and I totally agree that seeing those soldiers press onwards no matter what is very inspiring!
Deborah Brooks says
They are inspiring! Brings a tear to my eye every time. I am excited/nervous for the race.
