I was really excited when I saw the topic for this week’s Tuesday on The Run link up with Erika, April and Patty. I’ve never done a year in pictures before so here it is!
2014 My Favorite Memories-A year in Pictures
Last New Year’s Eve-One of my favorite pics of my hubby and I.
In reality, I had one of my worst running years due to lots of injuries but still managed to squeeze in quite a few fun races and events. Check it out.
The JFK 20K-January 2014. The race I never should have done because I was already experiencing shin splints and the race was on an uneven trail in the middle of the Polar Vortex. Anyway, this was the start of my injury laden year. Otherwise know as the day I got my stress fracture-UGH!
Lots of Physical Therapy and no running. Lots of spin classes and me putting on a brave face. I got lots of support from my MRTT friends who joined me. No running for 8 weeks was pretty tortuous.
First day back running with my group was a day I won’t forget.
Coached my first season of Girls on The Run while recovering and did my first post injury 5k run with my team. Slowly but I did it!
My come back race the Zooma Annapolis June 2014. I had to do the 10k instead of the half but I was so happy to be running and racing again with all of my friends.
Team Triathlon with these girls and we came in 2nd Place! So much fun!
Running races with my son
By far The Best race experience ever was the Ragnar DC race in September. Great bonding experience and such a confidence booster especially after such a rough year of injuries. I can’t wait to do it again 2x this year in Cape Cod and DC.
My Most Meaningful Race was a race I didn’t even run. Because of the before mentioned injuries, I had to drop out of Rock n Roll DC last March. I had worked as the Ambassador and watched all of my friends train for it. I opted to work the finish line so I could see them all complete the race. It was the first half for many of my close friends and the first full for my very good friend, Alexandra. I was in tears at the finish watching them all cross and having the opportunity to place the medals around their necks. I was so proud of them all and was so lucky to be there to see them finish. Sometimes the best race memories are for races you didn’t even get to run.
Wow! I didn’t think I had so many great memories to post until I started going back and looking at all of them. Despite missing a few races, I had a pretty amazing year of memories and I can’t wait to see what 2015 brings.
What’s your favorite memory of 2014?

My favorite running memory is during summer vacation. Tons of paths in and around a golf course / next to the sea… with 2 weeks of good weather. Loved it ! And the fall race I do every year with my colleagues, the Parisienne. Perfect weather for 2014 edition.
Deborah Brooks says
That sounds like an amazing place to run! Hope you get to do it again this year. Have a great Holiday with your family.
Annmarie says
Looks like you still had a great year despite starting it off with an injury! I am hoping to do Cape Cod too but I am not sure my team is on board anymore 🙁
Deborah Brooks says
Oh I hope you get to do it! Would be so much fun to meet in person! I’m still trying to get rid of a few lingering aches and pains fingers crossed.

Loved looking back with you at so many great memories, despite the setbacks. I know 2015 will be a better year – we have so much to look forward to… Cape Cod and DC Ragnar, Rock and Roll Half DC, and many more (let’s do that Reston Tri again and kill it!!). Can’t wait to start our training runs 🙂 See you in a few!
