I really cannot complain about the weather when it has just wreaked havoc on so many thousands of people the past few weeks. I was all excited about pulling out my jeans and sweats but that’s not going to happen this week! I did have a pretty solid week of workouts. Joining in with the dynamic duo HoHo and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap Summer’s Back.
Weekly Wrap Summer’s Back
Sunday- hot yoga
Slept in and then enjoyed a hot yoga class. Keeping up my goal of yoga at least once a week. √
Monday – 1 mile treadmill run + 60 min strength training
Tuesday- 6 mile run
Celebrated one of my friend’s birthdays with a run (of course) followed by cupcakes.
Wednesday- 1 mile treadmill run + 90 minutes boxing and strength training
My hardest workout out of the week but also one of my favorites. This week we brought back out the battle ropes. I forgot how hard those babies were. Sore arms for days!
Thursday 6 mile run
Managed a few “speedier” miles in the middle of longer run. It got pretty darn hot at the end.
Friday- 26.2 mile bike ride
Hey if I can’t run a marathon, I might as well bike one! Gorgeous day for a ride.
Birthday celebration for 2 friends and fun Girls night out. It must have been some night because I slept for 11 hours! I do not know how that happened but it sure was nice.
Saturday – 2 hour Restorative Yoga Workshop
Very different than any yoga class I have been to before. What a nice change of pace and I learned quite a few new poses that I hope to add to my routine. Yoga twice this week!
That’s a Wrap! Thankful I was able to try something new this week. What was your favorite workout this week?

Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Nice job getting to yoga twice this week! The weather definitely feels like summer again. I actually think my hottest run since starting back was on Saturday. I forgot how much harder it is to run when its humid out!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh my yes it is. I was enjoying the cooler temps but they will be back soon
Cyndi says
The battle ropes look like a great workout! I felt “under the weather” this past week so I mostly used the treadmill for some short runs.
Protein packed breakfast cookies sound delish!
Deborah Brooks says
I really hope you are feeling better this week!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oooh, can’t wait for those cookies!
Sounds like a great week. I love battle rope! Wish I could afford some for the home. Pretty sure it would scare all the furkids (and rightfully so).
11 hours? I can’t imagine. I slept at least 8 last night — maybe a bit more — much better than the 6 hours I was getting the last couple of days! Have a great week.
Deborah Brooks says
I don’t know why I slept so much but aah it felt amazing! The ropes are super loud and yes they might scare the animals a bit.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I’d love to sleep for 11 hours! That had to feel great.
Summer is back here too. I’m loving/not loving it…does that make sense?
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes we are so finicky about the weather aren’t we? Crazy humid here again. I have no idea why/how I slept so long I was so surprised when I woke up and checked the clock. Even my son was up!
Akaleistar says
A run should always be followed by cupcakes 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Definitely!!
HoHo Runs says
I love that Friends tank you are wearing! What a great idea to complete a marathon on your bike. I’ll have to remember that. The heat here is insane right now. No breeze either. It has been quite the challenge. Thanks for linking.
Deborah Brooks says
The crazy things we do for fun!!
Kimberly Hatting says
Gosh, I had a lot of favorites this week…9.11 (walking) miles on 9/11, my first run (after almost three months), and today’s 8-mile bike ride was pretty legit, too. Life is good! Great job on all of your workouts!!!
Deborah Brooks says
Life is good! Have a fantastic week
Lesley says
11 hours? I haven’t slept that long in a long time. I went to bed early on Tuesday because I wasn’t feeling that great, but it wasn’t 11 hours of sleep. Thankfully I rebounded for the weekend, and I got my 4 miles. I really felt like I could do more miles, which is always a good feeling.
Deborah Brooks says
I have no idea what happened to me! My husband was away and I enjoyed the bed all to myself 🙂
Sara says
Great job this week! I was really sad when the summer weather hit again but you put that in to perspective with the weather that others have been dealing with. How fun was your girls night! I love getting dressed up and going out.
Deborah Brooks says
Getting dressed up and going out with my friends was so much fun!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Great job getting yoga in twice this week! Those battle ropes look like a serious workout!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope I can get in some yoga this week too!
Christine says
Oh I need some yoga in my life! It’s been several weeks since I’ve been able to get to a yoga class and I’m feeling it! Maybe this week will be the week I get back to it. It looks like you had a good week overall, though! Lots of good workouts and variety. I love weeks like that.
Deborah Brooks says
I do like variety! Yes I am hoping to get back to yoga tomorrow again
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Love that tank top you are wearing with your girlfriends. Wow! 11 of sleep. That just sounds lovely!
Deborah Brooks says
It was crazy but oh so good!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I slept 11 hours the night after I got home from the Shenandoah Half. That’s almost double what I get many nights. My thought is that if I slept that long, I must have needed it.
Have a great week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I guess I did too!
Marcia says
Hooray for 11 hours of sleep! You must have needed it bad! Great week of workouts. I feel the same way about the return of the heat.
Deborah Brooks says
We are definitely in a roller coaster of seasons around here
Shathiso says
That top “My friends are fitter than yours” is AMAZING!! Love it! My birthday is in October and you have given me an idea – birthday run followed by coffee and cakes! What a fantastic idea. Well done on a great week of training!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes We love the birthday runs! have a great week
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
It looks like you had a wonderful week! The restorative yoga workshop sounds awesome! Oh and that “My friends are fitter than yours” tank is love!
Hopefully the weather will cool back down soon…it was such a cruel tease!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes pretty good week!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Sleeping for 11 hours is sometimes needed! I slept like 10.5 last night…it was nice after all those early mornings for marathon training. Mondays are one of my favorites because I’m off so I get to sleep in and the runs I do aren’t until the evening so no early morning wake up calls for me! Hope you have a good week!
Deborah Brooks says
I guess I needed the extra sleep great way to start off the week! Have a good one too
Coco says
Ooh, tell me more about restorative yoga?
Deborah Brooks says
It was really interesting and very different from our usual. I will have to tell you about it in person. We need a date for sure
Teresa says
Look how cute you are in that ‘girls night out’ pic! You had some great runs and workout this week lady and I’m loving that shirt that says “my friends are fitter than yours’! That’s awesome!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes it’s a fun one!
Agness of Fit Travelling says
Excellent post, Deb! I would definitely love to try hot yoga. What are your impressions from it?
Deborah Brooks says
I really enjoy it! I believe the warm heat helps me to achieve a better stretch. Hope you have the chance to try it sometime
[email protected] says
Ha OMG I do love your “My friends are fitter than yours” tank! That is just too cute! That Restorative yoga workshop looks very interesting, I’d do it! Thanks Deborah for joining us!
Deborah Brooks says
It was an interesting class more to come on that!
vicki says
Yay for yoga 2x! I have to admit, I’m so over summer 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
right there with you!
Cla says
You look so adorable in your Girls Night Out pic. Looks like you had a great week.
Deborah Brooks says
