Thankful & Grateful Runfessions

On this busy post-Thanksgiving Friday, I will keep it short. I did not want to miss my chance to join the monthly Runfessions for this thankful and grateful November post. Thanks to Marcia for hosting.

Runfessions

Thankful and Grateful Runfessions

I Runfess…

I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to host Thanksgiving this year. Not only did we have both of our kids home, my parents, sister, and her family but we also hosted some of my closest friends. I do love a houseful of family and friends and was so thankful we could get together in person this year. Hoping for a drama free dinner. Stay tuned to find out if that happened.

I Runfess…

This is not news but, it seems a perfect time to acknowledge how thankful I am for running, running friends, and the running community near and far. Having the ability to run safely these past 18 months has been a lifesaver. My running friends became my “pandemic pod” which allowed us to get even closer. I am so very grateful to have them in my life.

I am also so very thankful for my running friends who are not local. Having our online chats going provides us all with an option for the constant support, encouragement, and just a place to vent. I truly value each and every one of you. Running gifts us with a way to connect and support each other that we would not have had access to. My heart is full.

I Runfess…

I am beta testing a new feature for the Peloton bike. It is set up like a video game with speed and cadence challenges to gain points. I am not so sure I would use something like this. I will wait to do a full review after I use it a few more times. But, it is fun to try something new.

Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

How lucky you are to have all your family together. Our gathering was small but still thankful we could be together because everyone is healthy.

I am so thankful to have friends to run with and virtual ones to support me.

Oh, I’ve heard about the game feature! I will be interested to learn more about it. I could see it motivating to try to reach a specific score, etc.

Looks like you had a fun crown for Thanksgiving!

That’s a huge gathering! We had nine total at our table (and three dogs underfoot, LOL). Still, I am grateful to have a full house 😉 Thanks so much for your very active role in my support system!! Our running network is tight <3

Interesting about the video game feature on Peloton. I’ll be curious to hear what you think.

Wow! That is a lot of people for Thanksgiving- you deserve a medal for pulling that off. It sounds like it all went well. Hope you had a great day!

No medal but it was kind of like a relay race! Really nice to all be together

Wow! That is quite the crew! My house is pretty small and even fitting in 10 people was never easy. I did come across a photo on FB from Thanksgiving (here) 3 years ago. Very mixed emotions over that, so much has happened since then.

I’ll bet you had a fantastic time!

It is hard to look back on previous gatherings and see those that are not here with us anymore. I was really happy to have everyone together this year

One of the best things to come out of covid was the varying group chats. So nice to have a place for ‘I’m not ready to share this publicly, but…” and to get to know each other better. Plus the various virtual runs
I think I might go crazy collecting challenge points and lose focus on form. There was a different company treadmill one a few years ago and I enjoyed it to pass runs that were just bleh, but it didn’t work for me long term

Yes, I agree about the side groups love ours
