Glad to be back with the Wendy & Hoho for the Weekly Wrap this week. I feel like I am finally catching up after last weekend’s Ragnar Napa Valley. There is a real period of let down and maybe even sadness after an epic adventure such as this. Because the race was cancelled last year due to fires, we had been planning this one for almost 2 years.
Ragnover it’s real
Sunday- wine tasting
This actually required lots of energy! The perfect way to end our epic adventures.
Monday- travel home
Tuesday- rest day and massage
Slept in and tried to get over my “Ragnover”.
Wednesday- 90 minutes of strength training and kick boxing + 2 mile coffee date walk
Back at my normal Wednesday Workout. Felt good to sweat it out again.
Thursday- 3.5 mile run
Time to get back out there and we could not have asked for a more beautiful fall morning. Bonus points when your tights match the foliage. 🙂
Friday-Vinyasa yoga
Squeezed in a vinyasa yoga class before heading to the train station. Meeting hubs in NYC for the weekend.
My feet are happy to have Oofos to relax in this week for sure.
Saturday- 6.5 mile run
First time running in Central Park. I had no idea it was so hilly! Check that off the bucket list. I met my hubs in NYC for the weekend. Why is all the food so good?!
That’s a Wrap! I think I need to find another Ragnar to sign up for and get over this “Ragnover” stat. Who else feels a little sad after a big race or event?
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow…NYC while still on Ragnover ? LOL Looks like you managed quite well 😉 I did some looking, and there’s a Ragnar in Minnesota (Aug. 12-13, I think). That has all kinds of exciting ideas spinning around in my head….;-)
Deborah Brooks says
we do need to plan a Ragnar! That is usually college drop off week so not sure about mid August. I am in for doing one with everyone though. I need to look around
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I always get the urge to sign up for another race after a big one is over! Glad you recovered well this week and had fun in NYC.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I finally feel back to normal even though it was a busy week
Wendy says
I feel sad after a lot of events! I think it’s because it’s so fun and then you come back to real life, which isn’t always so fun. I guess it’s a sign that we need to have more fun, right?
Deborah Brooks says
well yes I am on board with that!
Coco says
LOL on “Ragnover” – I agree, it’s real! I hope a weekend in the Big Apple helped you get over it. You know I love running in Central Park.
Deborah Brooks says
It was great to get away and next week I head to Philly. Time is flying by!
Jessie says
Ragnover- love it! I’ve only done one trail Ragnar- I would love to do a road one someday.
What a fun week of running for you! Central Park is a lot of fun and you missed the insanity of last week by visiting this week 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I am kind of afraid to do a trail Ragnar I think I would fall right on my face!
Marcia says
Sounds like you’re recovering well from Ragnar! CP is so gorgeous this time of year! Look at that pretty trail. I could use a walking coffee date right now!
Deborah Brooks says
We love to do walking coffee dates! Wish you lived close enough to join us
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
The post race blues always hit me hard. I’ve only done one Ragnar, but the Ragnover hit me hard physically, I remember it took my body a while to recover from it.
Deborah Brooks says
It does take a few days to recover physically as well. A lot happens in those 2 days
HoHo Runs says
I so want to do a Ragnar one day. And yes, I’ve have huge withdrawals after coming home! I’ve been lucky enough to run in Central Park; once with my sister. It’s one of my fondest memories. It was this time of year too and the trees were so pretty. There had been some type of fair/festival there and leftover pumpkins were sprinkled around. Ha – your tights do match the leaves. You legs almost disappear! LOL. Thanks for linking!
Deborah Brooks says
I would love to get all of the ladies in our group to do a Ragnar together next year!
Lesley says
I”ve been OK after some races, and sad after others. I really got the blues after the BolderBoulder last year. When something’s so much fun, the next day I get a feeling of “now what?” Sign up for another race! I’d love to do a Ragnar, if my knee could hold up.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes there is so much build up leading up to the race and then it’s over!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I definitely have post race sadness after a big race like a Ragnar, especially if it’s been on the book for a while or took a lot of planning.
I hope you and your hubby had a great time in NYC!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it was really nice to get away and do some early bday celebrating
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I don’t usually get the blues after a big goal race, because usually I have my eye on the next one . . .
Yes, CP can be very hilly. Depends on where you run, though. I’ve only run there a few times.
Sounds like a great week to me!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a pretty good week thanks!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Oh the Ragnover is real, though I didn’t know there was a name for it! I’m glad you had a great time!
Central Park is awesome, I think I’ve run there only twice but YES to all the hills! I bet it was so pretty running this time of year, I’ve only been in the winter and late spring!
Deborah Brooks says
It would beautiful with all the leaves and the temps were fabulous
Janell McKinney says
I hate the let down after an epic adventure. That usually when I get a bit crazy signing up for other races. Sounds like your are recovering smart and enjoying your time!
Deborah Brooks says
well yes that does happen!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
I feel like whenever we end a really fun race weekend we get the blues. That’s how I feel every time I’m done with a RunDisney race weekend. It’s so much fun and then you have to go back to reality…and work.
I would love to run in central park one day! That is definitely on my list of places to get a run in.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I could see the same thing after a Disney race as well. You put so much time and energy into planning and then it’s over
Hannah says
You had a busy post-race week! But NYC sounds like a good treatment for a “Ragnover”.
Deborah Brooks says
It sure was!
Shathiso says
I’m so glad I read this today! I did my goal race almost two weeks ago. It is all I have been thinking and dreaming about for so long. And I’ve been so glum the last two weeks. Haven’t even managed a run or a pilates class!! I’ve promised myself to start again on Monday but the sadness is real!
Deborah Brooks says
It really but you will snap out of it too!
Cari says
LOL @ why is all the food so good. So true. And love your foliage matching tights
Deborah Brooks says
the food is great! I was also impressed w my foliage matching tights
