Thanks for joining me and Kim for the Weekly Run Down. This week was kind of crazy around DC (what else is new!?) I am powering through the month of July.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday- Rest day

I honored my rest day today by floating around in the pool and reading most of the day. It was fabulous. Don’t worry I did get in my Peloton stretch to keep up my streak.

Monday- Peloton walk/hike + total body strength and core

Starting this rainy Monday off strong with a Peloton walk and a one hour full body class.

Later, I made one of my favorite summer treats. This watermelon, feta, cucumber, jalapeño and lime salad takes about 5 minutes to make. This version was a combination of my recipe and Cari’s that we discussed on one of regular chats.

Tuesday- 3 ish mile run + stretch and core

We had big storms last night which helped to bring the temps down a bit this morning. However, the humidity was 90%! We were glistening and glowing!

Wednesday- Peloton hike + upper & lower body strength + core + stretch

Today was one of those workouts where I wish I had done the legs first. I had to dig deep to get it done after hiking and upper body.

I shared 2 of my favorite warm up moves via IG reels.

Later, i got my hair cut and colored and just as I was about to leave, torrential rain began. I was not going to allow that 2+ hour hair do get ruined so…It’s quite the look don’t you think?

Weekly run down

Thursday-3.5 miles + core + stretch

Today’s run brought to you by the letter H for humidity-90% to be exact. Have I mentioned that I am not a fan of summer running? LOL It was a slog fest.

Later,  my daughter and her boyfriend flew in for the weekend. This mama is very happy.

Friday-Peloton hike + barre + upper body strength

I was going to wait until Monday to start the new 3 days split from my fave instructor Rebecca but I had to try it. Upper body and core was today’s workout-tough class love her style.

Saturday- rest day

I had an easy neighborhood walk and then spent the afternoon hanging at the pool with my kids. This mama is very h appt when my nest is full even if it is just for a weekend. Later, we had my parents over for a big lobster feast. My husband outdid himself!

Weekly round own

I don’t eat lobster but I do eat these!

Weekly run down

I also made these really fun Aperol Spritz ice cubes in champagne cocktails that were a bit hit. Happy to share the recipe if you are interested.

Weekly run down

A fun weekend and I was so happy to have my kids home together.

There’s nothing better than getting the kids to yourself! What a fun weekend. When will the rain stop? We’re getting some today and then all week.

Sounds like you had a great week. Yay for all the kids being home!!!
I remember Rebecca from my Peloton days- she’s good. Nice job getting those runs in despite the weather!

Yay for a fun-filled weekend with family! We’ve had crazy humidity this week (much higher than usual), but our temps aren’t quite as hot as yours are. Love that hair net!! My hair is in a constant “messy” do of some sort to camouflage the humidity droopiness.

My hair in the summer is a real mess for sure!

How nice for you to have all the kids home! The lobster feast looks fantastic! I’m not a fan of Aperol spritz but those cocktails do look tasty.

You have a lot of different activities to keep your fitness work going through the heat. I don’t think I’d love running in really hot and humid weather either.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/28/2024 at 5:03 pm

I am just typing to keep busy in this heat! Always happy to have my kids home 🙂

I thought perhaps I’d be escaping the DC heat and humidity, but it’s followed me all the way to Minnesota.

Yay for having you kids together for the weekend. My nest is going to be full the last weekend of August and this momma can’t wait!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/29/2024 at 8:18 am

ah too bad you did not find better weather! It’s always nice to have a full nest again

90% humidity. You don’t even have to move to be soaking wet LOL
I love that you got a bit of relief due to rain (way to protect your new hair color+ cut ;))

That lobster dinner looks absolutely amazing. So glad you had some precious family time!

Th humidity just kills me! It was so nice to have everyone home 🙂

Got to protect the locks after a cut and color! Great idea.

Looks like a fun summer week/weekend!

Would love to hear more about the Aperol Spritz ice cubes! Yum!
And I hate when you get your hair done and it starts raining! Not fair!

oh they are so good! I mixed 1 cup of Oj, 1 C of light lemonade and 2 c Aperol. Freeze those into ice cubes. Add a few to each glass of champagne with a slice of orange. Delish!
