Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. It’s been another busy week which started out by waking up in Vegas. Here is a peek into my week of fitness and fun in Sin City.
Waking Up In Vegas
We flew into Las Vegas late Sunday night after a whirlwind weekend at my nephew’s bar mitzvah. It was great to have my daughter home for a few days.
Monday- walking around Las Vegas 5+ miles
I was pretty tired this morning from the weekend and travel. However, there is nothing like waking up in Vegas on your birthday. It was a gorgeous day for a walk down the strip. Somehow, I managed to walk over 5 miles. I treated myself to a mini spa day at The Canyon Ranch in the Venetian Hotel. I had a great birthday dinner with my husband. A pretty good birthday. Oh, I did do my Peloton stretch to get my blue dot.
Tuesday- 6 mile run + walking everywhere= 11 miles on my feet + Peloton stretch
Every time we come to Vegas, I love to run down the strip to the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. It never gets old! It is about a 6-mile winding up and down escalator run but fun to do. There is so much walking here that I didn’t realize so that will hopefully offset all of my eating this week!
Wednesday-hotel gym Peloton upper and lower body workout + core + walking around town
I got in a few quick and efficient Peloton strength workouts in the hotel gym. Then, spent some time walking around The Forum shops in Caesar’s Palace. I may be officially shopped out!
Today is my husband’s birthday! We went out to dinner with a couple of friends that are also in town for the conference.
Thursday- 5 mile run tour in downtown Las Vegas + stretch + walking everywhere
I had a blast checking out downtown Las Vegas in my running shoes with Go Running tours. I am going to do a full recap next week.
Friday- sightseeing and touring in Red Rock + Peloton yoga
Just a short drive from the heart of the city, you can enter the Mojave desert and tour around red rocks. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. The photos don’t do it justice.
Peloton has finally added specific yoga for runners’ classes-yeah! My man Denis is leading off the new classes.
Saturday- yoga and stretch Peloton classes
My body is tired! My feet might hate me. On top of all of the running around all week, I have been wearing heels all night every night to events. Heels are just not fun for runners’ feet.
Sunday-Flying home!
After a week of waking up in Vegas, it’s time to go home. I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving. Did I mention we are hosting 18 people?!
San says
Happy birthday! Sounds like a wonderful trip! 🙂
Where is the Las Vegas mural?
I’ve checked out the yoga for runners classes on Peloton and they’re so good!
Deborah Brooks says
The mural there is in downtown las Vegas off of Fremont street
Melissa says
happy birthday to your husband! a running tour of the city sounds like fun – I can’t wait to hear more about it. good luck this week with all your Thanksgiving guests!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks and yes, it was a fun place to run. Busy week ahead
Wendy says
Looks like such a wonderful trip! I didn’t run the strip when I was there because the escalators threw me off, lol. We stayed at the Venetian and did the Canyon Ranch spa. It was wonderful. That run tour sounds great!
Have a safe trip home!
Deborah Brooks says
That is where I am staying too and yes, the spa was great. The escalators are really weird but I know have it all figured out
Marcia Kadens says
Looks like you had fun in Vegas! This brings back all the RnRVegas memories, which used to be that exact weekend. I’m not sure when it is these days. I do remember running the strip on my own early in the morning and there’d still be people staggering out of the casinos. Haha! Isn’t Red Rocks amazing?
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, the RnR was this weekend in the past and now it is in February. REd Rocks is great and I’d love to go back and explore more there
Coco says
It sounds like an amazing week! We haven’t been to Vegas since our 10th anniversary. I bet a lot has change but a lot has stayed the same. It’s great that you have friends there too.
I will have to check out Denis’s new yoga classes.
Happy birthday and Happy Thanksgiving!
Deborah Brooks says
It has changed a lot in the last 10 years. We usually get out here once a year bc my hubs always has work stuff here
Liz Dexter says
What a fab trip! I not so secretly wanted to get married in Vegas and a friend’s daughter just actually DID!
Deborah Brooks says
I always joke around w my husband that we should renew our vows in an Elvis chapel
Michelle says
Looks like a fun trip – great way to celebrate your birthday! Love the idea of a running tour. Safe travels home!

Kimberly Hatting says
What a fabulous week of fun (and fitness)! I’m glad you had a great birthday in Vegas, and your hubby as well. Are you gonna need a week to recover? 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I am so exhausted and can’t wait to get into my bed tonight
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Oh yes, it’s so easy to get in lots of steps walking around Vegas! I would love to wake up in Vegas for my birthday (and I don’t gamble, LOL). Sounds like a great week & happy birthday to you both!
Good luck with all the Thanksgiving prep.
Deborah Brooks says
I was here a whole week and never stepped into the casino once!
Debbie says
It sounds like you and your husband had fabulous birthdays in Las Vegas! I’m looking forward to reading about your run tour while there.
We hiked in Red Rocks a few years ago after landing on Las Vegas and before making the drive to southern Utah.
Deborah Brooks says
Red Rocks was pretty and I need to go back and see more next time
Jenny says
GAH! I don’t know which is more frightening- wearing high heels every night or hosting 18 people for Thanksgiving. Sounds like you really had a great time in Vegas with a little bit of everything- I love the red rock photo.
And… Happy Birthday to you and your husband! What a fun way to celebrate. Hope you have a good flight back- and give those feet a rest.
Deborah Brooks says
I think the heels every night is worse! I will let you know 🙂
Darlene S. Cardillo says
When I was Vegas it was for a race. A running tour is always a great idea. My favorite part of a. Egas trip is Red Rocks.
Good luck your holiday prep.

The Vegas half was one of my firsts many years ago. A fun course

The last time I was in Vegas I remembered doing so much walking without even realizing it!

So much walking! My feet are not so happy right now

Happy belated to your husband! Don’t think I realized he was also a NOvember bday So glad you had a great trip/birthday week. Love that dress/color on you.
I can’t recall if I woke up in Vegas on my bday exactly, but it was a fun bday trip for sure
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it was fun to celebrate both of our birthdays before a long couple of days of work for him. Happy to be home!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
You’ve really been jet setting this year! Sounds like an amazing trip! I’ve never been to Vegas but I’d like to go one day.
I might have to check out those yoga for runners classes- I’m not a huge yoga fan I just like certain poses like Lizard and Pigeon which are great for tight hips.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes we have been traveling a ton this year! A little yoga can go a long way for runners
Jenn says
What an amazing birthday vacation! I’m so happy you got to go and had so much fun, too!
Also, you squeezed in a ton of fitness, which is extra awesome!
Deborah Brooks says
We did squeeze in a ton of activity
Jessie says
I haven’t seen that Vegas mural before! You did Vegas the right way, with runs and good food- and some cool sights! Sounds like a great birthday. Enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it was a fun to way to see the city and explore
