Running while traveling is always on my agenda. The best way to explore a city is always in running shoes. Traveling to Las Vegas and wondering where to get your run in? Logging some miles on the Las Vegas Strip can be a challenge but also fun. If you are up for great people-watching and iconic hotels, this is a perfect running town for you. Here are a few of my quick tips.
Quick Tips For Running On The Las Vegas Strip
Get it done early
The “strip” can be very crowded at all times of the day. Getting out for a run before 9 am is your best bet for fewer people. Las Vegas is a late-night town and most of the visitors tend to sleep in. Most of the morning traffic is convention goers and they tend to be in a hurry of their own.
The waterfalls and volcanos in front of the big resorts don’t start until late afternoon. However, it is pretty hard to run at those times with the throngs of people.
Prepare to go slow
Even if you can avoid crowds of people, you will have to do some dodging and weaving. Pedestrian walkways and bridges are at almost every block. Many times, you will have to up and down an escalator as well. If you know ahead of time that this is more a fun run than a speed workout that sure helps.
Bring hydration
No matter when you visit Las Vegas, remember it is a desert. It is always very dry here and it is important to bring along water on your run.
Bathrooms are everywhere
It is easy to duck into any of the large hotels and find clean, open restrooms. A definite plus of running here.
Suggested routes
I suggest starting at the top of the strip near the Venetian and Palazzo resorts and running all the way down to the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign or starting at the sign and running all the way up to the top resorts. This is approximately a 10K run total. You can run on either side of the street or up one way and back the other.
The most crowded part of the strip is where Caesar’s Palace and the Paris Hotel are. However, the crowds thin out the farther south you run towards the airport and Mandalay Bay Resort.
Running The Las Vegas Strip is a fun way to get in some easy miles on your travels. You can count on great people watching and lots of photo ops.

What a fun place to run in! Because it’s so different from my usual routes, I think I wouldn’t even mind the crowds. It must be very entertaining! 😄

I don’t mind it for a fun run but would not want to do everyday

Most of my trips to Vegas were before I was a runner.
But I did run the half there and running the strip at night was loads of fun.
I doubt I’ll return but thanks for your tips.

I ran the half here years ago and it was really fun! I come here about once a year bc my hubs has a conference here

I went to Vegas a few times when I was in my 20s, but I dont think I ever ran there. I didn’t know where to go and Rob wasn’t a runner yet. I was also intimated by the crowds and escalators. And I remember not even being able to use the treadmill because the gym had a crazy fee!
Deborah Brooks says
ha I guess it can be intimidating!

I did the RnR Half Marathon in 2017, and I had never run in a desert before. I had to refill my water bottle twice, and that was while running at an easy pace in the evening, LOL. That desert air is no joke!

It is so dry! My skin is all wrinkly 🙂

This looks like so much fun! And I like what you say about making this a fun run – that way you don’t stress out about the crowds, or ducking and diving. The photo in front of the Las Vegas sign would be such a highlight for me!

You would love it!!

This sounds so fun! It’s kind of making me want to go back to Vegas! Guess I should start planning 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It is fun to visit every once in a while!

Sounds like running the Strip would be an experience! Like you said, you wouldn’t want to do it for every run, but it would be a fun adventure once or twice. I like the access to plenty of bathrooms!
Deborah Brooks says
Definitely fun for a change but not for every run. Bathrooms are always a great option

I have been to Vegas a few times but never thought to run the strip because I thought it would be too crowded but your run sounds like it was fun!!

If you go early enough it is not too bad!
