If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Grab your mugs and give this fun, female owned Coffee over Cardio a try. I discovered it on IG one day. Love their vibe and their flavors are bold and fun. No sugar added either. If you are looking for some fun flavors check it out and use WillRunForCoffee for 20% off.

I am trying to figure out how to plan our family Thanksgiving. We always host and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of all. We need to make it safe for my parents to attend. I am trying to determine if we can realistically do it outside in November. We have already ordered a large propane heater. I am still trying to figure out if we need a tent of some sort. Any suggestions welcome!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I have let my nutrition slack a bit the last 6 months and that coupled with the pre-menopause hormones has left me feeling a little unhappy with my current state. I have not weighed myself in 5 years (I know crazy!) but many of my clothes are not fitting how I would like them to fit.
Anyway, I just joined Stronger U after learning about it from some Peloton friends. I am working on adding in more protein to my diet. Not so easy for a vegetarian! I am back on my fitness pal and counting macros which is new to me. Stay tuned for progress updates in the upcoming weeks. Any tips are appreciated!
Well that’s about it for me today! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? Grab you mugs and join in!

Not sure what we are going to do about the holidays ether. It’s going to be really tricky! I hope you like your new nutrition program.
Deborah Brooks says
It is going to be tricky. The new nutrition is different for me but I feel like that’s what I need right now

I certainly battled that perimenopausal weight gain! I really changed my diet, which helped me a lot. Gave up eating refined carbs (for the most part) and upped the plant based eating. Things have settled back down again. Good luck with the program. I look forward to hearing what you are doing!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I have realized that I need to switch some things up. It’s different for me to count macros but I am ready to try something new
Chocolaterunsjudy says
My clothes are a little tighter than I’d like, and while I’d like to drop just 5 pounds, I’m not going back to MFP. Good luck Deborah!
And good luck with your Thanksgiving plans! I’d say a tent is a must in case it rains.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I was really feeling like what I was doing was not working anymore so I am ready to try something new
MCM Mama says
I’m really needing to get back to healthier eating. Simple carbs have played way too much of a role in my diet since March.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes that and the drinking wine was not a good combo for me. You really cannot exercise enough to compensate
Laurie says
I have been thinking about Thanksgiving too. Not sure what we are going to do either. Whatever we decide to do, it will be a very small get-together, not like last year at all when both my sister and I and all of our kids and grandkids met in Arizona for the holiday!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes the big family gatherings sure are tough right now. Hopefully we will have much to look forward to for next Thanksgiving
Maureen says
Omg the packaging on those coffee packages are so cute!! Love the designs.
My parents are trying to figure out Thanksgiving too… It’s so tough! Would you be able to have some people in the garage and then others outside? Maybe younger people at a table that’s not covered and adults/grandparents in the garage. Then put the heater in the middle and people can just layer up or you could have some blankets near the door in the house to grab if people want it.
Deborah Brooks says
I am thinking about the garage yes that might work. Challenging times for sure
Marcia says
Outdoor Thanksgiving sounds like a nice option IF the weather will cooperate! I suppose dragging an entire feast outdoors would be challenging and everyone touching serving spoons would be bad as well. I can’t believe we are here! Ugh. I feel you on perimenopausal weight issues. And I’ll just say right now the post-meno ones are even worse. Avoiding gluten was a game changer for me. All the best with the nutrition tweaks!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I sure hope it helps. I am beyond frustrated and you really cannot exercise enough to compensate

My clothes have not been fitting as I would like either so I recently returned to WW. While I don’t usually weigh myself, I have been since returning to WW and I’m down 3 lbs so it’s helping me to move in the right direction. I’ll be interested in hearing more about your new program.
I haven’t figured out Thanksgiving either – it’s usually so cold here by that time of year that I can’t believe outside will be an option. It’s great that you’ve got a heater on order, I’ve heard they are scarce!
Deborah Brooks says
Glad to hear that your WW is helping you. It is really annoying isn’t it?
Erica @ Erica Finds says
It’s been tough to focus on healthy eating in the pandemic! Not eating out helps me but I’ve gotten back into the sweets – need to work on that! I’ll be interested to hear how you like the program.
Deborah Brooks says
I was lax on the sweets and drinking over the summer but determined to change that

The holidays are gonna throw our regular celebrations in a different direction this year. My sis wants to host either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but her place is a little smaller than our house. We’ve done some family dinners (with the kids & my parents) recently, and the hubs & I have served all the food & we spread out in different rooms.
Deborah Brooks says
it is a challenge for sure!
Farrah says
I wish I had suggestions for you about Thanksgiving! I hope you’re able to figure something out. <3 Since I live with my parents again, we're just going to all have dinner together this year.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it is a challenge we are coming up w some ideas!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I would tell you that I’ve spent so much time outside gardening in the afternoons this week that I didn’t have time to write a coffee update.
I’m in the same place with Thanksgiving and we, too, ordered two large deck heaters. I just don’t know what to do…
Deborah Brooks says
It is such a challenge! You know how it is around here in November you never know what the weather will be
Coco says
How long will your kids be home (and able to self-isolate) before Thanksgiving? They seem to be the biggest source of risk. I think we’re going to do our usual — just have my Mom over, and maybe by son and his wife (!) if they don’t go to Vermont, possibly with them getting tested first if they haven’t been isolating.
Deborah Brooks says
Not really sure yet when they are coming home but my son gets tested regularly at school. Challenging times!
Denise @ runheartfit says
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday too with Halloween being a close second. We host Thanksgiving every year but it’s looking like this year it will just be my girls and their boyfriends. My step-kids and grand-kids probably will not be coming. 🙁
Good luck on the Stronger You nutrition.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Denise! Yes Thanksgiving is going to be a lot different this year
