Thanks for joining me and Coco for the November 2020 Ultimate Coffee Date. It’s my birthday month! In fact, it’s also Coco’s birthday month so cheers to both of us today. If we were having coffee together today, I would have lots to catch up on. So let’s get right to it, Grab your mug!
Birthday Month Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
We celebrated my daughter’s birthday in lockdown in March and my son’s in May. Our 25th anniversary also flew by in May. I never expected to be celebrating my own birthday in November under the same circumstances. While the days feel so long sometimes, the weeks and months seem to fly by at warp speed.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Last year I was so sad that I could not run on my birthday because that was the start of my hip injury. In fact, I missed most of the best fall running weather last year. The crew mobilized to organize a fun yoga retreat weekend and I can’t believe that was a year ago!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I love to run my birthday age in miles on my actual birthday. So, next week it will be 5.1 miles for me. We won’t be able to do a big post-run coffee date this year obviously. I am looking forward to a small outdoor dinner with just a few friends to celebrate. The hubs and I plan to order in from one of our favorite places downtown.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Getting a message from Pinterest telling me that they were suspending my account sent me into a temporary panic! Of course, it was last Friday night and I frantically emailed them all weekend. I got an email back on Monday letting me know that it was a mistake and that I was back on the grid. Not great timing with all the Thanksgiving recipe pins and holiday content going out. Whew! Crisis averted.
That’s about it over here for me! Do you run your birthday in miles? Have any other fun birthday traditions?
Kimberly Hatting says
I won’t be ready (well, my foot won’t be LOL) for running those bday miles with you, but I will join you regardless…I can easily bike them, or do a combo of running and walking. As you know, I don’t run my bday miles, but my birthday (3.14 miles). This year, I did it everyday for a week…and then we all know what happened immediately afterwards.
Deborah Brooks says
yikes yes I do remember. Love to have you along virtually on bike for those birthday miles
Wendy says
Who would have thought we’d still be in this situation? We’re all still trying to make the best of it, although last night i had a little meltdown. I just miss going out and seeing people! Besides patients, that is. lol.
Have a good weekend and enjoy your miles!
Deborah Brooks says
I so miss going out and seeing people and just doing normal stuff!
Marcia says
Happy Birthday month! My birthday is in December and I was thinking we’d be out of the Covid woods by the time it rolled around but now, not so much! I can’t believe it’s been a year already since your hip injury. Time has a way of flying by no matter what. Thanks for the linkup!
Deborah Brooks says
It sure does have a way of flying by no matter what. It’s kind of crazy.
Catrina says
I’ll definitely be running the 5.1 miles with you!
I remember seeing that photo of your 50th last year. Who would have thought that one year later, that photo would be impossible to recreate?
Let’s hope things will be back to normal by your NEXT birthday (or even better, by your next anniversary!)
Deborah Brooks says
That is a great plan!
Coco says
Wow, I remember what a great time you had at the yoga retreat. Seems like a lifetime ago. I’m glad Pinterest rectified their mistake, but that would be so frustrating!
Happy birthday to us! Let me know if you have time for an outdoor lunch or coffee this week. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Yes let’s try to set something up!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Yep, we’ve had 2 out of our 4 birthdays and our anniversary in quarantine. My birthday is very close to global running day, and I feel like at least one of those days falls on a planned rest day so I end up with FOMO. Happy 5.1!
Deborah Brooks says
ha global running day seems to always fall on one of my non running days too!
Maureen says
Instead of running my age in miles this year, I ran a timed mile and got my best mile in the little series of time trials I did this summer. I’m glad you have plans for a small outdoor dinner with friends to celebrate your birthday!
Deborah Brooks says
That is also a great idea on how to celebrate your birthday
MCM Mama says
Happy birthday month! We’ve all had birthdays during quarantine now – including one of the big decade birthdays. I miss being able to get together with people to celebrate. Or, you know, just hang out…
Deborah Brooks says
That is what I miss the most of everything!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Happy birthday month to so many of us bloggers! And yes, I plan to ride 63 miles next Saturday in celebration of my birthday!
Deborah Brooks says
That sounds like a fun plan! Happy birthday in advance to you as well
Kim G says
Yay for your birthday month! As someone that also celebrated a lockdown birthday, I can say that’s it’s really not that bad. You get to order in delicious food from your favorite restaurant and you can eat in sweatpants – it’s perfect!
That email form Pinterest would have freaked me out too! Thank goodness it was just an error.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes eating in sweatpants is fun (sometimes 🙂 )
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I can’t believe you’ll have a stay at home birthday month or that I will in December. I’m trying to make some new traditions that will be fun. At least 51 is not as special as 50! I’ll be 49 in December. I’m thinking of running 7 miles x 7 over Friday, Saturday and Sunday to celebrate my 49th. We’ll see.
Happy Birthday week! I hope that you and Coco can celebrate together somehow!
Deborah Brooks says
OH that is a really fun idea! Looking forward to seeing how you do it
Darlene S Cardillo says
ha ha. I’m too old. But I always run my b-day in kilometers!!
I skipped my and all my family and friends’ celebrations. I said postpone but now it looks like we are skipping a year or more.
Hope you have a nice pandemic birthday. Your health is the most important gift.
Deborah Brooks says
health sure is the most important gift of all and something I really have come to appreciate this year
Michelle D. says
Happy Birthday month! It is crazy to think about how many milestones have been celebrated under quarantine this year – like you, I thought we’d be in a better space by now. It sounds like you have a nice celebration planned – enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
I thought we would be too!
Laurie says
Happy birthday month! Yes, who would ever have thought back in the spring that we would still be celebrating milestones under the COVID cloud. Have fun on your birthday run!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s crazy!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Happy birthday month! I know you will have a fun time celebrating, even though things are so different this year!
I’m glad the Pinterest issue got sorted out! I know I have to be careful because I share a lot of posts that apparently have spammy websites, ugh!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I do think twice about sharing things that look spammy!
Liz Dexter says
Happy birthday month!! My friend Barinderjit Singh Cheema (otherwise known as Usingh Bolt) just did a 45 miler for his birthday!!
Deborah Brooks says
what a show off! Ha ha
Jenn says
I run on my birthday, but not necessarily my age in miles. It just depends.
We usually go away for my birthday. it’s also Mother’s Day weekend (or close to it), so it just makes a great celebration.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday, and I am so glad your Pinterest issue was solved!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much! We often go away for our birthday weekend as well but not this year
Farrah says
2019 seriously feels like it’s been a decade ago, hahah. I hope you have an awesome birthday! That sounds like a fun tradition. :]!
Pinterest murdered (suspended) my account earlier this year for no reason but thankfully gave it back after I emailed them!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it was scary to have it taken away for 2 days
