If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

This weekend is my daughter’s college graduation from Indiana University. We are all in Bloomington celebrating with her all weekend. Stay tuned for lots of photos. I just can’t believe how quickly this all just flew by! I am so very proud of her and all that she has accomplished. Watching your baby grow up into an adult is both a strange and wonderful thing. Here is a quick one from the sorority house photo shoot today.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am currently knee deep in packing up both kids’ clothes and gear from their dorms. I am pretty sure that I could use a huge coffee right about now! I also may be a little afraid of what I may find in my son’s dorm room.

I will be making a 10 hour drive back from Indiana with my son on Sunday. I am so not a road trip kind of girl at all. Should be an interesting bonding experience. I have never driven that far or that long. Again, I am pretty sure there will be lots of coffee involved. I guess lots of restroom stops as well ha!

Finally, if you are still looking for some  Cinco de Mayo inspiration, I shared a few of my favorite Mexican inspired meals this week here.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I’ll be heading up to Wisconsin this weekend to pack up some of my son’s stuff. He insists that his girlfriend is going to bring everything home but you and I know better, right? Good luck on the drive and enjoy the time with your son. It’s amazing what they tell you in the car.

Congrats to your daughter! What’s next for her?

    • Deborah Brooks says

Awww all the best with your epic weekend. It’s bittersweet I’m sure. We’ve got high school graduation coming up and are just beginning that college journey. Everyone tells me the college years fly the fastest of all. Happy road tripping!

Enjoy graduation weekend!! That’s such an accomplishment for the family. I hope the weather cooperates so you have sunshine.

As someone who has driven from Chicago to NJ countless times, pack snacks and get a playlist of podcast ready to listen to. Safe travels!

No worries on a short post! I had one almost ready to go on Tuesday but never had the energy to post it. So I’m set for this coming Tuesday. 😊

Good luck on the road trip! We pretty much never drive that much in one day because neither of us likes to drive, so we always split it into a couple of days. Enjoy your time with your son!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/04/2019 at 6:48 am

I am so not a car trip person at all! I have never driven that far. We will take turns but if we get too tired we will just stop somewhere

  16. MCM Mama says

    05/04/2019 at 8:02 am

I can’t believe she’s done already! It’s funny because I think Indiana is on our list of places to visit this summer. We plan to do a lot of road trips to colleges all summer, so I’ll be driving like that more than once LOL.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/04/2019 at 4:01 pm

It’s a gorgeous campus and let me know if you are headed here and I will give you tips. I am so not a road trip person 🙂

Congrats to your daughter! Time passses by so, so quickly! I have to pack up my stuff in NJ and move it back to CA at the end of next month so I’m not really looking forward to that, haha.

I don’t usually drink coffee but I’m probably going to be doing that a lottt more this summer to survive all the driving!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/04/2019 at 4:02 pm

You do have a lot going on this week! So many feelings, too!

We’ve got so many milestones going this week as well. It’s awesome but so hard, too.

I haven’t given any thought to cinco De Mayo, this year. I just need to get through Sunday before I can worry about that. Although guacamole and margaritas sounds incredible…

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/04/2019 at 9:56 pm

It sure is amazing and difficult at the same time. Hope your weekend goes well too
