Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays to celebrate and participate in. Even though my little princess and super hero are grown up, I love to get into the holiday fun. I still enjoy dressing up and using the day (week) to enjoy some treats. I have a fun Halloween workout to keep you moving in between answering your door to trick or treaters.
Happy and Healthy Halloween Workout
If you are anything like me, those cute little mini Halloween candies start calling your name as soon as they hit the shelves. What’s a mother runner to do? I’ve come up with a Halloween workout to help keep you moving while enjoying the fun of the day. Pin it or print it and keep moving.
Here’s how it works~ Whether you are staying at home answering the door or out trick or treating with kids, you can perform this fun workout to “trick” yourself to keep up your activity and enjoy those “treats”. See the costume on the list and perform the corresponding exercise. Simple enough for the whole family to do. At any rate, it will give the neighbors something to talk about!!
A few “Lifesavers” to make it through Halloween
Do something active early in the day
Plan to go to a class or go for a run earlier in the day. Most Halloween activities do not start until the afternoon or evening so an early morning workout gives you are great head start for the day.
Give yourself permission to enjoy the day
Decide in advance how much candy or goodies you would feel comfortable eating. Having a plan can take away some of the stress and make the day more relaxing.
Get rid of it
Left with more candy than you expected? Many shelters and military organizations and even some dentists will take donations of extra candy. Operation Gratitude has collection points all across the country and they will send it off to the troops for them to enjoy.
Keep a healthy Perspective
If all these tips don’t work and you have an overdose of sugar, know that one day does not ruin weeks of healthy habits.

Our running club had a Halloween party last night after our run. One of our members has a barn, which was the perfect setting. I went as a black cat and Hubby went as Mr. Clean! 🙂

Since I work in pediatrics, I normally dress up for work. This year Halloween falls on my day off, so it looks like the Wonder Woman costume will stay in the closet! Fun idea, tho, to do the workout in between trick or treaters! I wonder how many we’ll get this year since it’s supposed to be cold and rainy/snowy.
Deborah Brooks says
My wonder woman costume will come out at some point tomorrow!

I love Operation Gratitude! It’s such a win-win because it gets the excess candy out of the house and provides the troops with yummy treats.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly!

It’s going to be freezing here, literally, tomorrow night. I doubt we’ll see much action, but I’ll be armed and ready. I’ll probably take my leftover candy in to work and share it there.
Deborah Brooks says
hope you have a fun night!
Rachel says
Oooh! This is a fun idea!! I wish we had trick or treaters in our neighborhood because I would totally do this.
Deborah Brooks says
Well you can do it with your kiddos! Have a happy halloween

Oh my gosh, that’s awesome! I love it! And I would totally be on board if not for the Jell-O shots I made…
I am going either as a deviled egg or a copy cat. It’s supposed to be in the 80s, so it will just depend on the weather.
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha enjoy your halloween
Zenaida Arroyo says
Great idea to do tomorrow! Ha, but I would rather eat the candy. My favorite is anything with chocolate.
Deborah Brooks says
You can do both!

So fun!!! This sounds like a great workout and tips for keeping on track for Halloween. I agree that it’s best to just enjoy the day and then get back on healthy eating tomorrow. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly just like Thanksgiving!

Or just don’t hand out candy at all. 😊 That’s how we handle it! It’s rainy so I imagine there won’t be a lot of trick or treaters, but i’m at moms til tomorrow anyway.
Deborah Brooks says
It’s raining here as well but making the best of it

This is such a fun idea for a workout! I am going to have to give this a try tonight!
Deborah Brooks says
hope you and the kids have a fun night
Debbie Woodruff says
Such a fun idea for a workout. I’m pretty good about avoiding the candy since most of it isn’t vegan and I really try to get rid of it. No dressing up for me, just handing out the sweet stuff tonight!
Deborah Brooks says
Hope you had a fun night!
