Well winter has not yet begun but I am Dreaming of Cherry Blossoms today…10 whole miles of them at the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 mile race. A few months ago, I applied to be one of the 4 race ambassadors for this iconic DC race and was ecstatic to find out that I was chosen this year. I could not be more excited! I will be documenting my training along with these 3 other ambassadors starting in January. (Dale , Laetitia-Laure, and Sarah Beth)
Dreaming of Cherry Blossoms…
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 mile race will be held on April 8, 2018 and starts right in front of the iconic Washington Monument in heart of Washington, DC. Way back in 2008, The Cherry Blossom 10 miler was my first long distance race ever. That day, I woke up to a torrential down pour of epic proportions. I knew nothing back then about running in the rain much less running 10 miles in the rain. My shoes were full of water, my feet blistered and my hair sopping wet. All I could think as I crossed that finish line was, “now I am a real runner”. I’ve learned a few things the last ten years and this April I will run my 7th Cherry Blossom 10 miler.
With over 16,000 runners, the Cherry Blossom has become a rite of spring for runners from all over the country. With views of the famous Cherry Blossom trees, Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, Watergate and the The Memorial Bridge it’s a quintessential must do DC race for any runner.
Beginning at the end of January, I will be documenting my training and following the official 10 week training plan. Who wants to come run The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 miler with me? The lottery opens on Friday, December 1 and is open for 10 days. Sign up here to receive info on registering. Special thanks to my friend, Coco, who encouraged me to apply.
Tell me- Have you run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler? Who is entering the lottery?

My first Cherry Blossom was 2016 where it was snowing and I DNS because I was so afraid of the weather. So this year was my first and last of running this race. It is a beautiful run but it seems that the weather never cooperates.
Deborah Brooks says
the weather can be a little tricky. 2016 was a very cold year but most years we are in the 50’s for that time of year
Coco says
Yeah! I’m so excited you were selected! I know you’re going to inspire so many others training for this race. 🙂

It depends what distance you are looking for? What time of year?

Well, I’m sure MCM is awesome, so how about a 10 miler or half when it is not freezing cold?

Deborah Brooks says
It is a great first race! It’s going to be a blast to train virtually together this is your year!
