thanks for joining me and Kim for the Weekly Run Down. This week cozy season rolled in and I’m all in for it. Fall is my favorite season and it’s finally here. Here’s a peek into my week.

Weekly Run Down
Sunday-Rest Day
I was recovering from a full weekend of events. Well, if recovering means hosting brunch for 10 and then watching the Eagles game. It was a much needed rest day from formal exercise.
Monday-Weighted power walk
The Peloton app was kind of out due to the nationwide AWS outage. So, I pivoted literally and got out for a long weighted vet walk. Hoping it will be back on later…It was not back on so no strength class today.

Tuesday-full body strength + core + walk
thankfully Peloton was backup and running. I hit up a full body strength class and was excited to try out my new squat wedges. They are designed to help you perfect your form and boy did I feel those today. More on those later but if you want to check them out here they are.

Wednesday-core + full body post + afternoon walk
Today’s full body strength class was spicy! I really liked this variation of dead bugs using heavy weights. Later, I heated to the dentist where I needed to have a tooth pulled. I was super stressed about it but it as not at all as bad as I thought. I may have used it as an excuse to have a big bowl of pasta for dinner.
Thursday-power walk
I was told to keep it low impact today and no weights for a day after my dental surgery. Later, I met a friend for coffee and walked around some more in the cozy, sunny temps.

Friday-full body strength + power walk
I was really excited about getting back to heavy lifting today. It was another gorgeous day and I took advantage of another power walk. This time, I took out my heavier new Wild Gym pack. It’s more of a traditional ruck pack style that distributes the weight more to my hips (more on this soon).

We took advantage of the beautiful cool evening to kick off the weekend.

Saturday-power walk
I went on another swift weighted power walk on a gorgeous cool day before heading over to my parents’ house for a visit. It was nice to help my dad out running a few errands and taking him for early voting.

that weighted backpack /rucksack is interesting! how do you like it? i didn’t realize Peloton was out with the outage this week – thank goodness it came back on the next day.
It took some adjustment to the heavier pack but it’s really quite comfortable
You are always active even when you are resting..
Weighted vest seems to be the thing…. I was thinking of getting one. Which do you recommend?
I think you would find it a nice addition to your walks and rest day activity. I can send you a rec on a good starting one
I like the idea of the ruck pack vs the weighted vest. Let us know what you think of it!
I had to get a tooth pulled a few years ago. I also had a bone graft to prep for an implant, but I never went through with it. It was a back molar, so I didn’t think I needed it. I do miss the tooth, though! Are you getting an implant?
I never got my wisdom teeth pulled and only have 2. One of them started bothering me and had a cavity in it! My dentist was able to pull it out in 10 m w just novacaine. No implant needed thankfully !
Those squat wedges look very cool – like putting your heels on 5-pound plates, but more comfortable.
Although I’m not a fan of months-long voting, we voted weeks ago when it first opened in Virginia, afraid that we might need to rush out of town around election day because of my mom’s health. This year’s Virginia elections are too important to miss, especially for anyone concerned about the wellbeing of our daughters and granddaughters.
I lucked out with Peloton on Monday. It was out when I took Scooby out, but up again when I got back. I didn’t realize it had gone out again until I saw ALL the posts later!
I voted early since I’m going to be an election officer again. I think it was Boston that just opened early voting this weekend.
I couldn’t blame Peloton for the outage but I was annoyed that I lost my blue circle that day. I will have to be satisfied with my weekly streak of 5 years
yes the squat wedges are interesting and I like them so far. Agreed the election is important and will be interesting to see what happens.
Ooh, those squat wedges- I see people using them at the gym (or, just putting their heels up on plates) but don’t really understand what they do. I’ll have to look it up.
Your weather sounds beautiful! I’m very glad fall has officially come up north, because now we can start hoping some of the cooler weather will make its way down to us.
I’m interested to hear more about the ruck pack!
I have a post coming this week about the wedges-basically changing the angle helps w form and also allows you to recruit glutes more effectively. Stay tuned for more on the ruck pack too!
I’ll be interested to hear more about the ruck vest. I just saw something about weighted vests being a factor in spine compression (ugh, as if we need another aging issue to plague us, LOL). Nonetheless, I finally remembered to hoist mine on for my walk earlier this morning.
I’ve been walking w weight for about 1.5 years and feel stronger than ever!
I didn’t realize Peloton was affected by that AWS outage. My kids were having a tough day in college with nothing working! Did Peloton come back by the evening? What about all of those streaks?
Yes it eventually did come back-I was annoyed to lose my daily streak but I have a 5+ year weekly streak so I will be ok 🙂
I love the squat wedge shoes! Such a fun color
My PT has me use something similar to the wedges and they feel good, but OW as so many good for you things are
They are a great way to up the intensity
It feels like everything was out this week. Super inconvenient.
Looks like a wonderful week and busy weekend!
It was busy! Carrying on
Oh dang, you were affected by the AWS outage… I must have slipped by here on the West Coast, because I had problems on the app in the morning but then was able to work out on the bike.
How do you like your weighted vest? Do you feel like it makes a difference?
yes i love my weighted vests! I feel a lot stronger using them
