Another month has flown by and it’s time to confess all things running. Thanks to Marcia for hosting. I’ve got some doozies this week so let’s get right to those confessions.
I confess…
I might be turning into a morning runner. Seriously, I have started getting up an hour earlier the past 2 weeks to beat the heat. It is not as bad as I thought it would be and I feel like I have way more time to do other things. Not to worry, I have no plans of getting up at crazy hours to run. Right now getting up at 6:30 which is early enough.
I mean, is it really that big of a deal that I fall asleep every night while the hubs and I are watching TV? I also confess that I do not see this happening in the wintertime when dark and cold.
I Confess…
I am in a serious organization mode around here. I am starting with my workout and running tops. They are kind of a disaster. I trying a new organizational method to see if I can get a better handle on them. I also ordered some new shelving storage for my running shoes. I have also, once again, amassed quite a large collection. If you have old athletic shoes to give away, Zappos has a program. You just package them up, print out a label here, and mail them off for free. Zappos will distribute them. Super easy!
I Confess…
I was really reluctant and nervous about trying out Instagram reels but now, I kind of like them. I had fun trying them out for the Dick’s Sporting Goods National Runners’ Month campaign. They are still a work in progress but I am learning more every time.
That’s about all I’ve got for you today! “See” you at the Ultimate Coffee Date next week with me and Coco.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Yay for morning running! I don’t think I’ve slept until 6:30 in about 3 years lol. This is definitely a good time of year to adjust to getting up earlier since its so light out even at 5am
Deborah Brooks says
Oh I am not getting that crazy! I am getting up at 6:30 out by 8. You will get more sleep when Grayson is older maybe 10 years from now
Wendy says
Good to know about that shoe recycling program! I have a large pile in my back room I need to do something about.
Your reels are one of the few I actually enjoy. I’m not a big fan of reels. Personally, I like to just scroll through IG and look at photos. It’s jarring to have music come on and let’s face it, some people’s reels are really awkward! Of course, I can say that because I’ve never done one, lol!!!!
Deborah Brooks says
I have sent off a bunch of boxes to Zappos it’s really easy. Thanks on the reels. It’s a work in progress for sure and yes some of them are a little annoyingly loud!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I am still absolutely frightened to try Instagram Reels! I am probably overthinking it but it just stresses me out, lol! I like the ones you’ve done so far!
Deborah Brooks says
I was scared too and it takes some practice for sure! I am going to keep at it
Kimberly Hatting says
The Dick’s campaign definitely opened a lot of windows for me, and got me to test out my video skills. Now, I just gotta get a grip on the Reels LOL Congrats on those early morning runs! I’m glad my body allows me to do mine at those (even earlier) hours, because Of my work schedule. But I wake up early (usually well before 5:30) even on the weekends …
Deborah Brooks says
Yes the reels forced me to step out of my comfort zone a little so that is always good. I am not ready to get up at your crazy hours yet but getting up and out a bit earlier will be my key to summer running
Darlene S Cardillo says
Thanks for the info on Zappos. I have quite a collection to give away.
Not tired Reels yet. Not sure I have the time for a video.
I get up early but just can’t motivate myself f=to get out the door. My neighborhood is boring, I think I need more interesting scenery and to drive some where that means getting up even earlier.
Deborah Brooks says
I am not ready to go out driving to a new spot at that hour but our bike trail is close by. I don’t do well with the heat so I just have to do it
Marcia says
Great job dipping your toes in the early bird water! In summer it truly is the best time to run and then you have the whole day for everything else. I am organizing constantly and it is never enough. Lately I’ve been selling some of my gear that’s gone unused for some time. See you for coffee next week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, I am selling some stuff on Poshmark as well. It is amazing how much I have that I don’t want. And yet, I feel like I have nothing to wear lol
Coco says
Watch out — you’ll get hooked on those early morning endorphins! I runfess I probably slept until 6:30 this past winter — I didn’t need to get up before it was light out.
Thanks for the scoop on that Zappos program.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh no I will not be getting up when it’s dark out that’s just insane
Kim G says
I’ve always loved morning runs. It’s so nice to get the run out of the way early and you also feel so accomplished after the run too.
That’s great about the Zappos program. Right now I drop off my old sneakers at DSW – they work with an organization called Soles4Souls hat distributes the sneakers to those in need.
As I mentioned to you before, I love your IG reels! I find them to be super fun and creative 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
The Zappos program is also soles4souls but you can send it off yourself super easy
Denise says
I’m awake at 5 or 5:30 everyday but I lounge in bed with coffee and scroll or read until 7:30 or 8, then run.
Thanks for the Zappos info, I have a few pairs of shoes I could get rid of.
I think you have been do a great job on your reels.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh wow 5 am is really early! I don’t see that happening 🙂
Laurie says
Thanks for the link to Zappo’s. I have some running shoes I need to donate. Our local running store used to collect them but no more. You are looking great, Deborah – so fit! It IS time for early morning running again. We have started getting out there early to beat the heat too. Not mid-morning like we were used to all winter.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it is early morning running weather already. Wintertime is a whole other thing! It is so nice that you have your hubs to run with
Jenny says
I really think one of the keys to summer running is getting our early. Even 8:00 is late for the Florida heat! I’m a big fan of early morning runs, but I will admit I don’t know how people do it up north in the winter- getting out there in the cold and dark would be hard.
Deborah Brooks says
I will not be doing it in the wintertime! I guess you are used to the heat
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Right now I am so not in organization mode! I go in waves. Will love to hear about your new process, as I’m sure we will. 😉
Until this cold wave came through, I was definitely getting out earlier, not really so much getting up earlier. I’m usually up anywere between 4:30 – 5:30. Sometimes I set an alarm so I don’t sleep too late and am not too rushed trying to get out the door.
And yes, when it’s cooler like now, I have a tendency to procrastinate!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh wow you really are an early bird! I am trying to organize but it never seems to last long
Renée says
I hear you on the morning running – I would love to be a morning runner and actually surprised myself the last few months with getting up very early to either catch the sunrise or at least be out just as it was up (walking of course). But I can tell you it is TOUGH getting out at 0 Dark’thirty. Good on you for getting out at 6:30!
I feel a workout clothes organisation again in my near future. It’s again out of control.
Cool that Zappos has a program for used shoes! We deliver ours to Runnersworld but what they do with them I am not 100% sure…
you’ve had some real cute reels Deborah. They aren’t my thing but I runfess I made two for my cat Leo 😀
Deborah Brooks says
Getting up early is not my thing but I have to do it this summer. It just gets too hot!
San says
Hooray for morning runs. It’s the best time of the year to enjoy the early morning hours outside.
Tell us (and with us, I mean, me!) about your Reels experience. I don’t even know if I want to venture out there.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, the morning runs have been better than I thought. The reels take some practice but I am having fun with them. There are a few youtube videos on how to’s I found. Just go for it!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Morning runs are truly the best! I get much more done but then end up taking a nap in the middle of the day. 🙂 I’ve hard of the recycling program by Zappos but so far have not sent anything.
Cari says
ooh thanks for the link on the Zappos program. My local run store stopped their recycling and I hate to throw them out when they have many of miles left in them for general use.
I’m like you with the morning runs. Summer/heat avoidance makes it easier to get up and go but I don’t have the oomph when there’s no pressing reason in winter when the sun makes the runs more palatable. I think being a morning runner will help me keep up the routine though when life goes back to “normal”
Deborah Brooks says
The zappos thing is so easy I have done it a number of times. Yes being a morning runner is taking hold!
fairytales and fitness says
Yay for organizing!
I think I’m going to be doing more early morning running too this summer! The dogs get me up so early anyway so since I don’t have to go to work, I might as well start my day off with a run before it gets too hot! -M
Deborah Brooks says
Sounds like a great plan to me!
Black Knight says
Even if I don’t like in this period, because of the heat, I must be an early morning runner. I also get up at 06.30 a.m.
By next month my route will be house – beach (11 km).
Deborah Brooks says
well that sounds lovely!
