Wrapping up Valentine’s Week

This week felt so long! That is the opposite of how I usually feel. I have been struggling with my runs the last few weeks but kept pushing through. That’s what we runners do right? Here’s how my Valentine’s Week played out. Joining Wendy and Hoho for the Weekly Wrap.

Valentine’s Week

Monday-30 min Peloton bike + 60 min strength training

So happy to be back on my routine after traveling all of last week. Never miss a Monday!

Tuesday- 4mile run

Woke up to a freezing rain morning ugh. It was one of those days where I really just needed to run despite the weather. I have been a running slump of sorts the last few weeks and this was a tough run. I had to walk a few times to catch my breath. The rest of my crew opted for indoor workouts but I just had to get out there. Not the greatest but got it done.

Valentine's week

Wednesday-90 min strength training and kickboxing

Workout Wednesday never disappoints! Today we tried these next level bridges. Had to bring my A game to my balancing skills. I do enjoy finding new ways to up the intensity and keep from getting bored.

Valentine's week

Thursday-Valentine’s day run and coffee date 4 miles

The best Valentine’s day runs start and finish at bakeries right?! I was pretty stressed this week with some family stuff and miles with my run squad is always the best therapy. Still took a few walk breaks but got it done. Hubs and I had a nice Valentine’s dinner together complete with vegetarian and non vegetarian lasagna. Both of our favorites.

Valentine's week

Friday- 2 mile walk and hot yoga 60 min

We were gifted with a 60 degree day so I had to get out there and take a walk before yoga. Participating in the RunBet has forced me to get in that extra outdoor walk session. If you missed my review on RunBet you can read it here. I am enjoying RunBet so much that I have set up a game starting March 4th. I am hoping a bunch of my friends (in person and online friends) will join me so we can encourage each other. If you are interested in joining us register here on the website and then download the app. Starts March 4th for 4 weeks. Bet for yourself to run/walk 4x a week at 18 mm or less. Perfect for walkers and runners. It will be fun hope you will join me!

Saturday- 6 mile run

One of those mornings where I just wanted to roll over and go back to sleep. So glad I showed up because I had a much better run. Still needed a few walk breaks but making progress. Running slumps are the worst aren’t they?

Sorry to hear about your running slump 🙁 but it seems like you are definitely snapping out of it!

Thanks for the heads up about the RunBet challenge – I might join it!

Yes I had a better run yesterday but I am not where I want to be w running. Ugh story of our lives huh?! Yes I would love for you to join the runbet

I hope your slump shows signs of dissipating soon! They totally suck ;-( BTW, those tights in the last pic are AdOrAbLe 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 6:38 pm

The cute tights help lift my mood!

  3. Wendy says

    02/17/2019 at 4:47 pm

I am in a running slump myself. I have my eye on a half in Florida in March, so I better find some mojo if I want to run it! Or maybe I won’t….

Those next level bridges look crazy hard! I’m sure I’d injure myself just trying to get into position. Nice work!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 6:39 pm

I hope it’s just a temporary slump for both of us

  4. Darlene says

    02/17/2019 at 5:24 pm

Yes starting and ending at a bakery – perfect! Looks like you had a very active week.

Not much running on my schedule…maybe injured.. the jury is out still.

I saw Billy Joel in concert in NYC and that was the highlight.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 6:39 pm

Oh no hope you are not injured! Billy Joel concerts are always amazing

Looks like you got a great week of workouts in even on a busy one.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 6:45 pm

I did just a little frustrating at the moment

  6. Coco says

Family drama and a running slump at the same time is NOT a good combination. I hope both end soon. Isn’t it crazy that in the same week we had a “wintery mix” and the 60s?! And the icky weather they predicted for this weekend was a no-show, but now it looks likes Tues/Wed might be a mess?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 7:23 pm

I usually love the cooler winter temps but I am kind of over the wet stuff. Yes family drama and running slumps in the same week are never good

The running struggle seems to be the norm with lots of people. I just keep saying “It’ll get better soon!” I love the valentine’s run with friends. Runs squads make all the difference!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/17/2019 at 8:48 pm

My run squad has saved the day so many times lately!

  8. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

Looks like a solid week! Sorry about the slump – hope the week ahead is a good one for you!

      Thanks me too!

  9. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    02/17/2019 at 9:23 pm

I hope whatever was causing you stress worked itself out and you have a better upcoming week! Sadly, I was not able to get out and enjoy the warmer days. It sounds like we might have some crazy weather mid-week!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 8:47 am

      Thanks I hope so too!

My highlight was allthefood. 🙂 Well, and just finally getting to Savannah!

Sorry running hasn’t been great lately. Winter is so hard! I’m glad you stayed upright in that freezing rain — that can be the worse.

On to bigger & better things!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 1:27 pm

Savannah is definitely on my list! Yes this too shall pass thanks

I LOVE those tights! Where did you get them from?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 1:30 pm

Those are the Inkburn Sakura but I think they are sold out already. I love them!

  12. Renée says

    02/18/2019 at 11:24 am

Running slumps ARE awful. I’m sorry you are going through that right now. At least you still TRY and I think that’s commendable! There are many people who just say “forget it” and don’t even try. You had a lot of other activity this week too. So really, you did great!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 2:49 pm

Nope not giving in that easily! Keep showing up right?!

  13. Jessie says

    02/18/2019 at 12:47 pm

Spring will be here soon and hopefully it will get us all out of any slumps 🙂 Just need to keep powering through a bit more winter!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 2:52 pm

      Definitely let’s do it!

  14. Amy @ She Runs By Faith says

    02/18/2019 at 3:40 pm

I bet once the weather shapes up and spring appears, you’ll be saying goodbye to this slump for the rest of the year! We just need to make it through… that’s what I keep telling myself. These days, sneaking outside for a run is a definite high point in itself. Especially the days when it’s warm enough to send the older kids outside! Spring is JUST around the corner – hang in there!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 4:38 pm

Yes I know you are right this too shall pass

  15. Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says

    02/18/2019 at 3:55 pm

Having a run squad is the best! I’m glad they were there for you. I would end every run at a bakery if I could. Love my iced coffee (and donut!) post run!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/18/2019 at 4:38 pm

That would probably be counterproductive for me!

  16. Chaitali says

    02/19/2019 at 2:26 pm

Glad your Saturday run went better! I’m impressed you got out there with that freezing rain earlier in the week.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/19/2019 at 7:28 pm

Thanks some days you just need to get the run done

  17. Cari says

    02/19/2019 at 3:11 pm

Although it was a tough run, looks like you were chanelling your inner child with that puddle jump <3

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/19/2019 at 7:28 pm

      Yes I guess I was!

  18. Marcia says

    02/20/2019 at 7:12 am

It’s so hard to push through when you’re not feeling the mojo + the weather isn’t great so props to you. I’m in a Tokyo haze so I’m kind of numb to how the time is passing right now.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/20/2019 at 9:19 am

It has been a little hard to push through but I know this too will pass

  19. Jennifer @ Fit Nana says

    02/21/2019 at 11:22 am

Man, I hate a running slump. :/ But, major props to you for getting out and running in the freezing rain! Those are conditions I can just never force myself to get out in. And, you actually looked pretty happy! I’m certain the end of your slump is right around the corner.

Highlight from last week? Hmmm. I should be able to list at least one, right? I got 2 running days in. That’s gotta count for something! lol

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/21/2019 at 2:59 pm

It sure does count for something!! Keep at it hope this week goes better for you
