Hope everyone had a happy, fun and relaxing (??) Thanksgiving! I was so thankful to have both of my kids home with us. As they have gotten older, the family times are so much more meaningful to me. I just want to hold onto them for as long as I can. Although we had a busy week around here, I managed to keep up with my fitness. The eating is another story but hey it’s only  Thanksgiving once a year! Joining in with my friends for the Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving Week Happenings.

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving Week Happenings

Monday-30 min elliptical + 60 m strength training

Tuesday- 3.5 mile run

My shins were still a little sore and decided to do a short one today. I am probably being over cautious but I really do not want to get injured right now. So short it is.

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving

Wednesday-30 min elliptical + 90 min kickboxing/strength training

Always one of my hardest and sweatiest workouts of the week. Glad I got it in before I started cooking and cleaning up. We hosted Thanksgiving dinner so lots to do! I cannot be left alone with this Chex snack mix that I made “for other people to snack on”.

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving

Thursday- 10K Turkey Trot + cooking and cleaning up

It’s been my tradition for years to run this 10K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. I decided to take it really slow as not to exacerbate the shins anymore. They felt ok afterwards so fingers crossed. It was really chilly for this time of year.

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving

I have the hardest time getting my whole family to get into a photo together. We got these matching aprons so they pretty much had to oblige me! Mission accomplished- so happy!

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving

I was so exhausted after all the clean up, I slept like a baby.

Friday- clean up and power shopping online

Had zero energy to do anything today besides clean up and put everything away from dinner. I did get most of my shopping done for family.

Saturday- Cycle Class 50 m

Finally had the chance to get to the new indoor cycle studio that opened last week. Great way to start off my day.

Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving

Sunday- on the plan Hot Yoga with Coco

We have not seen each other for a few weeks and I love to catch up with my Ultimate Coffee Date host. (next coffee date coming up this Saturday)

Got leftovers? Me too! Hope you will come back tomorrow to see how I combined all my veggies into a delicious Leftovers Holiday Hash. That’s my Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving Week Happenings!

What was your most favorite part of Thanksgiving this  year?

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! Was the 10k you did the one in Bethesda? I ran that in 2011 but it’s a little far to travel to regularly!

      11/26/2017 at 3:34 pm

yes that’s the one! It is fun and super hilly too.

Sounds like you had a great week despite all the busy-ness. My favorite part was having everyone back home for an entire week. My second favorite part was all the leftovers 😉

      11/26/2017 at 3:36 pm

It’s so nice when all the kids are home for the holidays!

Today’s my day to be exhausted! I am getting some things done, but for the most part, I’m resting on the couch. Don’t want to wake the sleeping RA giant!

I’m glad to hear your shins are behaving. Any idea why that’s happening? Sometimes it’s my shoes. Don’t laugh, but when it happens to me during a run, I stop and walk on my heels to stretch out the muscles.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 3:42 pm

Not laughing! I will try anything. I probably over reacted a bit due to prior injuries. I think that I over did for a few weeks and my body just needed a rest. I did coincidentally just receive a new pair of shoes so fingers crossed. Resting on the couch sounds great but alas I am still running around like a crazy person today

So happy that your children were able to come home for Thanksgiving. It’s always so much fun when you can celebrate the holidays with the whole family!

I love the snack mix that you made – so creative and it looks yummy!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 3:45 pm

Thanks! The holidays are definitely much more special to me now that my kids are older. Hope you had a great holiday with your friends and family too

I tried to take a few candids, but I was also a busy host and didn’t take a lot of photos in general (plus most of my family really hates it because my Dad was forever taken a gazillion photos we had to sit for — and he’s very controlling, too).

I wasn’t actually as tired this year afterwards as I was last year. Which doesn’t mean I wasn’t tired, the last thing I wanted to do at 8:30 was be washing & drying my mom’s silver.

I struggled with getting in my exercise AND eating! Nothing terrible, just too much nibbling. Still! Somebody make it stop!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:44 pm

I put all of my silver and china into the dish washer this year. Just could not fathom doing it by hand!

That Chex Mix looks like my kind of stuff – so many goodies inside. And your Turkey Trot gloves are fabulous.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:54 pm

I cannot stop eating that darn chex mix!?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:55 pm

      It was really fun! Thanks

  8. Megan @ Meg Go Run says

    11/26/2017 at 5:59 pm

You put those little pumpkins in your chex! Cute idea! I saw a news article and it said online shopping on Black Friday was WAY up this year. It makes sense. I don’t want to go ANYWHERE on Black Friday! 🙂 I’m glad both your kids were able to do Thanksgiving with you. Family time is so special, and that was my favorite part of the holiday.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:57 pm

Definitely my favorite Thanksgiving so far!

  9. Coco says

    11/26/2017 at 6:29 pm

It was so great to see you today. That time flew by, so we obviously have to do it more frequently! I made soup with our leftovers tonight. I can’t wait to try it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:58 pm

Yes we do! Soup sounds good to me right now

I love your family photo in the matching aprons and especially the hubs pants! 😉 I hope your shin pain is a thing of the past. My favorite part of Thanksgiving was having everyone home. Since my MIL hosted and cooked most of the meal, I sadly had no leftovers to enjoy. I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with the grandkids today. That was another favorite. Thanks for linking!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 7:59 pm

That sounds like a perfect way to celebrate. I think the shins are better just needed a little more rest

I love your Thanksgiving chex mix and your trotting gloves! This year was a really quiet Thanksgiving for me and hubs. On Friday we went to Phipps Conservatory to see the winter garden show. Maybe not a Thanksgiving thing but one of my favorite holiday things to do for sure!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/26/2017 at 9:29 pm

It’s all about your favorite things this time of year!

  15. Lesley says

    11/27/2017 at 10:15 am

My uncle hosted, but we did take leftovers back since my uncle and aunt were traveling on Saturday. There wasn’t a lot, but we had enough for lunch the next day, and since we made dessert, we enjoyed eating it through Saturday when it was gone.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/27/2017 at 12:02 pm

The dessert I am happy to get rid of. I cannot be trusted!

I was exhausted after Thanksgiving as well and we didn’t even host, so I can imagine how you felt! Hmmm, now I am wondering if I can make that chex mix with some christmasy candy mixed in????? -M

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/27/2017 at 8:14 pm

Ooh yes definitely! It’s crazy addictive though 🙂 I had to throw away the rest today
