Can’t believe it’s already time for another Weekly Wrap with Tricia, HoHo & Darlene. I’ve really been enjoying participating in the link ups the past few months and find they are a great way to keep track of my own workouts and also see what my sweaty friends have been up to. Last Sunday was my 3rd Sprint Tri of the season so this week has been mainly a recovery week for me.
Sunday
Hagerstown Sprint Tri-I have not written my race recap yet as I am still mulling over all the details. Parts of the race went really well (my swim and bike) parts of the race were awful (my run). I did beat my course time from last year however, I’ve walked away feeling disappointed. More on this to come soon. I did have fun and loved hanging with my friend, Holly.
Monday
3.5 mile walk
Joined in with our evening walk group as I thought it would be a nice way to stretch out my legs and chit chat with my friends. This was no “walk in the park”! These ladies were walking fast! I had to really move to keep up with their pace.
Tuesday
3.5 mile run
Feeling pretty good today. Nice to be back out with my crew despite the ridiculous heat and humidity. Threw together this amazing Buddha Bowl for dinner.
Wednesday
90 min kickboxing, running drills
Going back to basics and doing some running form drills with my trainer followed by kickboxing and weights. Spent the evening seeing Mama Mia with my mom and sisters at an outdoor theater venue. Despite the fact that is was 95 degrees and I had sweat dripping down by back all night, it was really fun and I love the Abba music. Photo fail again-completely forgot to take one.
Thursday
3 mile run
Barely got in my 3 mile run today. This humidity is crazy! We had our first ever Unofficial Beer Run Mile to send off one of long time members who is moving away. So much fun! You can find all the details on how to host one here.
Friday
40 min elliptical + stretching
My son is away at camp for 7 weeks but they have this weekend to come home for 2 days before heading back for the last 3 weeks. I skipped my swim class to be here waiting for him. Spent the afternoon at the pool and catching up with him and then did we all cooked a nice family dinner with all of his favorites. Oh did I mention he brought home all of his gross, smelly, teenage boy laundry.
Saturday
1 hour spin class
Had the chance to check out a pre-opening class at a new boutique Spin Studio that is opening in a few weeks. I love to vary my workouts and try new places. Fun group of new sweaty friends.
That’s my week in a nutshell! Looking forward to getting back to my regular schedule this week and plan to be upping my run mileage a bit. Next weekend I will be guest hosting the weekly wrap so hope to see you there.

Oh Gosh…Mama Mia is amazing! The hubby took me to see the Broadway production several years ago (on tour in Des Moines)…the music is absolutely incredible!!! The movies was even pretty good (if you can get past the cheesy acting LOL). I’m anxious to hear some details on your tri from a week ago 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I love all of the Abba music too. I know I need to write about the tri I am not motivated to do so but stay tuned
Kim says
For a recovery week you were every busy! That spinning class looked like it was a lot of fun!
I’m sorry that you felt disappointed after your Trip race last weekend 🙂 I think it’s awesome that you beat your time from last year, especially in the crazy heat and humidity this summer! Don’t be too hard on yourself.
Deborah Brooks says
thanks Kim it is hard for me not to be hard on myself sometimes
Coco says
Oooh, a new spin studio! I am having an existential crisis over buying a new package at Revolve or switching to CycleBar. Can’t wait for your recap. Sorry you are a bit disappointed in your run, but since that hasn’t been your focus this cycle — for good reason — maybe you should take your better time and be proud of it! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Appreciate that! I know it’s silly to dwell on it. I am excited about the Cycle Bar opening in FC for the winter this year.I hope I like it
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
That’s great that you got to spend time with your son (eww to the laundry but that’s what mom’s are for, right ;).
I’m sorry you were disappointed with your tri. We’ll commiserate with you (and encourage you) when you share it with us!
Deborah Brooks says
I know you will thanks friend 🙂
HoHo Runs says
I love the delicious colors in your Buddha bowl! You should be proud of beating your time from last year in the Tri. Those suckers are tough. LOL. I can’t imagine my teens laundry after being away for a few weeks. My youngest just returned from camp for only one week and that was plenty.
Deborah Brooks says
I know teen boys do have a smell like no other! Thanks re the race it’s just frustrating
Meranda@fairytalesandfitness says
How fun to have an evening walk group.
What all is in your Buddha bowl? Does your whole family eat vegetarian?
Deborah Brooks says
Ha no one else in my house is a vegetarian! That bowl has a base of farro and then is topped with roasted purple cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts, tomatoes a little feta cheese and a drizzle of harissa lemon dressing. It’s fabulous!
Teresa says
I’m envious of your ‘cycling legs’!! I so want some of those cycling calves 🙂
That Buddha Bowl looks delicious…is this a meatless monday recipe????
Mamma Mia is one of my all-time favorites! We saw it on Broadway in NYC twice!! An outdoor venue would be so much fun for singing along!
Congratulations on your sprint tri ….you know the saying, any finish line crossed is a victory! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Oh you are so sweet! Yes the cycling legs will come keep on pedaling. 🙂 I did not post this Buddha bowl in a recipe but it’s really easy. The base is farro topped with roasted purple cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, brussels sprouts, feta and a lemon tahini dressing. Let me know if you have questions.
Sara says
What a great week for you! Your buddah bowl looks amazing!
How did you like Mama Mia?
Deborah Brooks says
Mama Mia was great! Thanks I am loving eating them this summer
Lesley says
The theater group where my parents live is doing Mamma Mia this summer, and we saw it when I was up there in June. I will admit too, I watched the movie the next weekend because it’s fun. Movies like that are just fun to watch.
Deborah Brooks says
the music is just the best!
Mary Beth Jackson says
Nice week! You always seem to find new classes popping up! #jealous I hope you had a great weekend with the kids and the laundry! 🙂 boys…….
Deborah Brooks says
Yes they have been opening lots of new boutique classes here and I love trying them all out
Jennifer @ Dashing in Style says
Wow! Three sprint tris in one season! You are on a roll! I had to laugh at the evening walk, where you thought you’d just be chatting with friends and they were race walking! Ha! Nice mix of workouts this week and YUM that Buddha bowl looks amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
those walkers are no joke seriously!
Renée says
pretty amazing rest week!
I wish I had confidence to just try new things, groups and classes. One day…
Deborah Brooks says
I know some people can be intimidated by trying new classes. But once you do, it’s really fun
Darlene says
Congrats on your sprint tri. I am impressed with anyone who can conquer 3 sports at once.
That beer mile sounds like a fun time.
Thanks for linking up.
Deborah Brooks says
