It seems as though I am not the only one having a crazy month of May! This week had me running around like a crazy person again. Between getting ready for our graduation party, dealing with car issues and getting ready for out of town guests, I am just trying to stay afloat. May Day! If only I could clone myself.
Weekly Wrap May Day!
Sunday- Girls on the run 5K race + 10 mile bike ride
Always a fabulous time watching all the girls complete the race. A huge thanks to my coaching staff of 10 amazing women who donated their time and efforts to help coach our team.
Monday- 30 minutes elliptical + 60 min strength training + 10 mile bike ride
Normally I don’t bike 2 days in a row but the weather looked iffy so wanted to get one more in there.
Tuesday- 4 mile run with my crew
All the recent rain has left the rivers just rushing with water. We thought it would be fun to venture out onto the rocks for mid run photo.
Wednesday- 90 min strength training and kickboxing
I kept telling my trainer I needed a harder workout so…these wall sits got a little tougher holding a medicine ball behind my back while doing press ups. Be careful what you ask for right?!
Thursday 4 mile run
My legs were totally shot by today and had to walk a bit. We also had the return of the heat and humidity yep not a great combo. Our community service project for Girls on The Run was doing a collection drive for “BRAWS”. BRAWS is a fantastic (new to me) organization that collects and distributes feminine hygiene products and undergarments for women and teens in shelters and low income schools. We were over whelmed with the generosity of our team. I kind of fell in love with the cause and hope to do some work with them.
Oh and then I found out that I had 2 nails in my tire. So I had to bring in my car, leave it there, get a new tire, go back and pick it up during rush hours. Yep May Day!
Friday- rest day
woke up exhausted and just needed to do stuff around the house.
Saturday- sprint tri race
Decided to jump into this race last minute. Boy it was super toasty out. More to come later this week on the tri race.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
It seems like May has been so busy for everyone! I am hoping June is a little calmer. Congrats on your last minute sprint tri!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it was fun to do yesterday but wow was it hot
Kim G says
Love the GOTR has a community service project each season. Such a great way to teach them about the importance of volunteering and helping others.
I can’t believe you did a triathlon on a whim – you’re amazing!
Hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend.
Deborah Brooks says
The service project this year was the best one we have ever done. I loved all of the positive response we got. Yep jumped into a tri. I am glad I did it but it was hot hot hot

Wow you have so much going on! I hope you enjoy the wedding today! I am spending the day mulching, planting and making everyones properties look amazing for there BBQ’s tomorrow. Meanwhile my lawn is a disaster. lol
Deborah Brooks says
WE had a huge storm the other day and all of the mulch the landscapers put in came flooding into our pool! Quite the mess over here.Landscaping is hard work!
Coco says
Wow, you have been super busy! Congrats to a great GOTR season! Can’t wait to hear more about your last-minute tri. See you next week for our coffee date too!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes the coffee date next week! The tri was fun but wow it was so hot!
HoHo Runs says
I’ve never heard of BRAWS. It sounds like a very worthy cause! Look at you jumping into a Sprint Tri. Very Impressive. I had a car that picked up nails more than any other I’ve ever driven. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it was so frustrating! Good luck as you complete your MAYDAY festivities. We’re finished will all of the graduation events now. Whew. Thanks for linking!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s been a crazy week for sure! Just need to get through the next 2 and then we are off on vacation to Italy 🙂
Lesley says
I’m hoping things calm down now too. I know I was busy this spring, and had a race to train for, but running is my way to deal with the stress. Now that I’ve had my race, I have more time right now to just relax.
Deborah Brooks says
running and working out are for sure my stress relievers! Don’t know how I would make it through without them
Wendy says
I feel you on Mayday and Mayhem….it’s been a crazy month! We had graduation today and dinner. Now my feet are up and ahhhh…..let the madness end.
Deborah Brooks says
congratulations! It’s all so exhausting and emotional isn’t it?!

So impressed that you dropped into a sprint tri just for fun! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says

Kimberly Hatting says
Ha ha, I have to laugh at your MAYDAY distress call LOL I also was calling out MAYDAY for Rnfessions because I was in major “sink or swim” mode (mainly sinking). I’m glad all of my obligations are over & done…hoping all goes well for you this week 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! It’s crazy how all of the sudden everything is all at once! It’s all good stuff just a lot. Glad you made it through
Hannah says
I’m amazed that you just decided to jump into a tri at the end of that busy week!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha seriously what was I thinking!?

Can’t wait to hear about that tri!
Deborah Brooks says
