Wow this week just flew by for me! I mentioned in my Why I Love Mondays post the other day, that I set mini goals each week that I’d like to accomplish. They are usually fitness or nutrition based but really could be anything that is realistic and achievable for that week. This past week, I set 2 mini goals: make it to yoga and make it back to my master swim class. Spoiler alert-crushed them both. Here’s a snapshot of how my week went. Joining in with the Weekly Wrap dynamic duo HoHo and Wendy. I will also be linking up to the Cherry Blossom training crew.
Weekly Wrap Crushing Mini Goals
Sunday- Hot Yoga
Fun class and meet up with Coco. Our instructor offered the intention of tuning out momentum, both forward and negative, and using your strength to achieve your goals at hand. That really resonated with me.
Monday-30 min elliptical and 60 min strength training
Tuesday-4 mile run + 60 min Ashtanga Yoga
I tried out a new (to me) type of yoga, Ashtanga, and wow was it killer (in a good way). I love the run followed by a yoga class. I am hoping to make this my new Tuesday routine for a while.
Wednesday- 15 min elliptical + 90 min kickboxing and strength training
Always my hardest and most favorite workout of the week. My trainer has switched up my strength training a bit and I am loving it. Sweat fest!
Thursday- 5 mile run + stretch/renew yoga
Hit up my 3rd yoga class for the week! I am loving this combination. Today’s class was more of a stretch and meditation. Don’t tell anyone but I may have fallen asleep for hot second. 🙂
Friday- Master Swim class 60 min ~ 1 mile of swimmng
I woke up in a bad mood and did not want to go swim at all. This was one of the mini goals I had for myself this week and I was not going to let myself down. Swim class was challenging as always. Feeling so glad that I went.
Friday night was our MRTT happy hour to celebrate our 5th birthday. Could not be more lucky to have so many amazing women in my life.
Saturday- 6.5 mile run
Following right along with week 2 of Cherry Blossom training. My group of 8 headed out for our 6.5 mile run. 40 degree temps were amazing!
Spent the afternoon cooking for Soup Club swap Sunday. Head back tomorrow for my Spiced Creamy Cauliflower and Kale Soup recipe. It’s a keeper!
I am pretty proud of my effort this week. I had a solid training week of running, yoga, strength training and yes swimming. All mini goals were smashed!
Setting any mini goals yourself this week?

Congrats on another great week and crushing your mini goals! I usually set monthly goals but I like the concept of setting weekly goals. I might start doing this too!
Deborah Brooks says
The monthly goals are good too but I like to have small goals each week. It can be something small like go to bed 15 min earlier
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Great job getting in both your mini goals! Ive been trying to get outside at least once a week and I’ve also been trying to do a short yoga session each week. This week should be easier to get outside since it’s supposed to be much warmer out!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! Yes I feel so much better this week with so much yoga
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
Way to crush both goals you set for yourself! That’s fantastic.
Can’t wait to see the soup recipe. I love a good creamy soup.
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I had a pretty good week! Hope you did too. You will love the soup
Coco says
Look at you doing all that yoga! I didn’t know you were doing your soup club again – such a great idea.
Deborah Brooks says
I know I was quite the yoga girl this week and I have to say, it felt great. I hope I can get in at least 2 this week
meranda@fairytalesandfitness says
I’m proud of you too! You had a solid week. It goes to show that even though we don’t feel like doing something (like your swim), when we do it we feel so much better than we did before!
I hope you have another great week and crush your new goals!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! So much can be mental can’t it
Sara says
Great job with your workouts this week! I give you credit for the swim classes! I don’t think I would survive that. I like the idea of mini goals. Right now, my goals are to follow my training plan, get my core work in, and maintain my weight.
Deborah Brooks says
Those are all great goals too!
Kimberly Hatting says
You did have a great week! I know how that feels to wake up and NOT feel like doing a workout…but doing it anyways. Never fails, I always feel great afterwards 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it sure does! I just need to get swimming back into my routine again
Wendy Rivard says
I did Ashtanga for couple years. It is a great practice and very strenuous. I found it to be a great way to really perfect the poses. I wanted more creativity after a while, and that’s why I enjoy vinyasa yoga. Let me know how you like it!
Have a great week!
Deborah Brooks says
I really like both types of yoga and hope I can keep alternating. The Ashtanga was surprisingly challenging so of course I will have go back
Lesley says
I almost fall asleep at the end of my yoga routines. Since I do them for stress release, and stretching, the whole point is to relax. I head to bed soon after so I can fall asleep.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I guess that works if you do yoga at night! Since mine was a noon class perhaps not so good lol
Heather Mundwiler says
Way to crush those goals! I have definitely fallen asleep during yoga before – I got really into the relaxation portion!
Deborah Brooks says
Oh yes that Savasana is heaven!
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
Congrats on crushing your goals! I think I’ll join you this week and set a goal of yoga and two job applications. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
Yay sounds like a great goal for the week. Good luck!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
You had a great week! I like your idea of setting mini weekly goals. I usually try to set monthly goals, but since that got derailed with being sick I may try your mini goal approach for the rest of the month.
Deborah Brooks says
It really works for me!
Hannah says
Yoga was also one of my mini goals last week. I only managed 15 minutes (I do yoga videos at home), but it’s more than zero!
Deborah Brooks says
It sure counts to me!
Catherine says
I love that you’ve got so much variety in your week. Way to crush your mini-goals!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I do like to mix it up
HoHo Runs says
You had a great week with a lot of variety! It’s a great way to keep injury at bay and keep things interesting. Happy 5th Anniversary to your MRTT chapter. Thanks for linking!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks so much don’t know what I would do without them!
Tara @ Run and Live Happy\ says
Great job with your workouts this week! I love setting weekly goals. They seem more attainable and not overwhelming. Plus, I love starting everything fresh on Monday of each week and planning out my goals for the week.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! Have a great week
Shathiso says
Well done for a fabulous training week and I am glad that you didn’t let that bad mood hold you back from your swim! That last photo of you ladies is absolutely beautiful. I’m a big setter of mini-goals – I have 6 areas in my life, so for example, fitness, work, etc., and then each week I make sure I set mini-goals for each of them. Love it because it doesn’t seem as overwhelming as those GRAND goals.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes exactly! Hope you have a great rest of your week
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I love that picture of you and your friends on the playground equipment! It’s so fun and colorful!
Deborah Brooks says
It was a fun one!
Clarinda says
Congrats on crushing your mini goals last week! All that run+yoga sounds amazing.
Deborah Brooks says
I am liking the combination for sure. Trying to keep it up this week
