It’s time for another Weekly Wrap 4th of July week. I’m linking up with Tricia, Hoho and this week’s guest host Christine.
I’ve really been enjoying participating in the Weekly Wrap and connecting with lots of new like minded fitness friends. This past week began at the beach and ended at the pool. Let’s see how it went down.
Sunday-4 mile run
My daughter and I took a few days and headed to the Jersey shore for a little beach time. I got up early (for me) and set out for a beach run. I didn’t last long on the sand before my calves were screaming at me to move to more stable ground.
Our beach trip wouldn’t be complete without a little ice cream and of course beach selfies.
Monday-Back to my plan with 30 m of elliptical and 60 min of strength training
Tuesday-5 mile 4th of July run with my MRTT group. We normally stay in our Virginia suburbs for our runs but how can you not run into DC on the 4th of July? This was a favorite and will certainly become a tradition.
Wednesday- 1000 m swim + spin class
Thinking about adding in some swim workouts yourself? Check out a few of my swim workouts for runners.
Thursday-90 min kickboxing and strength training
Made the mistake of telling my trainer I wanted some hard abs today. Be careful what you wish for! He had me doing sets of these in between boxing moves. Hurts so good.
Friday– 10 mile bike ride + 2000 m swim
If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done! Headed out for a rainy ride which ended up in the blazing sun. Finished off with my swim class for a perfect combo.
Saturday-Everyone needs a rest day! Spent the afternoon lounging by the pool reading. It was fabulously relaxing.
That’s my Weekly Wrap! Next Sunday is my next sprint Triathlon so I will be cutting back a bit this week. Hope to see you tomorrow for Meatless Monday where I will be sharing my Summer Peach Gazpacho recipe.
Your pool day looks so relaxing! Looks like a fun trip to the beach as well. I don’t think Id want to start a bike ride in the rain but glad the sun ended up coming out for you!
I did not want to start in the rain either but it just happened that way! I was glad I got it in though
You had a great week or workouts! I love that you decided to run into DC for the 4th of July. I’m going to a spinning class this morning but after that I’m planning on relaxing the rest of the day. I was inspired by your pool side photo!
I’ll definitely remember your PSA warning, lol!
Ha glad I could help out! I hope you have a relaxing rest of your day as well. BTW I watched the From fat to finish line it was great. Could not get through the Barkley marathons one. Those people are nutty!
I just don’t know how you triathletes get it all done! One of our runner groups is a tri. I’m tired just reading what you do.
Highlight of the week was probably my 4th of July race, but there was plenty of good in this week. Have a great week, Deborah & keep up the great work!
Thanks! It is a lot to train for 3 sports for sure. I love all of them but I admit I am getting a little tired of training.
I can only run on hard sand, which is hard to find a flat stretch of on our beaches. Love your ice cream photo – yum! That peach gazpacho sounds intriguing …
The ice cream was as good as I remember! The peach gazpacho is super yum and very easy. You really should come over and cook with me one day this summer
You are so right. Conditions are rarely perfect. Nothing beats relaxing by the pool in summertime. I love the color of your handle wraps, by the way. Good luck in your next Tri. I’ve been lazy so far in that regard so I’ll just have to live through you.
ha I hardly think anyone would consider you lazy! Thanks I am excited/nervous
Looks like a great week! I’m jealous of your beach and pool time. You know I love me some water time!
Yes I know you do! I am supposed to go kayaking with a friend soon I am really excited about it
Yes, so true about not waiting for perfect conditions (in pretty much any aspect of life). It looks like you had a great week. I love the Jersey shore. That was our go-to for the beach when we lived in PA. Thanks for linking. 🙂
It was fun to go back to the shore for a few days. I ate way too much!
You and your daughter seem to have so much fun together. I can’t do a beach without ice cream – they go together! 🙂 What a great week of workouts!
They sure do! My daughter is home from college for the summer so I am trying to get in a lot of one on one time
Nice week of workouts! A few years ago, hubs and I signed up for a 1 mile beach race. It was literally the hardest race I’ve ever done lol. Glad it was only one mile.
Your peach gazpacho sounds tasty! I’ll be back tomorrow to check it out.
Running on the beach is so pretty but yes super hard. My calves did not like it at all.
Being from the East coast, I absolutely love the Jersey shores. I now some people don’t think they are as “fancy” as some ones further south but I love the “old timey” feel of them and the boardwalks!
How far do you live from DC? Can you run there from your house or does your group have to drive in to run there?
It is a 5 mile run to DC from where we live so obviously we should do it more often but it’s crowded and we are lazy 🙂
I might need to find a beach for running. I’m working on strengthening my calves.
It will certainly do it! I’m more of a calf raises person do you do those?
I like the way you spend a week! Beach, ice cream, cycling, spinning, abs and poolside reading ….that’s my kind of week!!
Ah thanks it was a good one
Gosh, you are busy and so active. I love the variety you have in your workouts! SO jealous of that beach time #justsaying
The beach was a nice little diversion for sure.
Sounds like a perfect week, starting and finishing by the water! We’ve been spending a lot of time at the pool lately after the youngest is up from nap. And we head to the beach next week for a few days!
That sounds very relaxing have fun
That dipped ice cream looks delicious!
you always post the best group pictures !!
We do try to keep it fun around here! Thanks
Relaxing and reading by the pool looks amazing! Is that at a gym or your house? Jealous.
I have a small home gym it’s great thanks
I love that you were doing hard abs moves in between boxing, with your gloves still on! I’ve never tried boxing but think it would be fun.
It’s so much fun give it a try
Is there a parade in DC on Independence Day? I think that’s when my friend Miles said they used to do this, but perhaps it was another holiday when there was a parade. Anyway, he and a bunch of his running friends would run from MD down the Rock Creek Trail and into DC. They’d get on the parade route before the parade actually started but after the streets were blocked off and people were starting to line up to watch. He and his friends would run down the parade route waving and everyone would cheer for them, thinking they were the start of the parade! Security is probably a lot tighter now and they wouldn’t be able to do that anymore… You and your friends should try that! HaHa!
what a great story! I am going to have to remember that for next year
What a great week – starting by the beach and finishing by the pool!
It’s been quite hot here and I keep wishing for a nice open air pool near me. I’ve just found out about some swimming ponds but I’m not sure I’m brave enough for open water swimming!
Open water swimming is not really my thing either!
