Weekly Run Down The Week With All The Seasons

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. This week, mother nature could not make up her mind. It was the week with all the seasons around here. Makes it a challenge for dressing for runs and life. Here’s a peek into my week.

weekly run down

Weekly Run Down

Monday- full body strength + core+ Peloton cycle + foam rolling + afternoon walk

A little bit of everything today. I got in a good solid mix of strength and cardio. It felt fall like this afternoon when I headed out for my walk. There was a little breeze and it was perfect sweatshirt weather.

week with all the seasons

Tuesday- 6 mile run + stretch

It was almost springlike today on my run. We felt the humidity in the air and were treated to a misty rain at the end which cooled us off a bit. We were surprised to see so many roses still blooming in the neighborhood rose garden.

all the seasons

Wednesday- full body strength + core + Peloton cycle

A little bit of everything on the schedule today. Feels good to get back to more lower body strength again. I have become a believer in both warm-ups and post strength stretching post workouts.

all the seasons

Thursday- Run 4 miles

Don’t let the smile fool ya. I am fasting today because I have my first colonoscopy tomorrow. I figured I would go for a run anyway. Yes, not my smartest idea. I have learned the past 1.5 years just how important my nutrition is to my run performance. I do not run on empty very well. It’s only one day so no big deal but a great reminder to me. The fact that it felt like summer again did not help.

Friday- planned rest day + Colonoscopy

It was a rough night but I survived. The actual procedure was nothing since they put you right out. I was up the whole night in the bathroom and felt super weak by the time I got to the office. I got a little dehydrated but I felt totally fine right afterward. I did a Peloton stretch just to keep up my streak and a short stroll outside. It is in the mid 80″s today! All the seasons indeed.

Saturday- 3 mile walk and stretch

Hubs and I actually went to a real live movie again after almost 2 years to see the James Bond movie. My stomach is still not happy about what I put it through the last few days.

Sunday- on the plan 8 mile run

Fall is back today and I can’t wait to run with temps in 50’s. It was a busy week with all the seasons. Thanks for linking up!

I hope you get good results from your colonoscopy! I had one in my 40s. The prep was the worst! I know I should get one but..ugh. I did do the cologuard and I’ll do it again. Good luck on your run this morning! Heading out for another hike as we speak.

the prep was brutal my stomach still feels off ugh. Hope you had a great hike

I ran the morning before my first colonoscopy and it wasn’t the best idea. Since then I run the morning of prep day and that’s fine since I usually run before eating anyway. Glad yours went well and hopefully it’s behind you for the next 5-10 years.

Momma N just couldn’t make up her mind this past week, but we were lucky that we didn’t get any rain until yesterday because we are having our roof replaced and they’ve been working on it all week.

Thanks for the linkup and have a great week!

yeah the prep was pretty brutal. Glad I don’t have to think about it for 5 years. It is gorgeous out today hope you are out enjoying it

Congrats on an active week. I always eat before a run but sometimes you can’t.

Our weather was summer like until today. Not complaining. It’s a long winter.

I always eat before running as well. My body has gotten used to a routine and it does not like it when it gets off schedule

I hope you get good results from the colonoscopy.
I have never done it but I think it’s time for a check.
    Enjoy your 8 mile run.

I’ve done that prep for a different surgery and it is yuck. Good for you for getting your colonoscopy done. I’ve done the Cologard and that’s my story. We suddenly got a cold snap here and the heat is on! Noooo!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/17/2021 at 12:34 pm

yeah I won’t be doing this particular prep again it was too much for me. Enjoy your colder temps they are refreshing

Good for you for getting the colonoscopy. My husband has had two. I opted for cologurad for now.

Let’s hope fall weather is here to stay!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/17/2021 at 12:38 pm

my doc wanted me to do one for a baseline. I am done with that for now it was rough. Yes, today is gorgeous and the week ahead looks fantastic enjoy it

Glad you survived the colonoscopy! I do not do well with fasted runs, either — even short ones.

It’s both nice to have the warmer weather and the cooler weather we have now — it’s great running weather!

You’ll be back to normal before you know it.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/17/2021 at 12:40 pm

It was a little more intense than I had bargained for but I think my stomach is finally starting to feel better. Fall is back today and I am all for it!

Yes, the colonoscopy procedure itself is nothing! It’s the prep that everyone hates. Glad you got it done. i just have to weigh in and say the prep wasn’t THAT bad for me- I ran the day before and fasted that day, but (strangely) I figured it would be a good day to paint the bedroom- you know, to take my mind off of being hungry. Then drank the first part of the prep at night, ugh, and then the next morning adopted a kitten, ha ha. It was the only time the foster mom could bring her over. So I was literally in the middle of the colonoscopy prep (having drank the second portion that morning) and I’m signing adoption papers and playing with a new kitten… maybe all that took my mind off everything. My sister has had several colonoscopies over the last couple years and each time I joke that her new kitten will be arriving to cheer her up. (Strangely, she doesn’t find it funny when I suggest she paint her bedroom.). Anyway, just want everyone to know that however the prep goes, it’s totally worth it!

ha ha I remember the nurse saying when I woke up “don’t make any big life decisions today while you still have anesthesia in you” I guess they forgot to tell you that!

I hope you get good results from your colonoscopy. I still haven’t scheduled mine – I’m dragging my feet. I hope your stomach’s feeling better.

Thanks I am finally starting to feel back to normal today. I am glad I don’t have to do it again for 5 years.

I haven’t had a colonoscopy yet but I have heard that the prep is so much worse than the actual procedure. You would think they could make the prep a little less awful by now!

I do a majority of my workouts fasted since I workout early in the mornings. It was hard at first but I think my body is used to it by now.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/17/2021 at 1:01 pm

I told my kids by the time they have to do it there will probably be some microchip they insert into you that assesses your body. Glad it is over! Fasted workouts do not work for me at all. It is always good to know what works for you!

It was not something I want to do again anytime soon!

  12. Cari says

Hope your stomach is feeling better today. Rebounding from fast and prep can’t be easy on the system.
I’ve totally done a 5m yoga or meditation for the streak – we have to!
All the seasons here, although we didn’t have your Monday crispness that I remember. Definitely sweatshirt weather here today. Hoodies forever.

Starting to feel a lot better today thanks. 5 minute classes totally work. Loving the cool temps today and this week looks amazing enjoy

Yay, another colonoscopy warrior!! I had mine a few years ago, and the prep is brutal. Our weather was all over the place this week as well…rain (which we needed) on several days, plenty of wind, a reminder of summer temps, and some fall weather as well. Momma N needs to pick a lane LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/17/2021 at 6:33 pm

seriously yes but looks like we are in for a fab week. Hope you are too!

I hope you get good results from your colonoscopy. I had to do one once several years ago and it was no fun, but at least I’ll have some time before I have to do it again! You’d think there’d be an easier way…My stomach was off for awhile afterwards too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      10/18/2021 at 7:52 am

yes that is the same problem I am having. My stomach still feels off but I will be ok thanks

Well done for getting through the colonoscopy, maybe you have the results by now, I’m all behind as have been trying to rest my hand from when I fell and not typing / mousing too much when not working.
