Weekly Run Down Stepping It Up

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week, I was on a mission to up my step count with longer walks indoor and out to reach at least 12K per day. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

Weekly Run Down Stepping it up

Sunday-core + glutes strength + power walk

I was a little tired from hosting last night but at the same really needed to move a bit. An outdoor power walk always feels good before heading out to my sister’s house for the second night of Passover dinner. The glutes class I chose from Tunde was a 10 minute class with what I like to call PT type moves (think weighted clam shells and bridges).

Yes I did jump on the doll in the box trend!

Monday- Hiking class + upper body strength + core + 2 outdoor walks

I started off my “Monday Blues” with a Peloton tread hike and core. I’m pushing my way through Tunde’s Arm Prgram with one more class to go. I met a friend for a quick pre lunch walk and another friend for an afternoon walk. It was a beautiful day and I’m always happy to be outside.

Tuesday-core + full body strength + afternoon walk

Nothing too remarkable here today. I got in a good strength workout and met a friend for a walk later in the day. Working on stepping it up today, I parked my car and did errands on foot to the fedex and to pick up prescriptions. It’s an easy way to add to my count.

Wednesday-Tread power walk + core + upper body strength + afternoon power walk

While I am now an alumni of the Brooks ambassador team, they surprised us with a spring gift box. I had fun trying on and digging into the new gear. Will share some of my favorites this week.

weekly rundown

Thursday-3 ish run miles + gardening

It was a gorgeous spring morning with blue skies and blooming flowers around 50 degrees. If only I could bottle that! Later, I did some planting on our deck. I am the worst gardener and leave the real stuff to the landscaper but thought I could handle these. Fingers crossed they don’t die! Step count 15K.

weekly run down

Friday-power walk + full Body strength & core

It was a gorgeous day to be outside! I started off with a hilly walk with my weighted vest followed by a full body Peloton strength class. Later, I met my son for lunch then had a much needed deep tissue massage.

Saturday-rest day

I promised my massage therapist that I would take a rest day and the benefits of my massage to soak in. It was a pretty good week of workouts and stepping it up!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover and happy anything else you may be celebrating this week!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

So far, I’ve been able to hit my steps except for my rest day which was intentional. The doll box was fun

That’s nice of Brooks. They must have completely changed their ambassador team as everyone I know who was one is no longer. Lovely to be out in the sunshine – it’s nice here, too.

Yes, I do believe it’s a smaller team this year and they now have a 3 year limit. It was fun while it lasted

I’m enjoying the doll box trend — yours is totally on-brand!

That’s nice of Brooks to send you gift boxes — and you’ve been nice to share about it. 😉

I like that Tunde G&L class. I haven’t braved her arms program.

the doll was fun to do! It was a nice surprise from Brooks.
I did like the arms program and I am now looking for my next one. I get too bored with the splits to do them for more than a few weeks

Oh, 50 degrees and blue skies- that’s so perfect. Yes, if only the weather could stay like that! Sounds like you had a great week. Oh and last time I got a massage, I went and did deadlifts the next day and jacked up my back all over again, and my therapist yelled at me. So, good job taking that rest day!

I keep forgetting to make my own doll box, LOL. Nice job getting all those extra steps in (while doing all the other workouts). I keep getting notification from my phone that there’s been a “new trend” with my daily/weekly step counts. Umm yeah, I know have access for lunchtime walks, which took a nosedive over the winter 😉

That is a good step goal! 12k is a lot of steps, I struggle to hit 10k but if I just make time to walk every day, it’s fine. It certainly helps with that nice weather!

You inspired me to get a weighted vest! A lot of my walking (or run commuting) already includes a backpack with my laptop, but I figured I can wear it for walks with Ruth every day.

Looks like a beautiful time of year in D.C.! All that sun!
